- In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented - but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past where a “looper” - a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) - is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good…until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination. Sometimes a fantastic movie slips under the radar and blows you away when you discover it. This is one of those rare gems. Brilliant
I agree. I think it also has something to do with being a couple years, older and wiser than looking back at some of these movies. Knowing that somebody actually wrote them down and came up with this stuff. Very interesting. Makes you wonder

It's one of the most underrated films ever... I saw it in the cinema with a few friends on the day it was released. The ending should have been slightly different because it probably deserved a sequel.

well, i would love to see rainmaker rise to power into the unstoppable crime boss (they mentioned in this film)and all by himself ala JOHN WICK. a spin-off that i would watch.
I love this movie, but one detail that I just noticed is in the final scene, the camera zooms in on Sara running her fingers over Joe's hair & then the scene changes to Cid & focusing on his hair. What does that mean?!?! Any idea. Because it's left at a weird ending with that.

This Trailer doesn’t do the movie justice AT ALL. It makes it seem like an ordinary Action Thriller movie but it’s so much more than that. SUPER underrated but definitely worth the watch.
Yes, it's a good movie. But the time travel makes no sense and brakes it own rules. I enjoyed the film anyway, but a lot of people would not, because of that. There are way better time travel movies out there.

Just saw this movie and I was blown away! One of the best sci-fi movies I've ever seen, if not the best. An original script, lots of action and solid performances from Joseph, Emily, Bruce and the little kid. Definitely a must-see.

You need not to think to much about it, otherwise, there is a massive flow. How comes there is a rainmaker when young Joe kills right away old Joe, get the oney an move to China??? (in that reality, Cid's mother isn't killed by old Joe and Cid won't become revengeful). Ok, maybe I'm the only one to be bothered by that :)

Brilliant, intriguing and intense story - reminded me other films like Millennium (1989), Freejack (1992), Timecop (1994) and The Time Shifters (1999). Anyway, it was unique in its own way. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis and Emily Blunt did a great job.
Looper is one of my favorite Sci-Fi films of the 2010's (next to Inception, Prometheus, Limitless, Tron: Legacy, Cloud Atlas, Daybreakers and Melancholia)

My no.1 favourite film of 2012
Such an original, underrated, sci-fi masterpiece. JGL and Bruce Willis are wonderful in this espcially Emily Blunt and Jeff Daniels
Does anyone else think the idea of a prequel to Looper would be awesome? It could show how the loopers came about and a little bit of Joe's backstory, or maybe a shorter prequel on the years in China.

This is movie is absolutely incredible. The acting is stunning, and the concept is gorgeously thought provoking. To those who criticize this movie because they don't understand it, please try to write a screen play this terrifically complicated while maintaing the continuity and see how that works out for you.

I just saw this movie and I normally never do this, but I looked up the trailer just to say that this movie is an absolute masterpiece. Watch this movie! The concept and storyline or so refreshing and enormously awesome! Best movie I've seen in a long time!!

this is one of the more underrated movies out there, it's clever and makes you think. it's one of the types that you might not fully understand the first time you watch it, but when you watch it the second time everything makes sense and you see how clever it is.
Just saw this movie tonight and it was amazing. Joseph Gordon-Levitt was most prominent but the acting came from Emily Blunt and she displayed the full range of emotion. You really feel her pain and she is one of Hollywood's best imports in recent years.
One of the greatest sic-fis I swear, can't wait to see what Rian Johnson will do with Star Wars.
J.J. Abrams, Rian Johnson and Josh Trank! They couldn't have picked three better directors for the new Star Wars films in my opinion! The Star Trek reboot, Looper and Chronicle are all great sci-fi movies in their own rights (although Looper is definitely my favourite).

If it's still playing near you, go to the cinema and see this spellbinding work of science fiction where it deserves to be seen - on the big screen. No matter what, you won't have ever seen anything like it and that's something deserving of your dollar.

This movie was incredible. Finally a movie that does something original, isn't a remake or sequel, is smart, well-acted, and intense. Just what the movies needed in this time of endless sequels and remakes.

I love this movie so much. I watch it once a year and I"m floored everytime. I also almost can't make it through the whole movie because my heart breaks so bad for the kid.

Tbh even though I hate what is going on in the Star Wars fandom now, I am really glad that he directed The Last Jedi. I am quite embarrassed that I didn't know about him before The Last Jedi. But The Last Jedi brought me to Rian Johnson and now I am watching all his films and I have never been more impressed than that!

Saw this in the theater about a month ago, I had no interest in seeing it but there was nothing else on that night really. I was surprisingly shocked by how good it was.
Good plot, good intense scenes, the ending wasn't great and the story in general had some plot holes, but the ending still didn't fail to take me off guard.

Agreed. Episode VIII is in good hands. I Couldn't think of a better director to follow up to JJ Abrams. Hopefully Collin Trevorrow will carry the momentum in episode IX as well.

I hate how you all think that the movie is shit and that it sucks because of the time holes and what not. To be honest this was the first time travel related movie, I EVER MADE SENSE OF, like literally it explains everything. Just started watching this on Netflix had to go searching as to why in 2012 Joseph looked weird and old bc I know for sure he has a baby face even now. It was stressing me out.
Yeah... He wore facial prosthetics to look more similar to Bruce Willis. Wish they didn't do it... it just looks like he had tons of plastic surgery or something, very unnatural looking.

Well you could never expect a time traveling movie to be perfect with all of the paradoxes. Time travel is so complicated, they did a good job with what they did. If they actually tried to make a time travel movie without any mistakes, it would take so many years just to make a movie that turns out bad. But I do agree with you somewhat.

They should come out with a “Looper part 2” but this time actually show everything that happens in the future long before he goes back to the past. Show “Cid” as the adult, “Rainmaker” he actually grows up to become etc.

This movie was 10000/10, it really held my attention until the very last minute! Ngl I only watched this because Joseph Gordon levitt was in it…. But I was shockingly surprised by the quality of this story line :D everyone that’s complaining about the paradoxes needs to chill out and appreciate a good story. The plot twist was amazing I highly recommend!!

So the whole time watching this movie I was like this dude looks just like Joseph Gordon, why did they not gave him role to play this character. Finally googling the movie, realizing that, its him. Omg. I'm so slow I should of notice that. He's one of my celebrity crush.
They used the CGI effect to change his face a little so that he looks like a younger Bruce Willis. Don't worry, I thought the same thing at first lol

Goniee Rogers I actualy think Joseph looks sooo much sexier with the makeup on! I think its because of the dark hair and the blue contact lenses...its just really wow! and they make him look like a detective like in a film noir movie! i was so dissapointed when i realised it was him and there wasnt a new actor i had never heard of who actualy looked like that naturally!
I love Joseph Gordon-Levitt, but in this movie i hated him at first, thinking "Gee, he's always so sweet, why is he going out of his way to be such an unlikeable asshole in this picture?" Thirty minutes later, I realize that he is doing (brilliantly) an impression of a young Bruce Willis. Jesus, he is such a good actor. And God knows, Bruce Willis would never be capable of doing an old JG-L, lol.

And if you do saw his movies and his episodes of Breaking Bad its clear that he hates keeping mysteries in his movies unexplained so he should not have been given the 2nd movie but rather the last one.
