i treated myself to that lens a few years ago as my kit zoom lens wasn't quite doing what i wanted - took some saving for! And i agree it is an epic lens. the only issue i have is i do find it heavy to lump around with me, made my back very painful when its in my camera bag and holding it whilst walking is tricky to say the least., it also meant i could not take a smaller lens for normal or landscape stuff. as bag is already heavy. i can't use it handheld - it causes too much pain really and i am not steady enough - so have to carry a tripod - more gear! i just ended up being too preoccupied with setting up that i would miss what was going on in front of me, so i have ended up using it for just photographing my friends garden and occasionally if i go out and just set down in one place for the day, but it needs my trolly to help get it to places! amazing bit of kit really is.
What kind of bag are you using ????????? ... if standard shoulder or rucksack then it will give you back pain ... I use a Manfrotto Prolight comes with a waterproof cover .. though if you have a small tripod .. it will hinder the cover to a degree . cost me 134 a year or 2 ago from wex in Glasgow . Allows me to carry 2 camera's and 6 lenses . and extra spaces to fit/put other stuff in
@@colintraveller i do not use a standard rucksack, but i do suffer with various chronic pains which leads to being unable to carry much, camera bags is not the issue.
My gripe with the lense .. is NON EXISTANT Firmware updates and i've had mine for over 2 years. And not one channel that has reviewed it ever mentions this , Everytime you customise each channel 1,2 over time it falters .. the tripod mount is useless and in the wrong place .. it offers zero stablility to the lense nor does equal weight distribution .. causes lense shake/vibration I use mine with my Canon 850D and 90D .
