  • Yeah, half a year passed again since the last reel. So here is the next one. All these works are from this year.
    Softwares used: Macromedia Flash 8, #ClipStudioPaint Ex.
    Special mention #ZettaiAbsolute #Sakuga
    Main inspiration: Mr. Nakamura, Weilin, Guzzu, Gem, Till, Hero, BahiJD, Mitsuo Iso and Spencer Wan.
    Of course there are many more, but listing all of them would create a massive list.
    Music: Rhytone - Theme
    Thanks for all the support.

    A note: This was originally a constructive comment on the animation before I noticed that it was dated. To check if it held up, I checked the newer stuff where some of the things I mentioned have been worked on fairly. I have decided to keep this here just in case any aspiring animators out there want help with their own work and find this advice helpful for personal reflection.
    These are very impressive sequences animated here, but I feel I should add a comment on my observations on what to keep in mind in future animations.
    Keep in mind, I am no animation pro legend that has been training on a mountain for the best of 50 years, but I’ve studied the artform for a decent chunk of my life now that I feel I have some right to point out what I have noticed.
    I believe the key poses could work with exaggeration to accentuate the liveliness of the animation. What you’re going for is very visually energetic motion, so I see that you could benefit a lot from focussing on the weight in the pose. Keep in mind, weight is no easy feat to capture in animation in most cases and study of motion is essential if you want to master it, so to speak. But yes, your animation is amazingly fluid and consistent from what I’ve seen.
    Notice in some of your clips shown how there is motion such as lunging to prepare for a jump (seen in the train fight and the last shot of the knees). You could try going that extra mile to go further into a crouch and exaggerate that motion (keep in mind, when I say exaggerate, I don’t mean that it gets so exaggerated that it divulges from realism, just to give the movement the life that you might be looking for). Timing is also key to remember to pace the motion. This is where I’m still a novice and can’t give personalised advice here that I’m 100% confident on, but I’m still figuring out that stuff and I’d recommend we all do if we think we struggle with one of the 12 animation principles.
    I suppose that’s about all I can say, really. The rest would be specialised for action staging and that isn’t my strong suit plus as I write this conclusion, I now know that this comment isn’t much use to you as the animator. But hopefully to you, the reader. Or maybe to me, to realise that I actually do know how to critique animation even though I sometimes think I’m garbage at it. Huh, guess we all learn new things about ourselves.

    I'm no expert but I've noticed that the amount of effort that goes into these pieces are really really overlooked, lets just say 15fps for 30 seconds of animation could equate to roughly 450 drawn frames give or take depending on the dynamic of the animation, you would also have to factor in the level of detail in each frame, refining, shading, etc. I can't even guess how long this would have taken, but damn homie you must have a huge level of commitment and dedication

      anime is a different culture of animation from western animation, while western is definitely simplified for production purposes and simply style preferences it’s still animation that people have to draw out and rigging puppets is also just as hard as doing traditional Japanese animation. All in all its two different styles of animation that have different production ways but still have equal efforts to entertain an audience

    • @Mystravian
      @Mystravian 3 роки тому +13

      naaah, look at most western shows and you'll find that stuff like choreography is usually a lot MORE present, in terms of consistency in a genre.

    • @ponyfish157
      @ponyfish157 3 роки тому +32

      So, joke obviously but I think we might have to add that anime cuts a LOT on production. From the more obvious stuff like no lipsinc but you might also notice that hyperstyelised animation like that goes down to 7 frames the second quite frequently and even uses still images sometimes with only eyes/mouth moving,
      Just to bust out everything in one big fight/action. Its neither better nor worse its just ... a thing

    this is some kickass work. i love the movement of the shirt on the breakdancer, and that you show the woman's sideways movement at 0:16 twice.
    i do think some of the movements of the figures seem to lack weight and inertia. for example when the first dude lands his flip after 0:05, he lands it standing straight upright rather than with his feet ahead of him, but the way his forward momentum and angular momentum immediately vanish isn't consistent with an upright landing. you'd expect his momentum to carry through a bit more. the result is that he appears almost weightless there.
    the side kick at 0:39 is another moment that i think doesn't totally sell the weight and inertia of the figures. the first problem is that the protagonist recoils from the kick more than the enemy who has been kicked, even though the protagonist goes into the kick with almost a running start. the second problem is the timing. the protagonist's torso levers backward right as his lead leg connects with the enemy, and right as his back leg connects with the ground. the protagonist's torso should lever backwards during the transfer of energy into the target, not right at the outset.

    Alot of people seem to be intimidated by the craziness happening in the animations, and don't know where to start. As daunting as it is, the quickest way to get to this level is to practice as soon as possible.
    Go, watch videos on anatomy and find your style that works.
    Second, Study perspective! It's such a small thing that seems to get overlooked. Just these two alone are really big stepping stones.
