3:43 It wasn't Ben's brain fart that made the scene, it was David's staying in character, deadpan response "Are you serious, I just told you why a moment ago!' or something like that.
That's wild how a lot of these improvised lines became the lines people remember the most. "I don't care!" "I'm Batman!" "Kevin!" All of those lines were featured in the trailers.

I think I'm going to invent a new drinking game: every time they mispronounce someone's name, we all take a drink. I'll call it "Plastered in less than 8 minutes"
@0:13 "In 'The Fugitive' during a tense moment when Harrison Ford's character is being chased for a crime he didn't commit...." That wasn't a tense moment, that was the WHOLE movie!
My favorite was in Big Fat Greek Wedding when Aunt Voula comes up the happy couple, she asks to touch Ian's hair, after Toula cuts her off from touching his hair, Aunt Voula asks what he likes to eat and Toula says that he's a vegetarian, and the famous, "He don't eat No meat" was born. When Aunt Toula asks to touch his hair...apparently, that's because the actress, Andrea Martin, forgot her line and asked to touch his hair to give her time to remember her lines again instead of completely stopping the scene. Brilliant acting and comedy gold
It's great when you have A-listers who understand how to improvise. However, when you're working on a low budget and you're chasing daylight and an actor forgets their lines and it's not so magical, not so fun.
Conversely if an A lister starts making up lines they are possibly jeopardizing years of prep and work and tens if not hundreds of millions of dollars.
I always wondered about that scene in the Holy Grail where John Cleese said his name was Tim. I always thought it was hilarious that they made his name Tim, but now that I hear this, it's even more brilliant.
Also like Daniel Stern there was only eight years away from portraying Marv in Home Alone. Never would have guessed these performances were so close together in time.
@@SacredDaturaa Remember Daniel Stern in Blue Thunder, with Roy Scheider? Remember Dana Carvey, in the Blue Thunder TV show? I just found out that Tim Robbins was in Top Gun. Wasn't Kevin Bacon in Animal House?
Wow, I did not know that "I don't care" was ad-libbed. I think it's the only line from the movie (which I liked) that I remember and think of from time to time.
7:32 What is this bullshit? These aren't real "reaction" shots to an improv. They are all different camera setups. Do you really think films are made by having separate cameras pointed at every single actor on the set?
Lmao "Im batman." and "Kevin!" being adlibbed? (despite there being a camera right in front of her that she shouts this into lmao) AHAHAHAH youre having a laugh mate. Im sorry that people actually believe this bs.
Just like Ben Stiller in Zoolander, you seem to repeat yourself and all your videos as well. I feel like I already watched this many many times. No more
Most of these “improv” videos are lies. Every camera angle is separately shot and it takes several minutes to set up for the take from that angle. No response from a separate camera angle is spontaneous. The actor has probably had a half hour to consider what they’re going to say.
@@ChubbsTheCat Certainly, scripts change, but many of these clips describe the shot as something the actor improvised, or did by accident and everyone just rolled with it. In the context of the various camera angles they show, and the time that it would have taken to shoot the clip, that ranges from highly unlikely to impossible. When you cut from what one actor's action to another actor's reaction, that reaction isn't spontaneous. It's a carefully staged reaction to what has been shot. I think some people think they use multiple cameras all filming at once. That's not how movies are filmed.
@@john2510 You didn't need to cut and paste your previous response, I'm simply stating that this video isn't using "improvised" as in that exact second, but instead something they've come with off script. If you watch any comedy movies' DVD/Blu-Ray, nearly all of them have "line-o-rama" as part of the extras/options where they shoot the same exact scene a dozen times and have a line or two that are up to the actor, which therefore, IS "improvised" aka up to that specific actor (think 40 year old virgin or Wanderlust, Paul Rudd is in many of the movies I'm thinking of). Many of these, I agree, are more like delays while the actor remembers their line, but even still, you can see smiles and reactions that don't mesh with how it was supposed to go.
I admit... I got some amusement from the person who's sharing all these facts pronounce Gutenberg "gutt-enberg" instead of "Goot-enberg". Robert Wuhl said he made sure to mess up his kiss with Kim Basinger in Batman.

What?! No. The story is David Duchovny. He was the one that responded so well too the other actors mistake.
The "I'm Batman" was not because he forgot the line. Neither he nor Burton liked the original so Keaton was told to make something up.
Like half of this have editing and cuts. No way this is genuine reaction of other actors if it's cut to other shot, come on.
I read Tom Felton's auto biography. 90% of the time, Tom couldn't remember his lines and improvised.
I'm doubtful a studio would let a kid/teenage actor improvise "90%" of his lines. Especially a blockbuster. Could be a lot but not 9/10 lines.
