- This video starts where you can see both JR Sannomiya Station and Hankyu Sannomiya Station. We are going underground first to walk through Santica before we walk on Sannomiya Center Street. Then we are visiting Nankin-machi (Chinatown) and the newly opened Sunset-dori Street.

Trivia: It's pretty easy to navigate yourself in Sannomiya. When you see mountains that's north. So I remember such conversations with my friends like "Let's meet up on the mountain side of the street. Not the sea side."

I live in Hyogo prefecture. We still have manpower. Kobe City is experiencing a remakable population decline, but still has 1.5 million people living there. Since it is close to a big city, it has a small population during the daytime but a large population at night. Kobe City has a lot of slopes overall, so it is easy for people to gather in the flat areas where there are densely packed. I think it has the third highest number of skyscrapers in Japan. Thank you for uploading the video of Kobe City.
Kobe is a place of nostalgic memories where I spent my school days. Recently, it has been said that Kobe is in decline compared to other cities such as Osaka, Kyoto, and Fukuoka, but after watching this video, I am convinced that Kobe will always be my favorite city. Thank you very much for this wonderful video.
Actually I had the same impression for Kobe that it may be declining. I'm from Himeji and used to go to Kobe a lot when I was a kid. Back then, the famous narrow alleys under the JR train track were packed with so many people but many stores are closed now. However as you can see in this video, new fashionable street is open on the north side of the JR train track and there were so many people there. I was happy to see Sannomiya is doing fine! I'm glad you enjoyed the video and someday please come back and visit Kobe again! Thank you so much for watching! 😄
I liked Kobe better than Osaka or Tokyo. Although I do like those two also. Tokyo is just so expensive though. And so big.

Kobe has been in decline since the 阪神淡路大震災 :(
I moved from JPN to NZ 26 yrs ago. I was born and raised in Tokyo and lived in Osaka for a few years, but before moving to NZ, I used to live in Kobe for many years, and yes, I experienced that dreadful earthquake (and another one here in Chch 16 years later!).
Just like NZ is my country by choice, Kobe was my city by choice. And, Kobe is still my very fave city in JPN (perhaps in the world). While it’s very sophisticated and urbanized with a highly developed infrastructure and transportation systems, nature (both the sea and the mountains) is so easily accessible, which IMO is a great advantage Kobe has over Yokohama.

Its Kobe ❤️ always been my fav city all over Japan. not too crowded, not too much glasses buildings, clean tidy city, ppl r stylish. one new things i just noticed was ppl in Kobe seem enjoy walking like they just casually walking unlike in Tokyo where ppl always being in sucha hurry n walk fast.

We were there October 2019. Shortly before the world got broken.
Sannomiya Station has a small cafe that serves great pastries. We'd have breakfast there sometimes or have a light snack while waiting for the hotel shuttle.
Too bad we had to leave the day before they opened the Gundam art exhibition at the Hyogo Museum.
We're going back when the world gets fixed up.
Yes, definitely please come visit Sannomiya again. I hope they won't cancel it, but in December they have a nice illumination festival. I would like to shoot the video some day. Thank you so much for watching! 😄

Exactly how i estimated this city. Clean. No. Extremely clean. Green. Nice. I think it's the best place for the first Japan trip because it's not so big like Osaka or Tokyo.

I have never visited Kobe before. Tokyo and Osaka are my favorites. But I will give a visit to Kobe for sure in my next trip after most of us are vaccinated and allowed to travel to Japan

Very nice walk of the area! I got off at Sannomiya Station once before and walked around the station for about 20 mins but really didn't see much.

買い物できる場所いっぱいあるし、交通の便も抜群でしかも自然も豊かです！私は海外に住みたいけど地元が神戸なのは嬉しいです！
僕は姫路生まれで子供の頃は良く神戸に遊びに行ってました。今は東京に住んでいるのですが、まだルミナリエに行った事がないんです。いつかは行ってみたいなと思います。神戸は山と海が一緒に見れて、商業施設も充実してるけど、人混みが多すぎないと言う絶妙なバランスの保った街ですよね〜。また近いうちにお邪魔しますね〜。コメントありがとうございます！

I went for the first time in january, I found it lovely! We went to eat at Steakland in Kitanagasadori (near Sannomiya eki), went over the hills to see the old european diplomats residences, than finish the day walking through the port... absolutely beautiful! I forgot we also ate nikuman in nankin-machi at the shop you can see at 25:48

Nice walk! How does Kobe compare to Osaka?
Since Kobe has been known as a port town like Yokohama, it's been heavily influenced by foreign cultures like Europe and America. Many people see it as a fashionable and trendy city while Osaka is the one and only in a good way and a bad way. Of course Osaka is much bigger than Kobe so tourists can have more to see in Osaka. I shot a few videos in Osaka so please stay tuned! 😄
