Cilla had 4 songs that no one could have done better . Anyone who had a heart , your my world , Alfie , and this one step inside love . Shame she wasn’t big in America
It´s NOT about "making it" in the U.S. It is about creating GREAT ART. Cilla Black did that over a fifty year showbusiness career. May she rest in peace. 😀
Strange how you mentioned this tune being banned in S. Africa. I haven't heard her do this on the Ed Sullivan show either. She made at least two appearances I've seen and they were of covers. I also noticed that she wore attire a bit more conservative, probably per Ed himself. He was kind of strict where appearance and performance was concerned. So, as I see her in this clip, I don't think she could have worn something like this at that time and maybe he wouldn't have allowed this song to be performed either. Other than that, he seemed pretty fair and gave her a chance anyway. Beautiful, talented lady RIP. . .
Hi L. M. ALG ... Cilla only had one album released in the USA on Capitol Records. In fact, it was a USA only album called "Is It Love". That was 1965 and pretty much her career here in the states. Ed had her on to promote this album which did not sell well. That is unfortunate since other UK female artists made it in the USA like Pet Clark and Dusty Springfield. Thank you for your comment. Enjoy ...
Cilla had an incredible voice, another national treasure from the UK. Todd have you got Reasons to be Cheerful Pt3 by Ian Dury and the Blockheads on your to do list? A really funky tune and the Sax solo is great.
Thank you! The song was not written by Paul McCartney, because the real Paul had left the band in 1966 (he never died, by the way, that was the unconfirmed rumour mill!). The song was written by Billy Shears Campbell. Campbell was introduced to the world with The Beatle´s album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Here are the lyrics, "hidden in plain sight": "It was 20 years ago today Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play They've been going in and out of style But they're guaranteed to raise a smile So may I introduce to you The act you've known for all these years Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band We're Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band We hope you will enjoy the show We're Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Sit back and let the evening go Sgt. Pepper's lonely, Sgt. Pepper's lonely Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band It's wonderful to be here It's certainly a thrill You're such a lovely audience We'd like to take you home with us We'd love to take you home I don't really want to stop the show But I thought you might like to know That the singer's gonna sing a song And he wants you all to sing along So let me introduce to you The one and only Billy Shears And Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Yeah" 😀
Oh dear. Barefoot Shaman really is a fool. I mean, it's not even a funny joke anymore. It's just silly nonsense that people still seem to want to believe.
Cilla Black was one of the biggest British female singers of the 60s. ❤
...so underappreciated in the US...
Hi Chatham43 ... I know, right! I love Cilla ... Rock on ... 😎🎸✌

They would've tried to change her voice
I Sure I remember this was the theme tune for her BBC TV series in 68
