What's sad about this is that Peko's last memory is her killing the person she loves. Just as gut wrenching as Teruteru dying not knowing what happened to his mother
Till this day this trial has been my favorite and solidified Fuyuhiko's spot as my favorite character. I have never cried so hard as I did this trial, I'm telling you 😭
And considering all the further development, i genuinely find Fuyuhiko is one of the best characters in the series. Him and Gundham are my absolute bros
1:30:57 - This is a song reference! Bass: how low can you go. Also, this case is essentially the second case of the first game but in reverse. Mondo killed in a heat of the moment because he was so overwhelmed with the feelings of the death of his brother, much like Fuyuhiko did. Both of them are also delinquent characters who are overly loud and vulgar in the first act of the case. Instead of Chihiro being the victim it flips around where the smallest character in the cast is the main suspect instead of the victim. Then we have a glasses wearing girl who pretends to be a serial killer acting on behalf of the blonde haired boy with major influence and has a talent tied to being the head of a large organization. She has feelings for said character and a major sense of servitude toward them despite it not being reciprocated since Fuyuhiko had far more respect for her than that. Even Mahiru is kind of similar to Mondo in the sense that both of them are super headstrong, hold traditional views about how men and women should behave, and were not directly responsible for someone's death but still complicit in it. There was also foreshadowing regarding Fuyuhiko and Peko's relationship throughout the first chapter. During the first trial, the only time Fuyuhiko spoke up was when he was suspected of murder but also when Peko was accused. He's the one who helps push the suspicion off her and is the most sympathetic to her when she expresses guilt that she didn't do anything about the blackout. It stands out as uncharacteristically kind of him when he tells her "it sounds like you don't need to blame yourself" when he's pretty nasty to everyone else. Just like he spent this case defending her and was planning to die for her, he defended her in the first case too. You even get unique dialogue if when you accuse Peko you accuse him instead. He tries to play into it and tries to almost egg you into voting for him. Peko was also always the one to relay information to Fuyuhiko or step in between arguments between him and others. They'd been looking out for each other pretty consistently. The execution is even sadder than you may realize. Monokuma was controlling Peko until her last attack, meaning she wasn't forced into attacking Fuyuhiko there. She did that accidentally but on her own.
OH got it!! Thanks haha. I didn't even think of it like that damn! Thanks for the breakdown that's a really interesting way of looking at it for sure. That final attack ARGH that makes sense why she gave up 😭 URGH this one is so sad 😞
Mahiru is one of my favs of this game and I think she’s underappreciated. I was actually bummed that she died. Derek Stephen Prince you absolute legend of of a voice actor! Fuyuhiko’s VA is definitely one of my favs of this game and he breaks my heart in half at the end of this trial.
I was shocked it was her as I felt she would be around a while. This game really likes throwing us for a loop though! Yessss such great VA work!! Absolutely devastating:(
I see what you did. Entirety of investigation and a whole class trial in one video? Chunky. I'll be enjoying it later. This is the part where one of my favourite characters starts to really shine and develop
Did you know? Peko's Japanese voice actor is Kotono Mitsuishi, who plays Sailor Moon in (I think?) every animated version of Sailor Moon. This was an intentional choice by the Danganronpa creators because of Peko's (supposed) justice-loving, superhero alter ego. 月に代わってお仕置きよ indeed.
The serial killer "Sparkling Justice" is another case where some nuance is inevitably lost in translation. Originally "Kira kira", which is at first glance just the onomatopoeia for sparkling, but can also be read as "Killer killer" in engrish.
Ohh myy goshh! I cannot express how much I SOBBED to this trial in my first ever watch through, the line that had 12yo me balling my eyes out was “Don’t go, Peko! I need you!” 💔
People usually have mixed feelings about the twist in this chapter, I'm glad you liked it. Fuyuhiko and Peko are two of my favorite characters and it's really heart wrenching that they don't get to interact after realizing their feelings. Well, danganronpa is a game about watching characters you like die so... that's what we get D:
I understand that, personally I loved it, especially as it made you think up to this point did I miss anything you know! It was GUT wrenching that we only got that moment with them but the VA did such an amazing job with these two at that tragic feeling they both felt at that moment - devastating:(
Aaaa! The longer wait was so worth it! Thank you so much for not cutting this trial in half 🙏 I feel like this chapter usually starts to show why Danganronpa 2 is so beloved, even if the trial itself isn't super complex, the story they put behind it gets you to feel a lot more than before. Can't wait for the next part, as usual! But do be sure to keep time for personal life stuff, I'm sure most of us are more than willing to wait! 😁
Gundam is my favorite non-mc character in the entirety of Dangan Ronpa, he is so well written and voice acted! I specified non-mc, because my favorite character overall is Hajime. He is a great main character! It will come as no surprise then that DR2 is my favorite game in the series.
HE IS GREAT!! I am gonna be gutted if we lose him :( gonna spend more time with him and his dark devas of destruction soon 😁😁 hajime is interesting too - I wanna know more lol
What I love watching the game back, you see Peko in chapter 1 and 2 being the one constantly bringing Fuyhiko places with group. Also, any predictions who survives Chapter 5 yet?
Absolutely no idea 😂 I think that nagito and chiaki will be around for a while as they seem to be building the connection between them and hajime quite strongly so I see some shit going down late game. Everyone else - fair game I am NGL xD
This was definitely one of my favorite cases of the entire series! I'm curious who your prediction was for the victim though, since you mentioned having an immediate guess and it didn't seem to be Mahiru 😲 Also I'd be so down for Ace Attorney!!
I can't remember is was all so panicked lol I did think it was likely peko early on though for who committed the murder as it was kinda obvious but now we know...that it was deliberately that way! Awesome good to know 😁✌️
Happy American Thanksgiving all! This is a VERY interesting chapter. Youll want to remember the stuff here; there's a lot of context later that makes much of the story told here very cool.
I love Peko and fuyuhiko, its so sad the end of this trial, but more is coming, and i cant wait to see your reactions in next 4 chapters 🤭 the next one will be interesting
my only issue with this chapter is that the motive HEAVILY targeted Mahiru and Fuyuhiko (and Hiyoko/Ibuki/Mikan/Peko somewhat); like I get they had to set it up someway but I always felt bad for how badly they set up my good sis Mahiru
I think that it was deliberate though as monokuma is trying to get them to commit murders and tbf in the first game they also had motives that pushed certain characters to act and not others. I think monokuma knows who is easy manipulated by what info they have on the group and in monokumas eyes...this was an easy murder to get them to commit. Going forward...who knows. I will note though monokuma does seem a bit more bored than in the previous game so I am expecting things to amp up quick haha just my thoughts on it so far :)
This is one of my favorite trial endings from all the games! What are your thoughts on Fuyuhiko after this trial, and where do you think his character will go from here?
Good question! I was really surprised through the trial how emotional and defensive he was getting about peko but that end moment OH MY GOD PEAK VA WORK THERE! I am excited to see where his character goes, I reckon he will hop on team destroy monokuma and start helping as peko essentially sacrificed herself for him and I don't think he would want that to go to waste. I feel sad for them though :( this trial hurt goddamn it
As someone whos played most of the ace attorny games, i would love to see you experience the games. The trials are alot harder than danganronpa imo, and the games overall is shorter too. I'd reccomend you start with the first trilogy (which the entire thing would take around the same time as danganronpa 1). If you like it then you would also like the next games which have alot more polish to them haha
@@georgieegames I loved how the trial really fleshed him out, he became my fav of the game starting there. Watching through now and excited to see when you get to his moment!
i havent started the video yet but its surprising to see its your fav trial(i assume), to me it was maybe the most boring in the series apart from the trial. i cant remember why as its almost been 3 years but ive also never seen other people like it. hopefully watching it again will change my mind
I rather liked it, now to be fair I was also young when I first played it and I kinda hated Mahiru (don't remember why) and I loved fuyuhiko and peko in this chapter.

Interesting!! I liked this one a lot, I don't know which is my FAVE trial but this one was very strong for me honestly! Will have to see by the end hehe I am curious if you liked it on rewatch though!
@@georgieegames oh yeah i realised the trial isnt nearly as bad as i thought lol, i liked it quite a lot except the fake serial killer thing. THE ENDING MADE ME CRY SOO HARD
This trail was good and definitely puts me in the feels but I feel Peko should have framed multiple people, specifically Sonya. The same wetsuits Sonya was wearing was in the closet. She also knew the most about SJ and would probably be more suspicious being the only person who knew about them. She also arrived last so if Peko beat her there she could have let them fight themselves about it. Blaming just Hiyoko was a bad idea considering the only person she likes rn is Mahiru.
Curious, i wonder in the end, which game you'll like more, first or second? Anyway, enjoy the game and keep yourself safe! This is by far is only one of the most devastating class trials in this game alone.
