Well i for one greatly admire Labrie he has triumphed over adversity superbly after his throat injury and never given up, he is a typical Taurus, how many singers would carry on after a throat injury? Not many, and his voice is good now, when you consider his age and what happened to his vocal chords, i think he sounds good, and very few singers have that emotional depth to their voice that he has. Peace people :)
What a great song! This should be played on radio stations. I actually wish all Dream Theater songs were played on the radio, but most people are too simple-minded for the complexity of their music.
*lost not forgotten. I'm more focused on beyond this life, breaking all illusions, a rite of passage, and the spirit carries on right now. I plan on launching those out at the same time.
I've played songs throughout their discography. Like Yste Jam and Fortune in Lies from WDADU, and so on, to songs like Outcry and Breaking all illusions. Like 2 or three songs from each album, except SFAM (I can play the entire album, albeit a few mistakes). I've done songs from BC and SL, Systematic Chaos, just random songs from all of the albums. The list would be pretty big.
People say that LaBrie is getting old and that's the reason for his vocal problems, but Geddy Lee is 10 years older and his also been singing his entire life in a band that demands it, and his voice it still powerful than ever, and its actually a joy to hear in concert (not on DVD's) unlike LaBrie's, which isn't necessarily bad, but just unpredictable.
2003-2006 were his best live performances post-rupture. By Octavarium his voice has been fully recovered, he's just gotten too old to really sustain it without it falling flat. The Score performance was spectacular, though.
it's sad how weak labrie's voice is now and you can clearly see and hear it at the end of the song. still a great singer though plus he's been taking good care of his voice for a while now, but i can't imagine what dream theater would have been with labrie's images and words voice power and range.
*Pats LtGeneralMayhem on the head*. There there. We're all entitled to our views, precious. Whether or not I can sing has no bearing on LaBrie's competence. Now run along.
@txdrummerboy98 The timbre of the keyboard on the solo is just ridiculous, in my opinion... Not just in this music, but at all. For me it sounds like Jordan wanted his space on this music anyway. This sucks. For me it's a beautiful song and this keyboard just didn't matched with it. It sounds funny, not realistic, maybe 'unseemly' is the right word. I guess a piano, or maybe a guitar solo would fit better.
Er, no. What I will do is continue to have my opinion, whether you like it or not and if that is an issue for you then you can kindly go away and throw your little tantrums elswhere. MMMMKAY? KTHXBAI.
Voice not good ..James labrie out of tune always when sang in live but john petrucci rocks \m/ u are good as always and always be and can't hear this song anymore this song really wanna makes me cry :(
Please, James Labrie, don't sing in live, you are always out of tune. This song is wonderful in studio, but Labrie on stage = out of tune, again and again, every live of DT I can listen on youtube, and 5 time I see them on live, Labrie out of tune....
I can't stop crying every time I listen to this damn song. This one, and "disappear" and "the spirit carries on". Goddammit.
this is an amazing song...and an amazing duo...
he loves being in this band and his enthusiasm has been infectious
i like how mangini is barely doing anything and he has this huge smile on his face
what!? that keyboard solo is very restrained (for Jordan) and sounds perfect in the context of the song.
To each his own I guess
lyrically ....insightful....vocally heartfelt...instrumentally beautiful...
a very well composed piece of music....imho
Great B.! congratulations, specially for Breaking all Illusions i think that is not only a song.. is a MASTERPIECE!!!
quei bravi ragazzi..e quanto amore che genera la musica....;)

great performance by LaBrie!
...beautiful......thank you chromeboy!.....love you John!!...x
I DO love his voice... *.* ... and the band itself too xD
Beautiful... That is it. Beautiful.
it is the best part of the song, it puts a lot of emotion into the lyrics...
i like the way John Petrucci ending the song with a smile.... :)
Great song DT!
Yesss, finnaly a video in which I can the see the chords :) Thanks!
The best performance of Myung in this song!!!!!!!!!
*lost not forgotten. I'm more focused on beyond this life, breaking all illusions, a rite of passage, and the spirit carries on right now. I plan on launching those out at the same time.
this so cool..like this
i know it's awesome
very very nice quality. thanks for the upload.
love it! Thank you :)
the best festival
This one hits me hard.
Haha yeah in like 2007 - 2008 people thought he lost it, but then in 2009 and now his voice is AWESOME :)
MARAVILLOSO!!!
and the best of times
Actually the song is performed as in the album version, and sounds good.

Exactly!
Sinto sua falta... ASC

"Is there ever really a right time?" I don't know... What that matters are the good times ... ;)
i find it ironically funny that its the only song you've covered/uploaded in your channel xD

...a penny for your thoughts...John........x
Octavarium was his best in the 2000's. Afterwards, it was just studio goodness, live is unpredictable.
That's because you are fricking amazing and we suck. That's what.
like this

yeah they are ... he loves to work out
omg. please sing this song in Brazil please....
I feel like having Kevin on the keys.....then the song would made my life...
i saw that you are a drummer..wich songs of Dream do you play?
присоединяюсь))
2:00 - 2:05 the guy taking the video got goosebumps..
cheffigo labrie col pizzo! :D
again, to each his own ... I purchased the geosynth app specifically to learn this solo in spite of the fact that I'm a drummer (as well as guitarist)
And this time John Myung is the one hiding behind those huge amplifiers.
You were saaching for the waards for the moment to emaarge
Didn't even see Mike until a minute in lol.
Can't tell if sarcasm or honesty....
I never noticed he is doing something, next thing you say me that myung is playing in this song! D:
i thought this was a song from some pop-emo bands(from first to last, secondhand serenade etc.) first time i heard it...
JP looks relieved that JL did'nt screw up the last vocal part xD
many more*
Even though its a ballad, jesus christ. John Petrucci makes the guitar parts hard as hell.
For me, the keyboard solo including sound, notes, style are perfect for the song. Jordan is the composer, you´re not.
I really hate the ending, it was not necessary to go up an octave and ruin it James. Love this song.
Myung practicing backstage..
great now go play Lost And Forgotten :D
When you hear LaBrie without compression and effects it is clear he should have been fired years ago.
damn... 4:14
4:15 o no... not my underwear again!
*Pats LtGeneralMayhem on the head*.

This song would sound much better played arranged for fingerpicking, using much more pedal notes. Anyway the thing is great
That, and their songs are far too long for typical radio play.
por uality sound
So are his arms haha.
on the beginning.labrie sounds a lot like my granny..but..only on the beginning ok dear dream theater nerd...
What? This guitar is easy xD I even covered it.
Er, no. What I will do is continue to have my opinion, whether you like it or not and if that is an issue for you then you can kindly go away and throw your little tantrums elswhere. MMMMKAY?
KTHXBAI.
I love this music. But Jordan Rudess just had to scew up with this ridiculous keyboards.
Voice not good ..James labrie out of tune always when sang in live but john petrucci rocks \m/ u are good as always and always be and can't hear this song anymore this song really wanna makes me cry :(
you don't have ears?
I don't think he's been a decent live singer since the vocal cord rupture.
That happens when you get older and your hairline receeds ...
petrucci's forehead is getting bigger
and don't make vibrato when you're out of tune, vibrato is bad !
ZZzzz... so bored... what the fuck is this? hahaa
it sounds like Luis Miguel hahahaha
Please, James Labrie, don't sing in live, you are always out of tune.
