They are measured in microwatts, which only appear on the tester, or on another radio just a few meters away. They are unlikely to interfere with any other services, this is a five watt transceiver, not a huge job running a kilowatt! No mention was made of the current trend for placing the speaker behind the keyboard, a nice touch which reduces the radio's size.
Finally a decent video about this model. I also ordered it twice because I use it for professional purposes together with my wife. But of course I also use it for hobby reasons. I hope we do well with this baofeng. In any case, visually it looks really damn good. So we can only hope that she plays according to how she looks. 73, de Angelo.

I have the UV 21R and I really like it as it is more rugged than the UV5R it also has a much better sound quality and squelch quality.. In comparing radios at a range that was difficult to hit my repeater the UV21R was able to break through and connect to the repeater when the UV-5R and the GM15 did not...

It's advertised by sellers its frequency range for RX /TX is 400 - 500mhz but they won't transmit on or above 480. The manufacturer has blocked its TX ability to comply with the law in the UK.
Same features as uv5r plus extended Tx/rx. USB c charging, color screen, etc.. I have both and would recommend both for cheap radios you choose based on your needs. With the being said, after buying 4 cheap radios, I could have gotten a low end Yaesu.
I just received my UV 21 pro V2 and programmed some PMR channels with CTCSS tones via Chirp. Problem is now that the CTCSS is "off" on the radio for all these channels and there seems to be no way to just turn them on. I have to add them manually on the radio for each channel. Do you maybe have the same problem?
@@garycallahan7867 Oh, and I had to cut some of the plastic off the cable head because the pins weren't connecting properly. You can see where the cable end hits the body, it needs to seat a little further in. Good luck :)

I have many HTs but have only recently bought a Baofeng to be honest from what I've seen is they just package the same radio in a different housing of this type there is no difference

@@quebecpatriot1874 if your ‘woods’ are remote (ie no one is likely listening in line of sight) you are MUCH better off with a Personal Location Beacon (PLB). Not as cheap, but depending on how much you value your life could be priceless. Really depends on how much risk or how critical your activities are. A cheap communication device will never hurt though if you don’t mind lugging extra weight - even just for fun. Happy hikes!

Using a better antenna could give you a couple more kilometers,maybe. If youre in an urban area, youre not goint to accomplish much more, regardless of what device youre going to use. If you dont need to have a handheld radio, you could use a CB radio,or, If cell is available,just use a voip radio (zello or similar) - even handheld devices can be purchased

Got mine for Xmas. First contact was a repeater just over 100k away.
