Don't send him any letters cause he ain't got time to fool with all that mess. If you gotta hat, he'll pay you a "reasonable" price. Great sponsor - Golden Flake cheese & peanut butter crackers. Good stuff right there, them and an ice cold coky coler.
I’m a Vol fan (so Bear Bryant’s Bama teams caused me lots of misery, growing up 😂). That said, this clip is EPIC!! My gosh, to call Bear Bryant a “Legend” or an “Icon,” just doesn’t seem like enough. This clip just says it all. There’s really no way to describe the man.
Love this!!! If Nick Saban made the same plea today, every sporting apparel store in America would be manufacturing them before the day was over. Reminds me of Nike manufacturing straw hats when Bobby Bowden was diagnosed with skin cancer and was told to wear them out in the sun.
@@josephjohnson448 HAHAHAHA!!! My father had one! I remember it when I was a little boy. I remember I had a pair of pants just like that. The trend back in the mid 70's was to match solids with plaids. So either the sportscoat was solid or plaid or the trousers. But NEVER both. As I recall, my combo was green. Green plaid pants and a solid green sportscoat. Somewhere around here I have a picture of me on Easter wearing that.
I've never actually seen a picture of Bryant wearing the exact same houndstooth hat that people wear now. It seems he did wear plaid more often, and when he did wear houndstooth it was like a blend of that and plaid.
I, too, have never understood how the houndstooth thing got started about 15 years ago. Bryant wore a handful of houndstooth hats in the 60s. But the 70s were almost entirely these big plaids.
One of a kind.
True legend
I bet that people sent Coach a MILLION Hats after this aired.
They did actually!
This is amazing.
I bet he got plenty sent to him after that.
growing up in the 70's on sunday after a game.. watching the bear bryant show was a must.. fun memories "bingo that was a goodie"...
Me and my brother too. Loved it when they would take sips of the bottled coke!!!
"Bingo Buddy Brown!"
Part of the fabric of my youth.
RIP Coach Bryant. What a legend.
Priceless!
I still remember that show. Damn, I'm old, lol...
I Remember watching this show! Too. Man...I can't believe it's been that many years ago. I was 12 years old. 😳😳😳
Yeh...
I bet he got dozens mailed to him after he made that announcement.

@Tommy Ford True. They're both good. I grew up on LANCE.

I love this - A legend asking for help finding hats to buy from his fans/ supporters. Classic Bear Bryant!
That's really cool. Real talk from a real legend

Interesting how he slipped in that a BLUE one would do! Musta been desperate.
CAN WE MEET AT THE WILL CALL GATE???
He had a coke bottle just like Saban!
What?
@@donavonmacallister3101 Go watch a Saban interview and come back to this one.
How do you use up a hat? We're not talking rubber gloves here
Hey Bear! 1973 called. It wants that sportscoat back! 🤣😂😜

Did he ever get a hat?
I sure hope so, but i dont know.
Yes, A LOT. I think he got so many they had to auction them off.
Nah. He got a few offers, but none of them were for a reasonable price.
@@chriswebster24 he will pay for a 5 star but not a hat
Plaid and not houdnstooth. LMAO.
