I tried Jusant, I really was hoping in a good game, but I really couldn't like it. I don't think this game looks anything like Jusant, except for falling in the same "climbing" category. Jusant starts off with a very weak if absent plot motive for your climb, and it never actually recovers from there, only dropping frequent, overlong text notes to attempt some world building, and over-relying on the music and cinematography to push you forward, without an effective story or characterisation. This is what most videogames do today, and it is for me always a disappointing choice. This trailer, while minimal, clearly was deisgned to build an expectation of strong motives and a good plot, something that is rare in videogames.
It conveys struggle extremely well. Clearly a brave choice from talented developers to start off with that. From the first scream, you see shots that convey determination, strength, and persistence. Not everything is left to music or shiny graphics to underly "emotional" or "cinematic" aspects - a trite feature of most most games and their trailers. The choice from The Game Bakers is clearly to prioritize the build-up of some high stakes, of the expectation of strong motives and of a good plot, something that is rare in videogames.

Usually I think people are overly critical, but I gotta admit that usually I get at least a few genuinely interesting titles into my mind.. Now Cuffbust or whatever the alien-mouse-prison-escape thing was - and this were kinda most interesting onces and I still struggled to remember them.
The only game I'm interested in is Deer & Boy But I think the fest was just fine overall. All the companies that wanted to announced their games and we got to see a lot of actual gameplay instead of just padding
Jusant ?

@@alelom 100% agree ! The gameplay looks very similar tho
This is something new and interesting, but I can't help but wonder how the hand placements, finding footholds etc. will work...
Exciting that this comes from such talented developers as The Game Bakers which will do a great game as always :)
WHY ARE YOU SCREAMING

Climbing hard
screaming devs at GDC:
No views 20 seconds? They fell off
It's like the feminist in the woods screaming simulator.
Thanks for sharing your insightful wisdom champ!
She sounds like she's giving birth instead of climbing!! lol
Play Jusant. Less screaming.
The vibes are totally different though. Jusant seems like a chill game, while this looks like more hardcore.
