- From "Live Chronicles," a 1986 album by Hawkwind recorded on the 1985 tour of their "The Chronicle of the Black Sword" concept album, based on the Michael Moorcock character Elric of Melniboné.
Moorcock has been a long-standing associate of the group and guest performed with them on their Hammersmith Odeon shows on 3 and 4 December. The Final Fight is performed by Moorcock.
The Final Fight lyrics:
Ships of Chaos upwards churning
From the nightmare realms below
Dragons downwards, venom burning
Now attack the malformed foe
Lords of Hell, all pity spurning
Cry "Revenge" and lust for death
Their servant Elric's mind is turning
To sweet Law's promises of rest
Monstrous men and manlike monsters
Battle for the end of time
Meanwhile heavy metal songsters
Cut themselves another line...
Speed now! Speed to war and horror
Speed to battle - Speed to die
Hasten, for there's no tomorrow
The future's merely another lie
Dragons sigh and dragons soaring
Marshall for their Final Fight
Chaos creatures in torment roaring
Seek the rule of Earth's old night
Dragon brothers onward fly
Chaos summons all her might
Dragon Lord is coming nigh
Come to fight the Final Fight
Come to fight the Final Fight
Writer(s): Michael Moorcock
Horn of Fate lyrics:
Yet year on year the greedy tide
Swelled from the west unsatisfied
And ever with impatient fret
Gnawed at the human banquet
And many with madness in their eyes
Stared gibbering at the white hot skies
Where foul birds circled overhead
Shadowing the living and the dead
Southward to where the blood red sun
Sickens at noon in vapours dun
He stumbles with the fear-tamed herds
Of savage beasts...
While homeless birds fly overhead
Southward
Southward
Southward
Southward
Yet year on year the greedy tide
Swelled from the west unsatisfied
And ever with impatient fret
Gnawed at the human banquet
And many with madness in their eyes
Stared gibbering at the white hot skies
Where foul birds circled overhead
Shadowing the living and the dead
