Polyphia the band that started on my metal playlist, now stays on the chill playlist
I just started listening to them like two months ago. My buddy said the same thing about the metal thing. But he's a drummer and said their new drummer is better. I havent listened to anything besides their last two albums. Kind of afraid to actually. Haven't listened to "metal-y" tunes in a while now. Dont wanna ruin the amazingingness I've discovered here... Ya know?
dannyfromkenosha Why would it ruin it? Go for it
It’s pretty good, besides it’s not a super hard or agressive kind of metal. You might enjoy it, just give it a try
When was it ever metal to begin with
@@TheMetalheadextreme Their first album is Djent.
This is so good. My new favorite instrumental band. Some of the best drum sounds I've ever heard.
Animals as Leaders? Vitalism?
Drum. Sounds on this album are phenomenal
Tama drums are the shit.
DANNY CARREY....
Definitely dude. Clay is a goddamn animal
When Mario and Erick enter their solo, its like opening up another portal
Just found this band - ordered the three studio cds for my Christmas present to myself - magic (see us olduns do keep our ears open) .. from a new 69 year old fan
Glad boomers appreciate this aswell =)

I love that I can hear the Chon vibes in the structure of this song, very subtle but still there. A fucking masterpiece.
Yup
Best fusion
They stole the show for me
The yassification of musical instruments
The subtle tilt and sway of the camera from 1:21 to 1:26 really sells the cuts and makes what should be harsh breaks between footage feel fluid and smooth. Just a tiny little detail in a masterpiece of a song and music video.
That was definitely added in post

I love this song; the Chon guys really balance out Polyphia’s quirks.

Ok, forget everything I've ever said. THIS is definitely my favourite Polyphia track. And the video editing is out of this world, especially the kaleidoscope ending. Art like this makes me remember that not all humans are war-mongering a-holes.
Glad they picked up Clay A on drums, hes been such a great fit for them. He's become one of my favorite drummers to watch
The vibe they jump into at 2:52 is too sick like gahdamnnn

So weird how they started out as metalcore. They’ve developed into a completely different direction over the years ^^

Agreed. Almost should have changed their name given how completely different this is from their early stuff.
Ya they learned how to make real music and not just pretentious wankery.

So often you see similar bands try to compete with each other it’s a breath of fresh air to see these guys appreciate each other’s talent and collab!
Everything about this song from the chon solo to the end just punches so hard. Right in pocket. From that tasteful lick from tim mid-chon solo to the nasty drum fill at the end of it to tge groovy outtro. This was peak prog era
soft/melodic prog rock with modern metal influence, what a genre
More like soft/melodic prog rock with a modern trap influence, since that’s what they all listen to exclusively
@@Viper-dz2kw Not all, Tim for sure yeah, but Scott and Clay G still love old school metal i think. For the Drummer I don't know. But yeah, as Tim has a major influence in the writing process you can clearly hear his trap inspirations.
@@Crabcore1 Drummer has some masterclass jazz technique so I wouldn't be surprised he's a jazz kid that grew up loving rock and other genres.
@@Viper-dz2kw What is it that makes up the trap influence though? Because the only difference I've been able to tell between trap music and regular hip hop is the drum beat.

Your jams literally make me so excited to pick my guitar up and try something new. Learning your intro to G.O.A.T. took a lot of time and practice to get right but the things it taught me about ways you can use harmonics and different octave "chords" that it was more than worth the time I invested. Keep rocking you crazy guys
the brightness of chon and the trap undertones of Polyphia were masterfully integrated here. I am VERY impressed that one didn't overpower the other
“9/10, pretty groovy, but not enough Ibanez Prestige’s.”
Not enough apostrophee'''s either.
I don’t think you guys understand how important this collab is for guitar instrumental music as a whole
They collab 'd before but I get what you mean
Absolutely right. Especially with all the generic chumps like Tosin Abasi and the likes spewing out horse shite. Polyphia and Chon are showing them how its done.
Owane + Aaron Marshall 💖
Nicholas Shaw I haven't heard any Owane really so I can't judge them. But aaron marshall is shit lol.
John vincent I would hardly call Tosin Abasi generic. He might not be your style but he’s doing things on guitar no one else has done before and still people are struggling to do. That’s like...the opposite of generic. But I get it, you don’t like it and that’s perfectly fine.

Would learn this but tabs only come in Egyptian so idk
Hell yeah
Andrei Cucu I haven’t actually looked them up haha
@Andrei yeah but people who rely on tabs can't typically read normal sheet music. Tabs are good at showing simple chords, less so single notes and absolutely no rhythm, unlike sheet music. This song is heavy on the last two.
@@mrbananaman8032 Guitar pro tabs, on the other hand, show both.
@@mrbananaman8032 that's why you have the sheet music above for rhythm.

I see a lot of comments about the guitar but God.... The drums are otherworldly and just try to focus on the bass, it's the definition of rythmic virtuosity.

When they add harmonic and melodic complexity to their admirable rhytmic richness it will go supernova. Awesome band, vast dedication to the craft.
Back in the day when the Blood Sugar Sex Magic album from Red Hot Chili Peppers came out, and the drum tracks just jumped out of your speakers and smacked you, everyone was wondering - how did they get that amazing drum kit sound?! (They recorded the drum tracks inside of a glass solarium/greenhouse, if memory serves.) That was my first question hearing this track. Tight and punchy, so thick and tasty, but clean and brightly defined throughout, and it never steps on the other instruments anywhere. Excellent recording and mixing!
