If you’re interested in helping me on my adventure and want to provide “trail magic” from afar, I do have Venmo (@bergstromra) - any amount is so very appreciated, even if it’s just a 5 spot to grab a cider in town.
Thank you all for watching and supporting, I hope these videos help inspire you to get outdoors and/or follow your passion. We’re only given one life and it’s meant to be lived, get out there and live it!
Hola...loving all your series...it is remarkable what you hiking adventures go through. Your feet on this series have been a huge challenge. I bicycle tour myself and I have a huge respect for all of you who are trekking such distances in the wilderness. Great stuff, your channel reminds me of Dixie and Homemade Wonder Lust...love the narration and insight into such an adventure. Cheers and thank you for documenting such journey. Those who have never done such an amazing journey , do not understand the work that you place on filming and editing .
Yes.i don't want to hike alone
Good episode really like it can't think why can you ?!
Hope you heal quickly
Your comments at the beginning of the video, show that you have a very supportive tramily. Friends and family are needed in life. Life is tough and we all need support sometimes. It is also a good feeling to be able to support others. Heal fast. Good Luck, Rick
I love how your daily videos give a earnest a count of through hiking, the good (views) and the bad (blister wrangling.)
Thanks and good luck with your trek.
Love the reality and no BS commentary. Hang in there, you got this.
Good morning skittle!! Love your treks I’ve been following your journeys from the beginning and love your attitude and endurance on trail I hope you get plenty of rest and looking forward to the next section of your hike!! God bless you
Sounds like a good plan. Stay strong. Love seeing your videos
You are such a real, charming, honest hiker! Loved yourPCT vlogs and I love these too. A whole new challenge to your feet with those road walks though! South of Big Sky is Covered Wagon Ranch where we took first one granddaughter and then four for some amazing high country riding. Best vacations ever.
Oh my gosh please consider using sock liners such as Injinji, etc.! The 2 layers of socks rub against each other and not on your feet! My mom taught me that and I’ve never had a blister even on 20 mile days, except when my feet were soaking wet for miles. Any cheap, thin sock under the thicker hiking sock will work actually. Even the pantyhose knee highs under other socks help, and weigh next to nothing.
That’s wonderful for you, but not for everyone. Considered liners, tried a few different brands, just ended up not being for me.
Thanks for the video. Hope the feet are feeling better. They’ve been working really hard. Just watched Daisy, she’s behind you. She was looking at the pictures on the beams at the llama ranch, and she saw yours and pointed it out! “There’s Skittles!!!” 😊
Jesus you are one tough little skittle. Glad your resting and healing, it should pay in the long run, good luck young lady.
Take the time you need to make it a break instead of an end. You got this, Skittle!
Hiking sock and spck liners with shoes that fit. I found elastic laces work best since they don't come loose once you set them
Bedrocks, girl. Saved my feet on my PCT section hike this year when I was have blister issues. Ended up doing 80-90 miles in them!
Good luck with your feet hope everything heals well. Stay safe out there.
Miller Lite and Lucky Charms, Hiker Trash Snacks!
Great vid Skittle...sounds / looks like you got a plan...I believe you're on the downhill side of your heel blisters....looks like they're drying up nicely and should be toughened up....hopefully Bec they will be good to go for the rest of the "pounding" youre giving them....lol...hang tuff, one in front of the other....as Starburst always said...."never quit on a bad day"....
Howdy beautiful Becca I love your videos, keep making them
Girl, u got this - let those patas rest and you’ll be back out there killing’ it! Heal and be well!
I hope your feet get better soon.Thank you for sharing your hike.Hang in there.
Hang in there! Enjoy your recovery days off.
Way to keep pushing through Skittles, hang in there with those feet!
GOOD FOR YOU FOR TAKING CARE OF YOURSELF. LOVE YA JOANNA CALIFORNIA
May you heal fast and recharge!
Bet ya the camera didn't catch half of how beautiful that sunset was.
you made a good decision... those blisters were pretty knarly!
Hopefully your giving your feet some needed time to get better so you can can get back out on trail!!
Oh, Becca... I'm so sorry about your poor feet. You truly have a great friend that helped you with them. I hope your feet heal quickly and you meet your mates on schedule.
There's no way that thread is sterile so I'm not sure I understand why people do that with blisters. Quit walking with wet shoes and socks ought to be the best preventative medicine even if it means carrying three pairs of sock. I always take my socks off and insoles out of my shoes when crossing rivers but if I get my feet wet accidentally while crossing then I change socks withing 30 minutes of getting them wet.
Well, I've hiked over 5000 miles, and it's worked for me.
@@chrisjuarez72 How often have you used it in 5000 miles? Ive hiked 3000 miles in 3 years and never needed it. Maybe I need to hike more miles to get my first big blister. My point is . . . why are people getting soooo many blisters. Some people seem to be plagued by them. Is it wet feet? I think so.
@@hikerJohn when I thru-hiked the PCT, I used it on a few blisters. I had learned that from a multiple time thru-hiker that year. After my third set of shoes and more miles I learned the whole time that I was actually in the wrong shoe for my foot. I can't even remember getting a blister on my last thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail.
I hope that helps you, lots of miles, and lots of time to learn. ✌
OneGear
i hope they dont get infected. i get the draining, with a disinfected needle, but those dirty threads really make me cringe. i would never do that or recommend it to anyone.
Hello there, says OneGear, friend of Wing-It. I may have something that may help your blisters in the future. Sterilize a sewing needle use cotton thread, run through your blister leave a quarter inch on each end. It'll act as a wick and let the blister dry and heal. I promise you it'll work.
love your frickles....
I don't get the threading, I always thought you didn't drain blisters, clean the area with antiseptic, anti-septic ointment and cover with plasters. What does putting a bit of thread through do?
The idea is that the liquid can escape along the threads. However, at least for me that would take too long. I do a long cut through the dead skin and let them air out during the night. On the next morning I put Compeed on once it is dry and tape it into place. You can easily get a blister within a blister only that the skin is so thin that it may get to an open wound. Not ideal in such conditions. However, she took a break after arriving in town, so no walking for some days and feet will recover quickly.
@@mars_hikes967 I wondered about the thread too so thanks for the answer.
@Wes B you should not do that. you should never put cream into wounds or use antibiotics unless there is an infection.
@Wes B yeah, its an american thing. we dont actually do or recommend that in europe. using antibiotics causes more antibiotic resistant bacteria and that is why we dont use any antibiotics unless there already is an infection. but not prophilactically.
also using cream on wounds in general can actually cause infections. wounds should ideally be kept clean and thats it.
@Wes B and all hikers put dirty threads into their blisters.
and its still dangerous. people should not imitate everything they see on youtube without being aware of the actual risks.
Sounds like you found a good tramily.
Do you utilize the last lace eyelet on your shoes? I use them on all my running, hiking, and workout shoes. Keeps my shoes from sliding and causing black toenails and blisters. You probably know all of this….
I do and I try out the heel lock as well 🤷🏼♀️ thru hikes are just a different beast, what works for your feet at home cannot be a guarantee on those long trails with varying weather conditions and terrain.
By now I hope your blisters are all gone so you can hike hard again. Love the language, don't believe you should take great care to always sound like an angel.
What does threading blisters good for?
Have you tried injinji liners underneath darn toughs? I’ve heard that sometimes helps.
you are awesome! I wish I know how to find nice hiking group ..
Your a tough cookie. ✌️👊
I dare you to go get a pedicure. Lol. Heal up and keep ripping it.
Had to show my wife your blisters getting threaded. Quite an education. Heal fast
With those feet ,frekles and hair you have to be Irish !
