Bello brava un saluto dall Italia 🇮🇹 (Portofino) orrii fare una domanda ...dove si trova quel recipiente trasparente che usi per il vuoto? Grazie. Nicola
Just to be sure I didn’t miss something , I think you did say these blanks would go back in the oven , but you didn’t dwell on final part. I think the heat curing is an important part of the process. Your blanks look great. I have a pressure tank and pump on the way, so I’m looking forward to stabilizing some blanks.
That's really interesting to see all of this Pam. I suppose the only downside to these tall slim chambers is that you cannot stabilise anything very big like a bowl blank like you could do in the chamber you have. Out of interest is there a shelf life or the amount of times you can use the various liquids you were using in the video for colouring or stabilising?
Paul Lockwood It truly can be used up until 6 months of mixing the two parts together. Cactus Juice does have a shelf life of 6 months, and can be used over and over until heat activated.
Thank you Paul yes this one is narrow i could fit a box blank in no bother yes would need the bigger one to do a small bowl, you can get bags for bigger projects i understand. Once activated the cactus juice lasts 8 to 12 months so you get a lot of use from one container as it can be used over and over. :-)
@@Highlandboxes it shouldn’t, the air is already in the chamber it’s just moving from on place to another. I’m probably wrong so I’ll have to give it a try 😀
Any idea what happens if a secret wood like ring I mean wood with the epoxy resin part is put in the stabilizing resin? Will the epoxy resin get a thin coating of the stabilizing resin? as seen in the secret wood's video, they had put the whole ring including the epoxy resin part.. I'd like to see a video from you like that..
I have question somene could help me? I use vacuseal resin. I tried colored maple with blue. I watched 100videos in yt..but the color is dull and inside not blue.(in the middle) Blank size 135*40*40mm.
Make sure the wood is really dry also if the wood is really dense it won’t penetrate it. I dry my wood in oven overnight at about 80c once vacuumed and all bubbles gone leave to soak for a few days
@@Highlandboxes i was put the oven around 28hours on 90c. Started 195g went down 155g it was absolutly dry probably.I was put the vacuum chamber around 24-26hours.Oven again 100c 90minutes. When i finished with stabilizing the color was nice when i was taken off from oven the color was dull.I thougght no problem i will polishing..but when i cut i have seen..o.oo..something wrong because not colored everywhere. How do i know that the color everywhere in the wood? Wasnt enought the 26hours in the resin? I was reading lots of comment and i watched million yt video but couldnt find same question. I would like to make " bicska"(hungarian traditional knife)i want to make colored knifehandle to my brother thats why i asked. Thank you for your help.

Really cool results, the blank you turned is awesome. Take care my friend
Thank you Thom :-)
Pam can you just suck up dye into the blanks in the first stage or do you have to use dyed cactus juice?
Great looking blanks Pam. Cheers, Jim
Thank you Jim :-)
I like that small chamber. I wouldn't mind trying one of those out myself.
Yeh i love it so well made. :-)
The turned blank looks great.
Thank you Paul :-)
please how long the submerged wood for pigmentation? then goes to the oven and then goes to stabilization?
Thanks

Hey, nice video! What is the name of the equipment used in the video to do the stabilization? Where can I buy?
This is so awesome! Thanks for sharing it!
Thank you :-)
Pam what dyes did you use, and what type of dyes can be used
Thanks for the great video
Rob
Hi rob these were cactus juice dyes but can also use alumilite dyes which work great :-)
I'm thinking I can use artisan dyes which are alcohol based, I want to start playing today lol
Thanks again Pam
Rob
That's awesome, Pam! I want to get into stabilizing at some point, but that will be when the funds allow...
Yes took me a while to get all the equipment together as its very expensive. Many thanks :-)
Great video Pam :)
Thank you David :-)
Thanks for the info. I’m thinking about starting with casting and stabilization.
Would placing a shutoff valve on the pump side save you from having to run the pump full time?
Im no expert but i think it would loose vacuum as air comes out of wood :-)

The blanks turned out really nice. Love the double dip method. Going to have to try it. How long do you let them soak for on both ends?
If i remember right it was soaked around an hour. Thank you :-)
Great tutorial Pam,sweet blanks! Will the knotted blank, after stabilising, be a little easier to turn? Thanks👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you alan, yes it should be better to turn now. :-)
Good tutorial Pam
Thank you Rob :-)
Another question Pam!! you have a small and neat oven there , what make is it if you don't mind me asking
Hi Ron i just went for a cheap toaster oven on amazon i will link it for you :-) amzn.to/2RqOBw0
The proof is in the pudding. Good results Pam :)
Thank you Ron :-)
Dear Madam, what time does the wood have to be in the dye and that time in the oven before its stabilization, thank you for your information.
Hey, a UA-cam ible. How cool is that?
Thank you :-)
do you have to use the cactus juice dye pam,or can you use the aluminise dyes also.
Hey John no Alumilite colours work great as well :-)
Is cactus juice actually juice from a cactus 🌵 ❓
No it’s just the name :-)
at the last stage I thought I had to put it in the furnace to solidify you

yeah kinda strange.. :p haven't seen anyone else do that in any tutorial too..

@@14magyar88 If you want only one color, then you may dye it in an alcohol dye and then dry it and stabilize in transparent resin.
in general, alcohol dyeing penetrates more than resin dyeing
Great info Pam! How is the chess set going?
Thank you Ronald chess set going well hope to get the next video up over next few weeks :-)
