I got one a couple of weeks ago and paired it with a Canon 7D and am really happy with the results , I was lucky enough to pick mine up with the dock for £650 an absolute steal .
I picked mine up with the dock for £650 also and paired to the Canon 7D and get fantastic results, I paid £200 for my 7D with a 2000 shutter count , So for £850 i got a brilliant deal.
Hi. Firstly check all settings, I've been shooting sports recently and tack sharp. Then just use pieces of fruit or something in the back yard trying different settings. You could have a play at micro adjusting camera to lens, there are plenty of vids on it.
Had this lens for 2 years now and I like it. How ever mine has got slightly sticky manual focus ring that prevent manual focusing most of the time. Any one else that have the same problem? For birds hand held I keep my shutter speed at 1/2000 and f/8 auto iso. Get plenty of sharp images when paired with my canon 80d and same amount of soft shots 😉 It’s an affordable setup.
I have exactly the same camera and lens. I did buy the dock with mine and I have updated the firmware. I watched a few video's about the lens and they showed a focus discrepancy where the camera thinks it is focused but in fact it is slightly out from where it thinks it is. You can use the dock and Sigma software to correct this but it's a huge lengthy process. My lens doesn't seem to suffer with this so I didn't bother. I have done some minor wildlife photography with the lens and I've also done quite a bit at Duxford of fast moving planes. I tried with a tripod but just could get on with that what with the angles required etc. So I tend to shoot hand held and most (not all) of the photos are tact sharp. It definitely worth the money. The only reason that I will upgrade to the RF system will be for the video capabilities. I really struggle trying to video from the back screen. I really need an EVF.
Thanks for commenting. I tend to be handled when doing sport as in today. I'm one of the photographers at a baseball tournament my sonis playing in down at Hemel Hempstead. Agreed, video from the bacl screen can be a bit odd.
I use with my Nikon D500 and it's awesome. I do now mainly use a 500mm f4, and it does give better bokeh etc...but i still use my Sigma as it's more versatile. Great price for a very good lens producing lovely images.
I've had mine for 2 yrs . For the money it's the cheapest 600mm zoom lense on the market . When it works it works when it goes fubar . it's a pain . It is a flawed lense ..and if you customise it after a period of time it falters . Also don't expect any updates at all because there is NONE . At times it feels i wasted 40 quid on the Usb dock . And the lense is prone to Soft shots bigtime i lost a few because of it ..when using to capture Yachts . Also the PLACEMENT OF THE tripod collar offers zero stability to the lense .. And i've watched a multitude of reviews which they never have the decency to say . Your the only one to mention that it's too short but stop short of mentioning the crap placement of the collar .. The vibration / shake is sooo bad at times when i tighten the tripod mount the target ends up moving out of the crosshairs . It's annoying as chuff tbf ..
I've also got the 90D and 150-600 contemporary and have managed some very pleasing photos with it. I would happily recommend it!
Thanks for commenting, John 🙂
