My entire house is run via HomeKit... except my doorbell and other cameras, which are Nest. My reason for staying with Nest with those is that they are the only camera option I could find that records 24/7 and marks motions. Plus, I can use geo-location on my phone to turn on/off interior cameras based on whether or not I'm home. The others only record motion. Having full footage is something that I want... and that footage has already come in handy. So, using Google/Nest for the cameras is something that I will stay with for the time-being. With that said... interesting problem has popped up using Siri commands recently. I use a series of HomePods and HomePod Minis as microphones throughout my house. Up until a few weeks ago, when I gave a command, it executed immediately. Now, it delays... Siri responds that the lights/accessories are being slow to respond... then the command happens. I'm assuming an upgrade did something, but have no clue. First time I have ever had problems using Siri voice commands. If I go to the Hue app and just hit the option I want, it works immediately.
Same here. I’m on a Nest/Google ecosystem of doorbells, exterior cameras, chrome casts and home /with displays. I’m too far in to switch to home kit devices. However I am weighing if the $6.00 monthly subscription is worth it.
I had a problem with my Wemo dropping from my network, needing to be restarted every few weeks. Wemo advised me last week to “split” my 2.4 and 5G networks. I had them tied together as a single network in my Netgear Nighthawk setup. No issues since. Firmware update forthcoming confirmed by Wemo. Hoping the firmware update are addresses the sensitive motion detector too. You welcome, people!
Eric, you really shouldn't recommend the Wemo video doorbell. I bought it after your recommendation and spent 7 hours of my life trying to connect the device without success. Apple Tech couldn't figure it out and Belkin doesn't provide support the product. On that glorious day when Apple decides to kick-off it off the HomeKit platform comes like it does frequently, a lot of owners will be stranded.
Personally I went with the Logitech given I had a shaded front porch and have owned many Logitech products over the years for my PCs. So far it’s been solid!

Here in the UK in May 2023 the ONLY Apple Home compatible doorbell is Netatmo. I would have purchased the Logitech but they do not sell it here. The Netatmo works well with Apple home. I fitted it with a wired transformer and a regular doorbell chime so that it sounds normal. It stores video on an internal card. It's quite large and comes with a wedge so it can be fitted at an angle to get a better view. Only had it for 7 weeks.
I came across this video and was really surprised I just lived this. I decided to order the Logitech doorbell because I was drawn to its design and reputation for 24/7 video. However, despite seeking assistance from Logitech's support team, it disconnected from my home hub around 20 times a day. After struggling for 22 days to resolve the issue, I returned it to Amazon and opted for the Belkin doorbell. It's been two months now, and I haven't encountered any problems with the Belkin doorbell; it connected seamlessly to my Wi-Fi. Although I don't have any special characters in my Wi-Fi password, I live in a rural area where such complexity isn't necessary. Totally get that this video is HomeKit focused but given you have ubiquiti would you consider getting one of their doorbell cameras? I am considering taking out all my eufy HomeKit cameras and replacing them with a Ubiquiti set up.
Not sure if you ever went with Ubiquiti cameras but I will say at least the last gen cameras, I'd stick with Eufy unless you want 24/7 recording. My parents have the Ubiquiti cameras setup and the night video quality is terrible in comparison to Eufy cam pro 2 at least, they have now started replacing the Ubiquiti cameras. Granted Ubiquiti has brought out a newer generation of cameras, so those might be better but they are also pricey. Plus no native HomeKit support on the Ubiquiti cameras.
@@chadbonadonna3778 What issues are you having with the Eufy cams? They have been very solid for me, their only downside I see is you can't record 24/7 but that's really not what they were made for anyways.

I have to disagree with your take on the doorbells. There’s no way I could endorse a product that forces a wifi passcode to use a less secure format. (No special characters). That’s a HUGE flaw imo and one that shouldn’t be brushed aside as minor. Also noticed a post today on the Reddit HK group w reporting a Wemo doorbell overheating. (Circumstances unknown). The overheating issue on Logitech has been terrible here in Ohio. Works fine all winter, but when the summer heat arrives, the camera goes off and on all afternoon. Logitech suggests moving the camera, but that makes no sense when visitors expect the doorbell to be adjacent to the door.
I’ve just gone and purchased the Netatmo Video Doorbell - the reason because I don’t have any existing chime. I like that Netatmo offer a in wall transformer or an AC plug in cable. Hopefully HSV comes to Netatmo.
A big difference I found between these two doorbells is that the WeMo only works with mechanical/analog (ding-dong) door bells. (One leatns this after checking the instructions.) I’ve had this Wemo Smart Doorbell for almost one year and it has been great except for one major problem that Belkin has yet been able to fix. Anytime my Wifi is out (power failure, moving the router, etc…) for more than 10 or 15 minutes the Wemo doorbell will not reconnect to the Wifi when it comes back online. ALL of my Homekit devices, including cameras, re-connect automatically except for the Wemo doorbell. With it I have to take it off its mount, push in the reset button on the back, then remount the doorbell. Not too bad when we are home….not workable at all when we are away from home on road trips. Has anyone else had this problem and If so have you been able to fix it? Thank You for any help you can offer!!!
My Vemo doorbell was working until before Christmas. Then one day I got a message in my iPhone "No Response - This camera is not responding". It has not worked since. The doorbell rings, it lights up outside but no camera. I tried a lot of things to get it so work but no luck. I have deleted it from Home app and reinstalled it. I have removed it and reinstalled it. It did work once when powered on USB inside but has not since. Don't know what to do?
My belkin wemo is constantly disconnecting.... 😞 Restarting (by removing the doorbell and poking the button) fixes it for a few days but then it's back to "not responding" in HomeKit. No specific pattern or event that seems to break it. I thought my mesh wifi (Asus) was part of the issue but bonding it to a specific node (while working) doesn't seem to help. I am able to do setup with a special character in my pw... seems like a different issue but I'll try without special characters - thanks!
I installed the Wemo last month and it's still going strong without any drop-outs. I was concerned about overheating since in our condo the midday sun reaches it even with an overhang. I have never had the doorbell shut off but I noticed the aforementioned midday sun -along with entryway stonework causes a false package detected message. In any case, this is more of a Homekit thing (package detection) and not the doorbell itself.

I wonder if the problem for the Logitech is heat in-and-of itself, or if it's sunlight. I'm pretty tempted to put one on my front porch, and that never gets any sunlight. However, where I live the outside temperature can get well over 90ºF in the summer. If the problem is temperature (and is not sunlight-related), do you know if people have tracked at what temperature it tends to fail?

Thanks for another great review. I’ve had the Logitech for almost a year. It is on my front porch, which faces mostly east and gets blasted with a hot mid Atlantic US sun. Never had it go offline other than when the power has gone out. I do wish that the Logitech had more vertical field of view, because I cannot see when packages are within 3 feet of my front door. Also, there is a substantial delay (I’ll estimate 5+ seconds) between when a person comes into view and when the doorbell notifies me on my iPhone and AppleTV 4K, resulting in me getting a notice that someone is at the door but they’ve already come and gone. The chime setup was clearly laid out in the instructions but, yeah, the adapter box had to be mounted outside of my chime box. Also, I tried not installing the chime adapter at first - bad idea as the chime box was continually drawing power.
I bought the logitech a few months ago. It works pretty well but has a few flaws. Every week or so it detects a package which isn’t there. Also, I was excited about being able to have lights turn on if the doorbell detected someone at night. Unfortunately if any motion is detected the lights turn on in my home. So right now the Living Room lights turn themselves on several times an hour.
Love my Bellini Wemo! I had issues with the initial setup but got it to fire it up when I switched to the Linksys velop router. It works great and really like the wide field of view for packages
Just the fact that you have to make your entire WiFi less secure by eliminating all the special characters is a reason to skip the Wemo doorbell. That’s a very sad security threat that you’d think a doorbell company would have in mind. Reducing the character set of WiFi passwords is not a compromise I’d be willing to make to have a less secure doorbell and less secure WiFi.
Here’s the thing. Ring alarm gives the best features for the price. The base station has everything you could want and is a eero 6 router. Having a ring camera/alarm/doorbell setup with eero has your mesh Wi-Fi is hands down the best overall setup there is. There’s better cameras, better doorbells, better mesh Wi-Fi, don’t know about better alarm though. Individually ring and eero make pretty solid products but can be beaten one on one. But there’s no other system that works so beautifully together like ring cameras/alarm/doorbell with eero for Wi-Fi.
My comment didn’t show up, I guess that’s because I used colorful language to describe the Logitech. Don’t buy if sunshine will hit it - mine is offline daily. Regret ever buying it and yes it’s been updated. Do NOT buy logictech circle doorbell
LOL the Belkin wouldn’t connect with special characters in the WiFI password??? That is indicative of *terrible* coding practices, who knows what other amateur hour crap they’re doing under the hood if they can’t even do that correctly…I would never buy that product.
I like the channel but the commercials are annoying. And to accept money from Eve, whose products and support are so poor, is a shame. Theirs are the only home automation products I’ve ever given up on and returned.
@@nephipower I had two of their Room 2 sensors. Set up was easy and each provided values for the things they were supposed to be looking for, albeit I'm unsure how accurate those values were. The problem came when I set up automations. I wanted my home air cleaners to be turned on when air quality dropped below a certain threshold. I ran test after test. I contacted Eve's tech support, which confirmed that I had set up the automations correctly. I returned both Eve Room 2 devices to Eve and they sent me new ones. Again I set up the aforementioned automations. But the automations never worked and Eve was unable to assist beyond saying that everything worked correctly in their lab.

Aqara G4 Doorbell seems to be the best one.
With your looks, homekit reviews and surname we should call you Homelander.
HomeBridge + ANY doorbell
the Logitech sucks, I had that and it moisture inside the ring bell and it does not works! and is a IP65 waterproof, Logitech bad for you
Here’s the thing.
What are the specs for the transformer that you are using for your doorbell?
@@nephipower 8-24V currently installed on 24V posts.
I am interesting to hear what issues you ran into with eve
