Well done! I have a small antique embroidery that has some kind of stain, maybe a drink spilled and hardened. But I'm afraid to submerge it in water for fear the colored threads could run. Love the alcohol treatment...will give it a try. Thank you!
Please don’t do this. Never put alcohol on silk and never rub a silk fabric. It will make the fabric colour fade. Use white vinegar with water instead. I would try alcohol only if the stain could not be removed in any other way and the piece of clothing is useless anyway and only if the fabric is white.
These are demonstrations for white satin fabrics Only. Most of these gowns were also synthetic and not pure silk. Working with pure silk, you would only do the dab method with the least amount of chemicals.

Sorry for the delay. If the stain is old and you have washed the garment many times it could be difficult! Otherwise, try the combination of tsp hydrogen peroxide, tsp ammonia, tsp of detergent let that sit on the stain for a few min then tap with a damp white cloth.
The only thing you can do is soak the item with a light wash to lift the stain. You can only do this if the fabric allows you to. Not usually dyed silk because it could cause a water stain if the entire item is not soaked

@@AbdurrahmanHaidary87 There isa dry cleaning method you can do in the dryer. The item that gets stains out that the dry cleaners have is a high pressure steamer. this eliminates the stain from the fibers themselves.
Without seeing the project in person it's hard to give you advice. Alcohol in general will not bleach the fabric. All I can say is try this method inside a seam allowance or area that will not harm the garment's look.

Please help me! I loved your video and thought it was so helpful, but I need help for a Juice stain. I got a drop of apple juice on the collar of my silk Loewe shirt. I don't dare to take it to the cleaners as I have not had good experiences of late. Can you tell me how to remove it without washing it and without causing a water ring stain?

Help me please I just got my prom dress from the shop it had (what looks like) a deodorant stain on the back and down the leg. So how would I get Deodorant streaks out of my silk dress???
I'm not there to see this, but the first thing you can do is rub the area of the deodorant stain together with another part of the garment. If it's a fresh deodorant stain, it will usually come out. Otherwise, if you have an excellent dry cleaner, check if they have an air pressure or steam machine. They can generally blow out the stain without water or chemical
What about old yellowed silks? Like those rusty stain looking bits that come with age? I’ve bought a vintage silk kimono and the inside has a ton of it.
This is tricky, I am not an expert but I have experienced this. I have believe it or not washed silks in a gently cycle and was pleased. Most likely this yellowing comes from body perspiration.
I have a black polka dotted silk scarf that I left in water to long and the black ran out into the white areas and now there are splotchy light green areas all over the scarf, any way to fix it?
A few ideas I have - 1) If there is an Indian store close to you, look for their Lifebuoy soap. It magically lightened some colour stains from a dress and I’ve been using it since 2) If that doesn’t work, see if you have a dyer close by who can discharge the fabric. That will bleach the entire fabric and then you can get it reprinted with polka dots. One thing - don’t ever soak silks to wash. Just gently wash them with a mild liquid right away but an ever better tip would be to sun them - as the heat kills all the germs and it comes smelling fresh and nice.
Actual stain results in anything that discolors a material that can only be removed by eliminating the color like bleach BUT I do not recommend using bleach on delicate silks. You can use a bleach alternative maybe. I would TEST this first on an inside seam or other cloth. I hope this helps
I have not tried it, but I did use a new product pre stain removal cloth. None of the stains came out so , I didn't include it on this video. My experience is that most of these products are a good pre wash type item or processes. With that being said you can lock a stain in by using the wrong things or not working on the stain at all. If that makes sense:).
And For Kitchen Oil Stains I would use the Baking Soda to absorbe Kitchen Oils, then shake excess Baking Soda out, then coat stain with the Dawn Dish Soap mixture formula listed above, and Alcohol..
My dress had a blue stain n then I tried a fabric whitener but it bleached to a lighter colour can u pls tell me wht to do to bring the original colour of the dress?
POOJA BUDHAALE Wow thank you for your comment. I’m so sorry it bleached. My formulas are basically for white silk. Without seeing it I can’t really help much. Once color is removed you can not add color back. If possible you could go to a dry cleaner an have them assess the situation. Another suggestion is to place a detail design element like lace or beading or something to hide the flaw possibly? Be creative. Sorry and good luck.
Ahh I used a toothbrush to try to clean part of a silk wedding dress and it tore the fabric :( I didn’t press that hard but it was still too delicate for toothbrush cleaning
I'll third this. Water stains on silk and satin make me want to die. Having a second opinion would be great. I've tried a few spot treatments to varying degrees of success. The most effective I've found is to use distilled water. Always use distilled water because it doesn't have minerals in it that cause the stains in the first place. Then take a microfiber, terrycloth, or silk/satin cloth (ideally white or the same fabric so it doesn't bleed), and dip a corner into the distilled water. Get it damp, not wet, and gently to moderately rub *with* the grain to clean. Buff out the edges. To dry, place the fabric on an (again, ideally white) terrycloth or microfiber cloth. Either use a blow dryer or place another towel on top to absorb the water. Repeat this process a few times, but with each try the odds of you getting more of the water mark off decrease. I usually go about four times and then call it. It's not always perfect and sometimes in low light levels on my shiny satins I can still see a bit of a mark, but it's not something you'd see unless you're a few inches away and looking for the spot. I've heard distilled white vinegar and I imagine isopropyl alcohol also work because they evaporate quickly and don't have minerals but I haven't tried either yet.
Where can i buy 91% alcohol from..? Please help.. i have a new silk outfit on which there are some lipstick marks.. & I want to get rid of it asap.. Thank you
This was very helpful. I had a query and I hope you could answer me. I have a satin face crepe skirt which belongs to my grandma that she wore on her wedding so about 60+ years ago. It was a bit dirty, so we gave it to dry cleaning and when it came back it had dye stain spots from other fabric on waist band and all over the skirt which really upset me. I want to clean out the dye stains and I'm scared to get it done from the market. Is there any way i can remove the dye stains at home? Also it has a real silver thread and sequin embroidery work on the hemline and few flowers spread across the entire skirt but the stains are not near the work. I want to wear it at my brother's wedding that's five days from today, please help.
For removing dye stains you can try to put the garment in a mix of 1 part of milk and 2 parts of water, and a bit of soap for silk. I saved an off white shirt that had a pink dye stain with this process. You might need to change the mixture once depending on how much of dye there was…

As I say in the video these remedies are GeForce White silk. That is why I also use beach alternatives. If you are dealing with color fabric you are limited to dishwasher soap and bleach alternatives. Everything you try should be tested in an inside seam first. I hope this helps
Hi! I am sorry this out of my wheel house, I recommend going to a dry cleaner and there is a special silk air spray that the good ones have. Just ask around, I am sure they will be able to tackle this. Sorry I cant be more help!
@@susaneliascouture Thanks for getting back to me.
Help me please
I just got my prom dress from the shop it had (what looks like) a deodorant stain on the back and down the leg.
You are showing on white fabric. What about color fabric? Does it work?
Some might help but you will have to test and check and see
For the LOVE OF GOD
At what time does ANY HELP START?! My item.is already 40 years old and I'm looking at retirement here!!
How can I removed oil stain from green colour scarf +silver decor with out the colour staining +the decor of scarf coming off scarf thanls
I have a black polka dotted silk scarf that I left in water to long and the black ran out into the white areas and now there are splotchy light green areas all over the scarf, any way to fix it?
Oh boy sorry to hear that. That means the color in the fabric was not dye fast. It wasn’t set. Unfortunately there is nit much you can do:(
A few ideas I have -
1) If there is an Indian store close to you, look for their Lifebuoy soap. It magically lightened some colour stains from a dress and I’ve been using it since
2) If that doesn’t work, see if you have a dyer close by who can discharge the fabric. That will bleach the entire fabric and then you can get it reprinted with polka dots.
One thing - don’t ever soak silks to wash. Just gently wash them with a mild liquid right away but an ever better tip would be to sun them - as the heat kills all the germs and it comes smelling fresh and nice.
Can I use 75% isopropyl alcohol on silk stains due to perfume using?
You should be able to do that but always rest inside a garment first
how to remove yellow stain from white silk. because i put zondrox bleach it turns yellow, please help me. i love that clothes
Actual stain results in anything that discolors a material that can only be removed by eliminating the color like bleach BUT I do not recommend using bleach on delicate silks. You can use a bleach alternative maybe. I would TEST this first on an inside seam or other cloth. I hope this helps
Wonder how these ingredients compare to a Tide pen?
I have not tried it, but I did use a new product pre stain removal cloth. None of the stains came out so , I didn't include it on this video. My experience is that most of these products are a good pre wash type item or processes. With that being said you can lock a stain in by using the wrong things or not working on the stain at all. If that makes sense:).
And For Kitchen Oil Stains I would use the Baking Soda to absorbe Kitchen Oils, then shake excess Baking Soda out, then coat stain with the Dawn Dish Soap mixture formula listed above, and Alcohol..
Yes, that is right
Is there any fabric that’s oil stain free. Thank you.
This is excellent
Thank you
@@susaneliascouture you’re welcome
Thank You For This!
Ahh I used a toothbrush to try to clean part of a silk wedding dress and it tore the fabric :( I didn’t press that hard but it was still too delicate for toothbrush cleaning
You must always try it first in an area that doesn’t matter or show. Sorry to hear this
any tips for water stains on silk?
I would really need an advice for this too.

How do i remove a coloured stain from silk?
You might need to change the mixture once depending on how much of dye there was…
My silk shirt has ball point ink. Please tell me how to remove
Nail polish remover usually works but you can not use this in acetate fabric as it will melt it.
