- The “Halo” series is one of the most successful/popular first-person shooters in video game history and the first game in it’s series started everything; “Halo: Combat Evolved”. The legendary game not only the first to introduce us to Master Chief, but it also showed us what the “Halo” universe was all about and got gamers hooked into future titles! Some extra facts:
1. the original game manual showed Reach's original name in a radio transmission: Coral
2. the sniper rife fires fifty caliber rounds in an 80 caliber Sabot
3. The pistol was so OP because it fired explosive rounds and was actually automatic (just slow (don't believe me? try it!)).
4. by using mods, you can see the chief remove his helmet at the end of the game. What's underneath? Another helmet!
5. By switching to updated graphics in the Cryo observation room, you can see a readout for a second Spartan.
I'm certain that I know more, but I just can't remember them right now... BRB, gonna go play some halo

343 industries added the 2nd readout not bungie so i don't consider it truly cannon since bungie never accepted the books as cannon. the 2nd readout in anniversary is for Linda.
I think back in bungie times linda was canonically on the ship (first strike books if I’m not mistaken)so it would make sense 343 added another readout for her.

Two Halo facts.
All Covenant vehicles are named as spiritual beings.
Wraith, ghost, revenant, banshee, spirit, phantom, vampire, lich and seraph. Only one without name like this is Scarab.
The mentioned Halo Legends episode was actually directed and written by people who made Dragonball Z.
The Scarab is technically a spiritual being because in ancient Egyptian belief it was believed that a god called Khepri who was some sort of humanoid scarab pushed the sun across the sky.

Some small additions / corrections:
07: Vehicle destructability - in the campaign ghosts and banshees were destructible.
20: Jenn Taylor - also voices a role in Roosterteeth's RWBY
35: Active camo - could be countered on the pc version by lowering graphic settings
45: Weird banshee - The banshees-with-the-canopy-open also appear in the game at one point (I believe chasing E419 when she goes down), more of a bug really of course but still funny. Also the 'projectile it shouldnt be firing' really just looks like the regular cannon blast but stretched out (shuttertime?)
50: No collectors edition - technically true but I recall there was a special press edition or something that came with a few goodies and a special box (can't find it right now tho)
57: Reference about Chiefs architecture - Might have been originally a reference to the man/machine thing, but makes more sense in the overall story that its just a remark about the MJOLNIR armour's computer systems being similar to that of a space ship (which is quite amazing). Regardless this line of dialogue is somewhat out of touch with the cannon as established later (as are many things in the first Halo), as this is not the first time Cortana was uploaded into the Chief (unless you take Halo: Reach as cannon, which you really shouldnt bc it is at odds with every other piece of expanded universe there is).
77: PoA crew not dressed as marines - Well yeah, they are the ships crew. Ship is Navy, so they wear navy dress. Makes sense right?
83: Just a general observation, Spartan-117 is supposed to be read as 1-1-7 or 117, not 1-17.
94: Machina mode - In later games they started adding stuff specifcally
for machinima makers (such as a button combo to lower the gun)
104: Hunters - Hunters (Mgalekgolo) are not a solid creature but made up of large amounts of small worms (Lekgolo). They come in pairs because the Lekgolo that make up both Mgalekgolo are part of the same colony of worms.

Cortana's line about the cave not being a natural formation is redundant anyway, since the the entire Halo ring is artificial. No part of it is a "natural formation".

Um, no. The marine pilots in Halo:CE were wearing their armor years before the Halo 3 marines got dressed. The marines from Halo 3 used the hand-me-down armor from the Halo:CE marine pilots.

halo is probably my all time favorite series. I love it to death. played it since I was like 3.
Truth and reconciliation was an awesome mission. In my experience, the people who have told me they hated that level were coincidentally those who didn't bring a sniper rifle into the Covenant Cruiser ship. If you don't bring a sniper into that ship on legendary, good luck.

actually I think the reason they all wear the sgt symbol is because I am pretty sure apparently it was said any soldier in this case marines who witnessed a spartan were bribed with promotions to not speak about it

The needle rifle is automatic it's slower than the needler but it's there and it is very useful
Spartan Venom the needle rifle is semi automatic mate. If you hold the trigger only one round is fired. One trigger pull equals one round fired
It is automatic, just shoots slowly
The pistle being over powered is probably why it's my go to wepon except when I'm madd merdering grunts

When the aliens and mutants are fighting in the snow and you run with the mutant charge to steal the fighter then fly down to pick them off one by one before flying up to go through the building, that's freakin' awesome.

Would've been nice to see you mention the Marathon trilogy (Bungie's mostly Mac exclusive fps series before Halo) and all the elements from that series that either inspired or were ripped wholesale into the Halo series. It's very interesting to see all the elements they brought over!

Also, Cortana is a reference to the sword Curtana, which in turn is a reference to the sword Durendal (the sword of Roland, one of Charlemagne's paladins), which finally brings it around to Durandel, the rogue AI from Bungie's previous FPS trilogy, Marathon.

Guns in any halo are rarely balanced. The reason why the pistol is so powerful in multiplayer is because the pistol does 25 damage while a spartan's shield has a value of 75. The third technicly wouldn't hurt the health value of 75 but if the last shot destroys the shield it will count as a headshot and instant kill. It would only take a 99% damage fraction to the shield to make the pistol a 4 shot kill.

Truth and Reconciliation was like the 3rd best level behind Two Betrayals and Assault on the Control. Using the Sniper going across the level before going up the lift into the ship are some of my fondest memories of Halo.

I could've sworn the novels clarified that Johnson was immune to flood due to exposure to plasma grenades. Maybe I didn't see where that got retconned, but I could only have learned about his plasma grenade exposure from reading the novels.
And in the defense of the pistol, the manual DID state that it fired High Explosive rounds. There's a reason you can't buy those at your local outdoor/camping store.

Fun fact the M6 series of pistols fire 12.7x40mm AP rounds . The closes round in existence to this round is the .50cal Beowulf at 12.7x42mm. UNSC Marines shouldn't even be capable of firing the pistol one handed without some kind of augmentations to their body.

I think the glitch with Sgt. Johnson killing himself is similar to the glitch in Halo CE where Keyes has a needler and kills himself. I remember Bungie dev diaries talking about that glitch.

if you want a needler gun that is automatic, go to halo 5 forge, get a weapon pad, get a needler, change the configuration to a different type of it, then change the weapon to storm rifle. exit out without clicking anything (just click b) and then pick it up. a automatic needle gun
On #55 that's a drawing of a Marathon class heavy cruiser as opposed to the Halcyon light cruiser which is what the Pillar of Autumn is.

Also Sergeant Johnson is Sergeant Major Avery Johnson, which is slightly below a Captain in Marine Rank.
Hunters, megalekgolo, are actually a number of life forms stuffed in armor, known as just the lekgolo.
