Nigel, thank you for all your hard work in 2021. I thoroughly enjoyed your glass greenhouse project this summer and fall. I would get up at 5 get my coffee head out to the porch kick back check out what Nigel was up to. It was always interesting and quite an enjoyable way to start my day. I look forward to seeing what you’re up to in 2022. Happy New Year to you and your wife and family. Stay safe.
Happy New Year Nigel and Laura! It has been an honor to become a member of the zoners this year. Thank you for all the knowlegde you have given out. I almost have seen every video this year back from 2014 when you started. You've really helped me through the last year, it's been hard. So thank you from the bottom of my heart! Christopher from Norway
Happy New Year Nigel...🍾 I'm very happy to see that you have started ficus Benghalensis, one of the most popular trees in India 🇮🇳 after ficus religiosa...we can see the huge benghalensis trees everywhere here. Thimmamma Marrimanu is a banyan tree in Andra, Its canopy covers 19,107 m2 and it was recorded as the largest tree specimen in the world... Your fidel leaf fig is so beautiful...i love this big leaf tree as bonsai
Love that baby elastica, so nice! Never would have crossed my mind attempting it, but having seen the result it makes sense :) Also, holding off on the aerial roots on the benghalensis is a tip that only comes with experience. Thanks for sharing your ficus wisdom 🙏
Happy New year, Nigel! You are one of my greatest sources of inspiration for bonsai, your videos helped me a lot through my harsh times, now I wish you a blessed year and stay strong! Greetings from Eastern Europe! 😍💡🎉🎉🎉🇷🇴🇪🇺
Dear Nigel...Have a safe and happy 2022! I have begun to fall in love with all the different ficuses...I blame YOU! lol. Thanks for always sharing your knowledge of and passion for Bonsai!
Tackling a tree out of the norm of bonsai practice is a great way to hone your bonsai skills. I think the tutorial of this video is an excellent video of taking a tree others would not even try to do. This is why Nigel is the Master of Bonsai. He is not afraid to try something new. Super tutorial video by the master!!!
Happy New Year Nigel! Thank you for all of your videos and knowledge, particularly during these tough times. They've helped me and a lot of people find a new hobby to distract from all of the uncertainty and fear. Here's to 2022 being a bigger, and greater year for you, and all of us.
Huuuuge changes there Nigel, that little cutie at the end is fabulous. Happy new year to you, thanks for all your videos in 2021 and looking forward to many more in 2022
This is exactly what I needed to wake up to so that my 2022 could start off on the right foot, thanks Nigel! Happy New Year, hope you had a good holiday season. I can’t wait to see what exciting things Season 9 of the Bonsai Zone has in store for us! Cheers.
Happy New Year, Nigel! Thanks for another great year of videos, and looking forward to all the things we will see and learn in 2022! Can`t wait to see how this tiny ficus experiment develops!
Happy New Year, Nigel! I'm watching this in 2022! Keep on! You have a unique approach to bonsai (all of us artists probably do) and you are becoming a force to be reckoned with. Bonsai is an art, and I've noticed that great artists tend to find that they have to achieve a certain - uhm - ''hubris' to sort of anchor their place in the media. Your videos have and continue to do so. The 'proof is in the pudding' as is said, and your successful results are showing that your methods have merit . As we say in the US vernacular, 'You got it honest'. I wish you all the best for our shared bonsai future.
Many thanks for all your inspiring videos 2021🙏 I became a constant viewer und I really enjoy your positive spirit and the little smile in your face. ☀️ I also like rubber trees and creating a small bonsai out of them will be exciting to see. 🌱
Happy new year Nigel! I have subscribe to your channel very recently and I've been watching it with a great interest since then. I have a Ficus Benjamina I bought as a pre-bonsai in 2005, and OMG you would'nt like those potato roots it got. 😂 Since I don't have the experience and the tools to cut them back like you do, I think I'll use them to look like stones coming out of the soil and surround them with moss! Also it's a mame bonsai with a particular Bunjingi style I tried to form. I like to think it is very special since I've never seen any Ficus Benjamina with this style (maybe for a good reason) but I really like it hahaha! Take care!
Nigel! Happy new year!!! I wanted to ask/mention that I followed your 2 stage potting system for my bald cypress, montezuma cypress, dragon willow, and a pink cassia tree, they are all in their 2nd or 3rd year with the 2 stage pot system you did with your willows those years ago. Would you be willing to retry that method with one of your water loving tropicals? I believe it will work and be beneficial if you do it to a tropical and don’t leave it out to freeze! Plus I don’t really know how to progress past your stopping point when your willows died. Please consider giving the method a try again with a tropical tree that you move indoors anyways so we viewers can see a comparison on the pluses and minuses of using the method. Thanks keep pumping out the good content!!
happy new year Nigel! Thank you for all your beautiful and educational videos! hopefully there will be many more to come and for many more years to come. 🎊🍾
Hi Nigel Aussie Dave, happy new year, a mate found a ficus growing out of his outdoor table, I google the leaf 🍃, and it seems to be a elastica ficus 🤔. So I'm trying to style it. 😉👍👍🤔
It is now 2022 and Ficus seams fun and interesting so maybe try one out. Just wonder what would be a choose, there is som many spices. I live in a pretty dry environment. What would you grab?
I found a method that seemed to work on keeping the rubber trees leafs small. And that is to let the roots grow in fully to where the ficus doesn't really have much more room to grow. And the leaves did get smaller on mine. And the new growth if noticed on mine has been small ever sense. Now I really am thinking about turning mine into a bonsai. Good video can't wait to see how they turn out!
Happy New Year, Nigel. The winter doesn't seem to have stopped you from doing all that bonsai work, repotting, pruning, defoliating! You're motivating me to do the same, but I hesitate because I'm afraid to kill my plants. Isn't it a bit risky to make those nice trees look like plucked chickens at this time of the winter? Will the plant room be really enough? I love that straw broom I see there all the time. Reminds me of the times when my mother used to chase me with one of them when I acted up beyond her patience. 😄
I love your fiddle fig bonsai! I want to bonsai everything and can really appreciate seeing your results, it's very fun! Do you have a video that shows your collection?
Nigel, if You like trees with big leaves so much what do You think of the fast growing Paulownia? I think you’d like it. It’s leaves are HUGE. what do you think Nigel?
I really like the banyan. I’ve never seen one of those for sale. I see many videos of those from our friends in India. I’m looking forward to watching it develop into the future. Thanks, keep growing. Again. Happy New Year and thanks for your tutelage throughout the years.
Absolutely loved this video! I love all the Ficus trees but I seam to kill them. Have any pointers for me? I still have a little fiddle and three Benjamins that have lost all leaves and may be on their way out.
It's hard to believe I have to wait until next year to see another great video like this from Nigel.. 🤣
Time will fly by quickly, i'm sure it will seem like just tomorrow!
Haha good one 😅
Wow! A mini Ficus E. This will be a really cool looking tree and fits the small round pot like a marriage made in heaven. Cool!!!
