One of those Lego trends that honestly didn’t get old with each iteration. Sure, some may be cashing in on a trend, but most are just getting people excited about physics and engineering!
If you ask me, it's gotten VERY old already.
Yeah, it was interesting the first few times, but now it's turned into a fad that needs to die. The sooner, the better.
@@BrickworksDK As long as you do something creative and/or unique with the idea, I see no reason why you shouldn't utilize it.
Allan Johansen Yeah! 10 days is long enough for a trend! I’m glad other LEGO trends like mosaics, vignettes, and GBC have died out and no one ever tries to do them anymore. Why even would anyone try to take a new concept and make their own version of it? That's not what LEGO building is about.
I just hate the name. "Tensegrity". Sounds like something someone in marketing made up to sell you stuff you don't need. Though I associate it with something medical, like some made-up remedy for tension.
I gave you the 600th like
At first I was like "they're all tiny, I guess it has to be a small structure to work"... then the Star Destroyer comes up... awesome!!!
3:51
The physics stays the same. Regardless of scale. If you have strong enough support there's no end to how big you can make them.
Until it's own gravity becomes too significant lol.
@Landon P oh god yes Cloud City was my favorite one
Just imagine if it fell rip star destroy
I might have thought that, but i guess the reason is it's easier to fix if it does somehow end up falling?
You just know some billionaire in Dubai is watching this planning his new floating sky scraper idea
Totally
Probably
Yea but it would prob most likely not work

That dragon one was so clean
True i could buy this dragon
Yeah, that's what I thought too. The integration of the chains into the scene was very clever.
There were some good ones like that
U sure?
He needs to be cleaner-
The delorian was cool too
8:50 Even in Lego form, you can’t stop Kenobi from having the high ground
I know how to not give him the high groundnuts put him on the low ground and put anikan on the high ground
sompusti but how do you take him off the high ground

Anakin: "Ahhhhh!"
*knocks over sculpture*

I always like to see a random Kira in the comments
Anakin: starts floating
6:38 must be one of the most creative ways of creating a lift.
The dragon one wins because the chains restraints are contextualized, in most of the others they break the illusion too much and it just looks like they made em floaty with no good reason.
My fave too!
Yeah I agree, I was trying to think of the words, but you've got it :)
Agreed. Just because you can do it doesn't mean you should. A lot of the models didn't have any story reasons as to why they were there so it just kind of broke the illusion and made it gimmicky without need.
K
@@micabryant4513 it's just their personal opinion
Awesome vid. Really shows that you don't need clear bricks to hold a flying moc up!!!
Nice you found the key.
DaBeast Bricks nope, just some fishing line and broken physics.
Okay. Something must be holding it in mid air. They are holding it with a string
But sometimes u need to use clear bricks :) but yeah its cool
It’s because the thing is being pulled downso it is like a loop, since the chain has limited length gravity can only pull it down so far so it becomes stable while the chains 2 and 3 are used to keep the structure up.
Idk if that made any sense and if that’s correct but that’s what I’m gonna say
took me a second to realize how it works but the top piece is basically just “falling” but the string in the middle prevents that, but then you would think it would fall back but the strings on the edges hold it
...what?
@@ghostyoda7379 Right?
@@Rosales3269 The middle restraint stops it from falling down, and thd restraints on the side prevent it from falling over
I thought he was using a magnet
Yes that’s correct, the longest part of the top piece that has more bricks stacked, the reason why they putted the rope(chain) at the bottom middle of the top piece so that is would fall head cuz of weight, but when you add the two ropes(chains) at the backend corners the weight of the top piece is evenly balanced.
I love how on the Marvel one, it just all came together so well. The bridge was wobbling to simulate it collapsing, and Spiderman's web was integrated perfectly into the creation to make it all so smooth
I know people want to use lego, but fishing line gives more of an illusion.
Well, the fishing line would have to be cut very well
Imo the fact that you see the chains adds to the effect.
The idea is that it almost looks like the thing is floating away by itself, and chains are only used to keep it down.
Using something that's hard to see kind of defeats the purpose imo.
Yes, I know those people too 😀
@@InventREC Genius)
@@legotechnic27 That kinda depends on the theme, the floating islands and such, yea, the chains improve the look. The floating/flying ships though would be better shown without. The podracer especially, and... well all of the Star Wars ones actually lol.
That said, I kinda wonder what would happen if you did a large floating island with chains on all four corners and fishing line as the center one.
Lego needs to make a set for these
LEGO doesn’t know how to make one
@DALIJA GYURITY yes
There are probably a few on Lego Ideas. Get voting if you really want one.

LEGO should definitely make sets like these after the pandemic of course
The pandemic hasn’t stopped lego from making sets
Bro lego is still making sets silly😂
Bruhify
@@log9700 yes
During the pandemic would be far better, it'd give me new things to be amazed by. Even though I get how it works I still love the effects.
I especially love the dragonbinder one that implements the chains as part of the moc.
Those that do multiple layers of chains are cool, too. The magnet one kind wants me to do one that's hovering and only roughly held in place by some chains.
Interestingly enough, those were my favourites as well. And always nice to read familiar names :)
@@Heroesflorian Hello there! xD
I love the Delorean at 1:00, so cool !

3:21 Tensegrity structure on top of a tensegrity structure.
5:15 I have no idea how the tires haven't been pulled apart.
5:33 Tensegrity structure on top of a tensegrity structure on top of a tensegrity structure. I like how they had to use weights to balance it.
6:25 IT MOVES.
7:46 I really like how this one is held.
10:42 This one took me a while to wrap my head around.
11:11 Only one chain.
13:14 Four chains/strings.
13:28 Anger and wrath.
The dragon and the shark are the best imo
Yes, I agree. They both implement most of the necesssary construction as part of the moc (similar to the whale one) and therefore look less artificial.
@@Lizard_Workshop Ah yes, that one was cool, too! Both the realistic one and the superhero one imo.
the crane is the most impressive for me (the platform which move up and down)
I really hope lego makes an actual set out of this trend
I just wanted to say that all these sculptures are amazing and sometimes even mindblowing! Great job everybody!
It took me a good min to realize just how it is that these structures worked. I applaud the creativity these people have.
1:31 I know there were a lot of star wars builds but I didn't expect to see a wookie
1:43 I just love how he used the hull parts from the first LEGO Millennium Flacon in his Cloud City build 👍
This does put a smile on my face
It’s amazing how builders are incorporating the concept into their builds
Great video, I have seen these structures before but did not understand the forces at work until I watched this. Excellent
That cloud city looks really good
Having just attempted to make one of these and now fully understanding the precision required all I can say is I am seriously impressed. Amazing stuff dude.
Super glad he still makes videos after a really long time
Sooo coool!
One of the greatest ideas in LEGO ever. :-D
The time and engineering to have them be balanced deserves respect
I mean to be honest not that much you Just make it hang from one side and add ropes to the other side, all you have to worry about is that the conections between lego and chains/ropes are stronger than acceleration of gravity * the Weight of the "floating" item
My brain had to do the biggest thonk in years to figure this out
Thank you for this awesome stuff
Great collection guys - thanks for including my build! 🤗
I really liked it
Awesome creativity indeed I loved it very intrend....loved the last vdo 🤣😂😆💗
‘Wait, it’s all balance?’ ‘Always has been.’
I like the one best that goes up and down on its strings. Stunning.
This is not what I asked for, but I'm glad this is what I got.
Man, these were all so cool!
I love how each builder did their own thing, with their own style, it makes me want to do one! :D
That last guy though... :(

I can totally see this as a way of making things float in stop motions and stuff specially if you use green chains or string which can be edited out easy
True
I'm gonna do this on a larger scale with my 20th-anniversary slave 1. flipping insane
Your whatnow.

i'd love to see a Lego creator tensegrity set like the dragon one, i'd totally buy it.
I saw that last one coming a mile away, and it still startled me.
13:45 when the piece is not connecting and you need to apply more force
Why not use fishingline, stuff would really seam to float..
1:04 uses fishing line or other clear string
While I agree with your idea, fishing line is not Lego.
The fishing line would have to be cut very well because if he cut it wrong, this wouldn’t work.
@@anemone105 considering the amount of time that went into building the structure out Lego I think cutting the fishing line precisely wouldn't make a big difference in time
lolblitz gaming I missed that, the lighting made it look a bit like some sort ordenary string to me..
I wish I knew you were making this vid before, just about to post a tensegrity sculpture of my own that I'm super proud of!

Mind blown don't even begin to describe right now my mind from all these
Why does this feel so satisfying to watch?
The ones with the power functions are cool
Who built the dragon at 1:19? Id love to see more pictures of it
Incredibly imaginative. Multi-stage, dynamically reconfigurable, using magnets in place of one of the tension links, you name it!
i love em all especially most of the star wars ones, they’re just magnificent
The cloud city was so good
Why not use something smaller and clear like fishing line?
At first i was like MAGNETS but then i took another look and the race pod made it much more clear that you were playing with weight and gravity and that makes it even more amazing
