- In depth video of the Field Company cast iron skillets. I will not be doing any cooking in this video. This is more of an unboxing and first impressions of the skillets. I will be comparing these to Lodge and also giving full specs.

Luis!! I am very interested is hearing what you find out from Field regarding the interior surface, on my field, I can barely see/feel milling and I LOVE how it takes seasoning, one of the BEST FASTEST to season, I hope they didn’t chnge this!!!!…and..AND…if Lodge IS listening, ide LOVE an option of machined smooth!! Ide even pay double what their basic skillets go for now..
Annnnchors awaaay my dear. Lol. Hey Rick D. Maybe Papaw will catch this 1 as well. Our phones are going COO COO. Remember us in your prayers da next few day. Especially Papaw & wife.
@@cynthiawesley2318 I will definitely keep you all in my prayers!!
Great video. Do you have to complain about not having spouts and poring being difficult, or is it alright?
It’s good, it actually works decently. I’ll be honest, even skillets with pour spouts like Lodge, it tends to get dripping on the side as well. The flared lip helps alleviate pouring liquids, grease and gravy.
Just found your channel (new sub). I own lots of Field and other, but was wondering where you sourced that table? You willing to part with it? ... big smile bro. 😁😊😇 Good review.
Hello and welcome! Thank you for the kind words. I recently moved and gifted the table to a family member. I cannot recall where I purchased the table but I believe it might have been an online purchase about 6 years ago. Sorry I can’t provide much help but I do hope you enjoy the channel.
I have 12 & 8 field and I give them a 👍
I’m jelly of all the cast you get to see let alone touch
Lodge makes blacklock skillets that are lighter and a little smoother than their regular skillets. The 12” lodge blacklock skillet weighs 5.8lbs and costs $80.00 and the 10” weighs 3.86Ib and costs $60.00. I have the 10 and 12 inch blacklock and like them very much.
Yes I do own most of the BlackLock series skillets. They are truly underrated
lodge lies about their blacklodge weight, if you have a scale please measure and see if it's 5.8, it's more like 6.2 just FYI
Field has some really nice stuff! FYI... The #12 Lancaster was supposed to be available before the end of the year, not sure what's going on?
LOVE LANCASTER! If you ever get a chance visit the store! Have gone twice and have met both the owners. Great people.
@@captkirk6145 I wanted to visit, but they only opened a few weeks before I moved from southeast Pa to Naples, FL…
@@FruitfulForest77 Yeah that would be a haul!
What did you pay for it?
Got them for buy one get 50% off. So I saved a few bucks. I want to say $90 less than standard price.
Can you use this on a glass stove top despite the protruding ring on the bottom?
Yes no issue whatsoever
Does anyone know what the numbers/letters on the underside of the helper handle mean? I suppose they are a serial number, but do they have any meaning or are they just randomly selected numbers and letters? What is the purpose of the serial type numbers?
Yes they are the dates they were casted. You can find a guide on the Field Company Website
Is there a ring on the outside edge of the bottom of the pans? I'm wondering this because my rental only has a glasstop stove, and I'm trying to decide if this is worth buying for my situation. Everything else looks perfect.
almost no ring. Just look nice
My favorite of the newer high end cast iron is field. I need the Dutch oven yet, can you do a review on the Dutch oven?
I think I have… if I haven’t I will do so. I own one already.
Very nice😊
I have a glass top stove and want to get a Field 12 but my largest burner is only 9.5 inches. Do you think it would still work well with the ring on the bottom not touching the burner? Thanks for all your videos!!
The Field Co No. 12 is actually 12” on the bottom. I wouldn’t recommend it because you will have uneven heating and possibly experience warping. I’m not sure if you have a No.10 but that skillet might work better for your application. Now with that said you can still use the No. 12 in the oven and outdoors in a camp fire, grill, or even a propane stove cook top. Hope this helps and other questions, let me know.
@@luisj.castironcookingThanks for the quick reply. I don't currently have any with the rings on the bottom so I'm wondering how much it affects them. Have a family of 4 so I'm looking for a slightly larger cooking area similar to the Field 12. Stargazer doesn't utilize the ring on theirs but can't get the 13.5 until spring apparently. Definitely going to pick up a field 8 as my sidekick to whatever large one I end up buying. Any suggestions for my pan to burner situation?
WAIT A MINUTE, I MISSED A LIVE OR SOMETHING??? I'm not getting notices.
No this was an upload not a live
@@luisj.castironcooking Either way my notification didnt signal. Papaw been having da same issue YESTERDAY. Might be our weather. But thank you anyway I still caught it huh!!!😂😂😂 Oh,,,, nice iron ya got there. Stay safe.
