Just my opinion, but, I think the spacing between the mirror and the cup holder rod could’ve been placed further apart. Otherwise, nice makeover! Glad you removed those honeycomb mirrors.
Yes! I agree with you 💯 The thing was, the fridge opens up on that wall, and it wouldn't open up all the way through if I had the rod a little more on the right 😭 I don't know why I didn't address this in the video, but it was a struggle on its own 😅
Mon, i suggest, flip the mirror so the heavier part is on the left side. That would balance a bit. The right side is abit heavier to look at. But your coffee station is nice. Wish i can make one dor myself. 😊
Yes, excellent suggestion, it will be more balanced. Just buy a darker stain for the edge, as it will now be turned towards the living room. It’s such a small area to touch up, you will probably only need to buy sample size/testers, if the brand has them. Buy a couple or three that are close on shade, and test at home which one will suite best. If you happen to still have the piece that you sawed off, it would be perfect for testing different nuances of the stain. It isn’t a very big change, but I think it will be a positive change. ❤️
Really cute!. I will tell you based on my own experience that you should put some kind of a plastic tray under the actual coffee maker. They always drip and leek and pretty soon you'll have a stained wood top. Same thing with the coffee implements on your little cutting board. Those things always leak and unless you put something under them after you wash them and dry them you're also going to have spots there. If you're going to use the cutting board I'd recommend sanding it down and giving it a coat of polyurethane. Really cute!
Love your new coffee station! Good call cutting off the end of that mirror, it looks much better! Also, great job assembling the island. I always hear people complaining about having to assemble Ikea furniture but I LOVE doing it. Just watching you assemble that island makes me a little jealous and makes me want to go to Ikea!
guess I have to get it then and hoard it in my basement until I get an apartment 🙈. I will try to get the same would finish as you because I love the outcome but I will paint it before assembly. Easier to lay out to dry 🙈😅✌🏻.
Wow! 🤩 The new coffee station set up is gorgeous. I wish I had something to add, but watch you for design inspiration. I need all the help I can get in that area.
Looks great. I have a very similar, but larger wooden trolley from IKEA. You could probably use wood scratch repair pens to fill in the jagged front where you cut the mirror. They are reasonably inexpensive and easy to use.
I love it. It's attractive, practical and homey. I too am a coffee enthusiast and this gives me some good inspiration to change my coffee area out. Thank you, as always.
I think they already do pay…she is just advertising all their products. 😅. Or is it obsession? It’s ok though, hehe. But yeah. Should be getting paid for all that promotion…
I used this ikea kitchen trolley in my own home, but I attached a rail to the trolley itself plus a beer bottle opener and some cup hooks where I hang my measuring cups.
Hi Mon, I was literally waiting for this video to have an idea how you created your coffee station. Last week I bought the same workstation after watching your recommendation in your last video. Mine is placed in a square alcove and I added shelvings on the wall for my coffee essentials and mugs. Yours is so beautifully done!😍Thank you loads to you for the idea! Love ❤️ from Malaysia 🇲🇾 for Mars
Aww that's so nice!!! 🥰 I was thinking about shelves too, but I couldn't find ones that would fit in the space between the mirror and the fridge. Maybe will do some in the future 💞
Hi Mon! Excellent job. I'm sure once you repair your wall it will look even better...I believe I read you were working on that next. Looking forward to your next video!
Coffee corner looks really nice. Cutting veneered wood with jig-saw is not a good idea. For fixing a metal bar, may be screws with flat heads could look nicer?
Few hints if I may. Fix the sideboards, definitely paint the wall and definitely do NOT mix more than 2 types of wood. Also, if you cut such laminated wood as the mirror frame, apply a bit of painters tape on the area you cut with the jigsaw. For one, you'll get something easily removable you can draw the outline on and second you will not chip the edges of the laminated veneer.
I will sort out the wall for sure!! It bothers me so much! 🤣 However, I like mixing woods, and I do it all around my house actually 😅 I know it's an eyesore for most people, but for me it gives an eclectic look I absolutely adore 🥰
@@HomeByMon I agree, I have afro-boho theme in my home and mixing woods is a must! Thanks for sharing cart from Ikea idea. I'm looking for what to use as a coffee/microwave station to go in corner of my dining room. Love that I can stain this to the color I want.
Were you wearing protective goggles when cutting with the jigsaw? Your coffee station is marvelous and so well organized. Your new coffee maker brand/link is not listed in the description. Did you already do a separate coffee maker video? Thank you and be safe because you are talented with these tools!
I'm definitely not proud of not using protection 😔 I will next time, I promise 🫶 Also, I got it from a local store, but I'll link the model into the description box right away!!
@HomeByMon 👍 thank you for the upcoming coffee machine information. I am in the market for one and there are so many more choices now! Thank you again.
I have an old grinder, but it doesn't do the best work. I'm thinking of upgrading to a Krups grinder. It's a budget one, but I think it would do the trick 🥰
I know most people don't like mixing woods, but I love it! I do it throughout my whole house. It gives me this eclectic look I absolutely adore 🥰 but I get it, it can be annoying to most people 😔
I was sad about the mirror cutting too. I thought it just needed to be turned so that the smaller end was next to the coffee station, but your idea of cup hooks is fab.
I like the coffee station, the cup rack and the artwork, but the mirror is just all wrong. It and the rack are fighting for attention. Also, the mirror looks very antique and out of place in your very modern kitchen area. A similar one hung over a buffet in my grandparent’s dining room 75 years ago. Something smaller and more modern would harmonize more. Something colorful. And go vertical with whatever you put there. Get it well away from the cup rack.
So glad you liked the coffee station ☺️ And yes, I will rethink the mirror, however, I like adding vintage things like that into my home. When everything is new and modern, it kinda looks sterile to me, and that's why I insisted on adding it 😅 But we'll see, maybe I will change it the upcoming dining room refresh ☺️💕

Amazing that you do everything yourself!!! I have the "bekvam" table in my kitchen since 18 years and love it!

Well done, the only thing I would probably have done different is hang the mirror vertically and maybe paint the mirror black
I tried it vertically first, but that meant I had to deal with the wall 😅 So I will paint the wall asap, and then maybe I can do it vertically 🥰
Just do as you think best, it is your home after all, I mearly expressed my opinion 🥰
