This game reminds me of Etrian Odyssey, which is by far my favorite video game franchise or all time. I've been itching to play more dungeon crawlers in anticipation for Etrian Odyssey 6, so this is a definite buy for me. Thank you man
The bad thing is, none of these Japanese Wizardry style games (even the ones where they use Sir-Tech's Wizardry name) can hold a candle to Wizardry 7. Why did we step back from a whole world in this perspective and gameplay to single dungeon levels?
This game caught my eye immediately and its on the list. I just need to get through Labyrinth of Refrain before I pick up another DRPG. Glad you are liking it and glad it seems to be another great DRPG. If only Atlus would bless us with another Etrian Odyssey, but at least we have these other titles filling in the void.
@@MabiVSGames thanks for the reply. Don't know if you are into retro gaming or not but in this style I would seriously advise playing Wizardry Tales of the Forsaken Land. It's a ps2 game but it was my first first person dungeon crawler and it was amazing. The story is fleshed out, the music is phenomenal an the vibe of the game is pretty cool.
I've played about 20 hours in this game and my only draw back and what ultimately pushed me away is how sluggish and clunky movement feels when not using auto-traverse
I think the one thing I would really change on this game, is to expand upon the themes and story bits touched upon by the story. It’s a great game that I love playing and I would love to get even deeper into the story and lore, that I feel are just lightly touched upon. There are some really cool and very dark story concepts that could be expanded on. Probably my favorite DRPG.
I REALLY like this game, especially the whole theme. It reminds me of Etrian Odyssey a lot, but with a hint of horror. But I'm not sure if it's the game, but I always get a ton of delays when interacting. I was doing the first boss, and after doing the item throwing thing, i literally waited 30+ seconds before it actually appeared! I'm not sure if it's the game being slow, or if it's intentional, or because my version is slow (I was on ps4) If it wasn't so sluggish with the whole delays, I'd love it even more. But right now, it's going to take me a while.
How would you rank this one compared to similar dungeon crawlers? Experience Inc’s other offerings come to mind. Does this one has a lot of replay value, or new games plus?
Thank you so much for making videos like this 🙏😊 I've been looking forward to this for a long time 😁 And I heard that sweet sweet Castlevania music in the background 🥳
Thank you all for your help and suggestions. Overdrive is an ability boost I use at the beginning or in the middle of battle. In general, I had hopes that the party would slowly replenish mana over time as they continued through the dungeon, much like other rpgs/mmorpgs. I suppose I can wish for a patch...
@@lbrandon1469 in other experience games(savior of sapphire wings/stranger of sword city) certain classes like clerics and wizards gained mana regenerating skills at some point. wouldnt be surprised if thats the case in this title too.
Hi, thanks for the reivew. Sorry, I know it's an old video, but I would like to ask a question: is there any RNG in that game? and are the dungeons random? (I mean the layouts)
looks pretty good but there are too many other games i want coming soon to spend 60 on this. the new doom game and star wars outlaws are 2 games i'm really excited for. didn't think i'd be excited for anything star wars these days, but that game looks amazing.
The problem with the game is that it is extremely slow, the slowest I've played so far and I'm not even talking about the gameplay, even to start a simple dialog takes 15 to 25 seconds which is a long time considering that the game is full of dialogues.
Is it worth the $60? Love anything with a good story, challenge, gameplay. Graphics don’t mean anything without feeling immersed in the game itself & even a game can be good but feel left somewhat disappointed. Love dark souls, persona, mgs & anything of the sort…just never played a dungeon crawler before
Hm.. well it's tough to recommend to anyone who isn't too familiar with dungeon crawlers for 60$.. I personally enjoy it. Skim through my ongoing let's play and see more of the story+gameplay ua-cam.com/play/PLPf68stuhyq60aoBojuYQT-G6a2ZNKipI.html
If there's a reason to get this on steam instead of consoles, it's for cheat engine's speed hack. This game and any other game from the same devs, is best played in x3 speed.

Awesome to hear. This game deserves more attention, :D
You should check labyrinth of refrán. Its the game that made me fell in love with the gendre.
Yes Love Etrian Odyssey I hope they will bring a collection edition for the Switch 🥰

I ain't whiting etrian switch cause they litelaly did what they did for p3 and other games the bade game and not dlc added game which is silly af.
Wizardry games are one of the loves of my life. I need to play this one. Love its more modern aesthetic. Cheers mate. Great review.
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed it, :D

Now it's late but playing this game now and lovin it. Since I discovered these type of games over 20 years ago I got hooked. Nice video btw.
Thanks! So many of these types of games to discover. Have fun, :D

Appreciate the insight. My copy just showed up today 👍
Currently $53 on Amazon
It's pretty expensive but I definitely got my money's worth!

Absolutely. There's SOME lore here and there but honestly not much to be anywhere near satisfying

Hmm wouldn't be able to give you an accurate ranking! D:. game is pretty long from what I'm playing so far though. not sure about replay value

Omg this is the half-truth
I've wondered how, aside from potions, does the party regenerate mana? I felt that the only other way was to go back to camp. Any ideas? Thx!
Mana? Besides potions not sure
using the switch boost overdrive gives you free casting potentially every other turn

Hey! I haven't come across any randomized dungeons. It's primarily just RNG encounters and loot
On the battle screen in the top right corner as well as on the map in the same areas, WHAT IS IT and how does it work
They're buffs. Once you active via skills them they highlight there
@@MabiVSGames Thank you. I was lookin thru the info section and came across it too. I'm likin it so far gotta play this in spurts though.
Did you buy the physical version?
Was there one? I didn't, :(
Im 100% getting this nezt paycheck lol good job buying me on it haha. More into my god dsmn backlog pog. 😊

is the game too easy?
As soon as he said Dungeon Crawler, I noped right out of there. I'm sure it's fun for other people, just not for me.
Good to be informed before purchase or not!

Oo good point
Looks intersting
wait for sale? no, this kinda games will run out so quickly since market and stores dont order this kinda games on stock alot.
It's a bit expensive. I'd say a REALLY good fair price would be around 35$
I'll get it. When it drops to $30. So pretty much never.
you can now
Complete waste of good money, battle terrible and ruins possibly good game
Oo sorry to hear, what did you hate about it? :D
Please tell me why I should buy a title like this at $60 when a AAA title like Dragon Quest 11 exists?
Honestly. Just be honest. Have some integrity.
sigh.. the brain capacity on this one
Why would you ever watch a television drama when AAA Marvel blockbusters exist???? lol apples and oranges man.
Because this game is better than Dragon Quest 11, easy!
Next question.
