Both Rambo and Rocky will surprise you if you only think of Stallone as an action star. He's actually quite an impressive actor, but he was type cast almost immediately as an "action star" so that's what people are most familiar with him for. If you want to see him in something more dramatic, check out Cop Land (1997). It's a good film in general, but you'll also get to see Stallone's acting ability.

The reason why these scenes take so long is because directors like to shoot every scene from every possible angle, review it and see which angle he likes the best. In between the review process , cameras, tracks and lighting have to be moved and readjusted. It takes up a lot of time.

This movie is so goofy and over the top, really showed Stallone's comedic chops. The only accurate prediction was what happens with all utopian societies or "paradises." That they are built on blood, death, and an oppressed underclass
I remember this when it came out in theaters back whenI was a kid and Taco Bell was doing commercials for this movie. It was the first time, and only time, a fast food franchise did marketing for an R-Rated action movie. The 90's man, it was so weird even back then because most marketing from a fast food chain was for PG, PG-13 or G rated movies if there was a movie tie in. The only other tie in I remember seeing that came close was when McDonald's had a happy meal based on Batman Returns which when people actually saw it in the theater were like "probably too violent and weird to advertise to kid's". I enjoyed the movie but I was used to violent movie at that age already, Lol

Two films that are a "must watch" for Sylvester Stallone:

It's funny how someone your age sees so many differences between the future proposed in the movie and our real time and someone my age sees how much reality has towards that future from the time the movie came out, we didn't take the warning seriously enough, we just laughed it off. I always say that while sci-fi writers invent stories as warnings, powers that be unfortunately see inspiration in them.

For other Stallone movies I would recommend „First Blood“ and „Cop Land“.
For a movie with Denis Leary in the main role, you could watch „The Ref“.
The futuristic gun is actually a H&K G-11, which was developed for the German Bundeswehr and was using caseless ammunition. It had a special firing mode in wich it could fire three shots before the recoil reached the shooter.
It was never adopted though. The project was scrapped, when NATO switched to the 5.56mm caliber.
In Germany Taco Bell was replaced with Pizza Hut, because Taco Bell wasn‘t that well known.
Nice catch that the police captain and the warden from Shawshank were performed by Bob Gunton. I had to smirk at the „obtuse“ reference.
This movie is far from perfect, but it is very entertaining. The Schwarzenegger Library is hilarious, because Schwarzenegger hadn’t even been gouverneur back then.
