My dad and I looked at buying a 6030 with a 6 bottom plow, 8 row planter and cultivator, 21 foot disk, and 5 shank subsoiler for $12,000 back in 1988 but when the seller said it burned 8 gallons of fuel per hour, he didn't purchase it. Wow!what a video it's a keeper 1972 was a great year for me graduating love that 6030 at the start and of course the 9600 cause we had 8600 great video
It was definitely a big year for tractor introductions that have all become modern day classics. I plan to do a 1973 video next year and they were a bunch of big releases then as well. But the 6030 is by far one of the most legendary tractors from the 1970s.
That’s very cool the 1972 4020 is an end of an era machine in the last year production of their highly collectible. Next year I will do new for 1973 which will include the release of the 4430.
I have a 1470 Case and a 4620 JD. When I was little we had a lot of Case equipment. Even Case combines. I don't miss our 2 2670 though. We had a lot of problems with them.
The first tractor I ever got to ride in was a 2470 and the very first farm machine I ever rode in was a Case 1060 combine. I would like to be able to film both a 1200 and a 1470.
What's your email address and I can see if I can send you pictures of my 1470. I'll look for a running 1200 in my area. That might be a little hard. The engines in those tractors didn't have a good reputation. BTW. The first combine I rode in was a 1660.
We had a 2470 for several years and it was the last Case tractor we bought. It was comfortable to drive all day and had decent power but had many engine problems, some of which Case paid for because of flaws in the liner to block interface that would allow coolant into the oil. We got rid of it and heard soon after the 3 speed power shift went out. That was something to be careful with when it was cold because it was VERY harsh shifting until warmed up and if you pushed the clutch without shifting to low first it would slam you into the steering wheel. It was easy starting in the cold, we cleared a lot of snow with it during the bad winters of the late 70's. It would run the same speed in reverse as forward (13 mph max) which was great for using a 3 pt mounted blade.
Great value for your dollar when the tractor lasts over 50 years With all today’s technology I wonder how many of the new tractors will last that long?
The first tractor ever got to ride in was a 2470 and it is still one of my favorites. Steiger release dates for the 70s were 1969, 1970, 1974, 1976, 1977 and 1979.
Oliver 2255 is definitely my favorite. However with the exception of the 7520, I probably worked on all of those models at one time or another when I worked for the old AGCO dealer. Lots of those classic horses still out there earning their keep! Great video!!!
My favorite tractors is the Ford 5000, 7000, 8700 and 9700 but to be honest I’m a Ford tractor man anyway I love all the tractors shown on this video I really enjoy watching your videos
The John Deere 4620 is a 4520 with an “inter-cooler”. What does an intercooler do for an engine? We had a Massey 2705 with the 354/5.8 lt Perkins. Later, Perkins added an Inter cooler to it and it was in the later 760 combined and the 3545 and 3660 tractors. I assume it’s good for the block?
4620 was the first tractor with an intercooler. It also used a better injection pump, valve rotators on all valves and air filtration. That same engine was in the 7020 released in 1970. For every 3 degrees inlet temperature you can eliminate, you drop 1 degree on exhaust theoretically. Holding exhaust temp to 1000 degrees or just under on these old machines is optimal. My 4620 held 172 on a dyno for 2 hours on a hot July day and was about 950° on the Pyrometer. Deere did not have a cross flow head which made cooling much easier actoss the board. The Dubuque built tractors did have cross flow heads. These days every diesel engine does. Not bad for 50s technology that overstayed it's practicality. Deere FINALLY let the old Siamese port headed engines go in the larger Row Crop tractors starting in the early 90s.
Wow! What a great video! That Case had a big price compared to the rest of them. It would be interesting to know, when you do a video on the old ones, if any are actually being used for real field work. Thanks!!
Good question. Every tractor in this video is tractor being used on a farm year and and year out to raise crops. The 6030 is the primary tractor on its farm.
The Case's larger price tag might have to do with the fact it's a rigid frame, two steerable axles were probably higher priced than straight axles. Also the fact of all the different steering configurations that are possible.
Thank you for watching. 1971 and 1973 were big product lunch years for International Harvester. The IH 4366 was launched in 1973 so you will see that one as the thumb nail picture in about 365 days for what was new in ‘73 here on the channel.
@@bigtractorpower When I was about 12 we went to visit a cotton farm in northern NSW Australia. Over the course of a week I got to run a Versatile 900, 875 (or maybe 876?) and 855 all on tillage. Also spent time on irrigation... Pity but I left farming over 30 years ago. Now videos like yours bring the memories flooding back, I also worked on a Victorian farm that had a Waltanna and an 8630 JD the Waltanna would out pull the JD by a huge margin. Spent a couple of rainy days getting a Bulldog single cylinder running... 2 stroke and 9 1/2 inch bore if I remember correctly. thanks for all the Videos!
I hope you can expand on this! It's a great! Even if you have to group some years together depending on what all you can get filmed. Definately be keeping an eye out for more of this and sharing!
Actually would be near impossible to know that, seeing how John Deere did not use consecutive numbers in their serial numbers. That way no one could actually know the numbers of tractors Deere built
I want that 200 - but not much chance at the minute as the price for a container from the US to UK has gone from £4000 to £16,000 apparently it's all the fault of that ship getting stuck in the Suez Canal? If this video included the UK it would have needed a County 1164 at 116hp.

My dad and I farm some as a hobby run a 6030 Deere and 1466 black stripe for tillage and plant with a 4020 we love driving them as well as these guys do great video thanks for putting in the time to grab them
You have a very cool line up.
Thank You. Starting the New Year with great content Jason !
I grew up around dairy farms and one of them was a ford 9600 and the traction king are my favorite.
That 2470 was living up to it's name of turtle just crawling along so slowly.
Nice 👍 Sharp 9600 Ford
50 years and now John Deere is launching their autonomous tractor range ... Farming has sure come a long way 😀👍
It definitely has. It’s amazing how farming has advanced.
Oliver and Moline are my pick. Especially the later years. Looking forward to the G1000 Vista toy coming later this year.
😁👍👍

6030 John Deere is my favorite
My favs were the 900 Versatile & the other green machine, the 2255 Oliver with the V8 Cat. Great vid BTP. Thanks for posting. Cheers
Got to love that Old Iron. I'm figuring most of those old tractors actually running would still bring more than half of what they sold for new!!
Thank you for watching. Your right. The 7520 in this video was sold this summer. It is in very nice shape. It sold for $23,000. Not too bad at age 49.

But the 6030 is by far one of the most legendary tractors from the 1970s.
ua-cam.com/video/p_CLcjXytFQ/v-deo.html
My grandpa’s first tractor is a 1972 ford 4000 and it’s still running today
Nice tractor
The 6030 is a stand out.
Happy New year mr
Happy New Year.
We have a steiger cougar that my dad used for years. He loved running it!!
Very nice. The Cougar I came out in 70’ the Cougar II in 74 and the Cougar III in 76. Which Cougar did your dad have?
@@bigtractorpower I believe its the cougar 1
ua-cam.com/video/p_CLcjXytFQ/v-deo.html
we still use our 1972 4020 every day
That’s very cool the 1972 4020 is an end of an era machine in the last year production of their highly collectible. Next year I will do new for 1973 which will include the release of the 4430.
@@bigtractorpower yes, mine has the power shift with factor cab (heat and air etc.,) too
I liked seeing the Case Traction King tractor.
👍👍 First tractor I ever got to ride in as a kid.
My 1470 has a engine issue right now. I put new tires and a pto on it and the engine got a knock in it. I think it's got a bad piston.
Always likes the 6030
This is when tractors were cool.
I agree. 1972 was a big year for new tractors that are now famous classics.
Great value for your dollar when the tractor lasts over 50 years
With all today’s technology I wonder how many of the new tractors will last that long?
thanks for another awesome video!!!!!
Oliver 2255 was great.
Like the 6030 and MM
Both stand outs for sure. Thank you for watching.
Another great video of some awesome old tractors!
Thank you for watching.
Loved the 6030 alot
It is a Cool Tractor the farm it works on also runs two 105 combines
"that first went to work a half century ago," kinda of puts things in perspective. I went to work 50 years ago too. 😯
😁👍👍
My cousin had a 9600 like three one in the video. That thing was massive.
Very cool. The 9600 is a cool tractor.
I missed the Steiger... although they were later in the 70s.
Case 2470, 2670 have always been on my favorite list
The first tractor ever got to ride in was a 2470 and it is still one of my favorites. Steiger release dates for the 70s were 1969, 1970, 1974, 1976, 1977 and 1979.
Power tractors amazing 💪👍😁
Thank you for watching.
Oliver 2255 is definitely my favorite. However with the exception of the 7520, I probably worked on all of those models at one time or another when I worked for the old AGCO dealer. Lots of those classic horses still out there earning their keep! Great video!!!
Yes oh yes the 2255. Could anything honestly top that v8 Cat engine
My favorite tractors is the Ford 5000, 7000, 8700 and 9700 but to be honest I’m a Ford tractor man anyway I love all the tractors shown on this video I really enjoy watching your videos
Ford made some great tractors. 👍👍
Basically it’s a cooling tube to make the air coming from the turbo more dense to create cooler air which leads to more power.
@@bigtractorpower ok so like 15-20 more hp on a 414?
Personally, I liked them all !
Because I grew around most of them lol!
Me too it’s hard to believe that they have gotten to 50 years but they were built well and have lasted and stood out in the history books.
I love that 6030 great video Jason
I bought a JD 4620 with 8 speed Powershift transmission if not the best it should be incleded in a top 5 of all tractors
@@bigtractorpower Wow that's neat!
The Case's larger price tag might have to do with the fact it's a rigid frame, two steerable axles were probably higher priced than straight axles. Also the fact of all the different steering configurations that are possible.

ua-cam.com/video/p_CLcjXytFQ/v-deo.html
I love em all!
👍👍
I like the 200 Allis. Looked like it was pretty stout. The 9600 was doing a good job. They were all nice tractors.
The 200 packs in allot of horse power.
Ford 9000 then the JD 6030 AND 7520 nice video
Great video Jason!...JD 6030!!!
Will your video are a time machine love it keep them coming 👍😎👍❤️
I liked seeing the Ford, 2wd and the Case 4wd.
Good tractors.
Some neat catches
It’s been a lot of fun finding them
Boy that ground looked hard to pull that plow thru. That JD 6030 looked like he had his hands full. Where were all the 50 yr old Farmal?
Thank you for watching. 1971 and 1973 were big product lunch years for International Harvester. The IH 4366 was launched in 1973 so you will see that one as the thumb nail picture in about 365 days for what was new in ‘73 here on the channel.
@@bigtractorpower 4366?
Best channel on UA-cam,, & I love everything shown here ✌️
Thank you very much I appreciate it.

Awesome vid guys!!
Thank you for watching
I love the videos keep up the awesome work I want to be a farmer when I grow up!
Another awesome video Jason. I like the Versatile 900. That shank ripper was giving it a pretty good go. 👍 GO BTP!!!
The 903 with twin pipes is a cool set up.

Great job putting this together!! Hope sherry Schaefer is following this!!
Thank you for watching. It’s always fun highlighting these historical tractors at work.
I hope you can expand on this! It's a great! Even if you have to group some years together depending on what all you can get filmed. Definately be keeping an eye out for more of this and sharing!
Love that 7520! The Ford 9600 Too. That was a clean 2255 and great to see.
All three are stand outs. It was great to get them filmed.
I just found out our 6030 is a 1972. 260th built!!
Very very cool. Happy 50th 😁
Actually would be near impossible to know that, seeing how John Deere did not use consecutive numbers in their serial numbers.
That way no one could actually know the numbers of tractors Deere built
Like the Allis Cham
And the John deere
👍👍
Personally, I'm a newb to tractors, but from what I've seen in Farming Simulator 19, I really like the 70s John Deere 40 series 2WD .
The 70’s was a time of rapid horse power growth for tractors. Allot of modern day classics came out of the 70’s. Thank you for watching.
I want that 200 - but not much chance at the minute as the price for a container from the US to UK has gone from £4000 to £16,000 apparently it's all the fault of that ship getting stuck in the Suez Canal? If this video included the UK it would have needed a County 1164 at 116hp.
I can’t believe these tractors are hitting 50 yrs old doesn’t seem like it. Great video 👍🏾
It is hard to think of them being that old 1972 was a big year for stand out tractors.
Anybody else notice the prices? 50 years later, some of these tractors are being bought and sold for values rivaling their original price!
Thank you for watching. Your right. The 7520 in this video was sold this summer. It is in very nice shape. It sold for $23,000. Not too bad at age 49.
@@bigtractorpower Thanks for putting out these videos! Great to see these machines get the respect they deserve.
