    Lithium has been widely prescribed and researched as a mood stabilizing drug, yet it continues to be one of the most slandered and misunderstood therapies in medicine. Cast under the darkness and mystery of psychopharmacology, what many have ignored is that lithium is not solely a synthetic chemical or pharmaceutical concoction; it is a mineral that is essential to human health. Present in trace amounts in the foods we eat and the water we drink, lithium is a critical nutrient for many aspects of human physiology. This presentation will explore the exciting and promising new research implication of how low-dose nutritional lithium may improve human health, prevent cognitive decline, dementia, and suicide, and aid in the treatment of ADHD.

      Still working for you? I am now taking 15 mg a day for about a week. I do feel better - I think. I am self diagnosed bipolar as a 48 year old male. Doc had me on Adderall and then Effexor for a year both and neither helped me in the way I needed it too. Mania for me is real. I see it now after much introspection!

    Im on lithium carbonate because that is the only thing my doctor "does". However, Ive changed my mind on the matter from negative to positive because all in all this makes all the difference to me now. From really troubled and crazy times I found a good balance and my life is almost normal. Im just OK

    Dr. Greenblatt, I am extremely grateful of your efforts in putting forth this information on the benefits of Lithium Orotate. My son has been suicidal for a year, and was refusing pharmaceutical grade medications because of all of their side effects. He couldn't stand the nausea, abdominal pain, and other side effects. After researching, we discovered Lithium Orotate could be used as a possible alternative. I had been wondering whether or not the Lithium Orotate could be used at low doses of 10mg's daily, and still be beneficial to people with Bipolar Disorder/ Depression. Your video is very informative, providing not just the benefits but the research data supporting its benefits as well. Thank you!

      Discovered lithium oratate several months ago. Take 20 mg/day, along with 30 mg zinc etc. Suffer from borderline personality disorder and intermittent explosive disorder. Haven't had an episode in several weeks. Still can't get over how a simple mineral can have such a noticeable effect.

    12:45 600mg 1800mg of what? your video throws these figures without specifying which form of the lithium... also here 47:45 30mg of what? Lithium carbonate or orotate or is it 30mg elemental lithium of any form??? I'd appreciate if you can clarify this. Thanks

    Lithium is well studied in its effect to inhibit an enzyme that makes inositol- the brains major neuro transmitter- which results in lower levels of inositol. Whether it is carbonate or orotate lithium atom is poisonous. Take 4 grams in two divided doses a day of inositol (it is myo inositol in supplements which is the most abundant form of it in the body) to get good effects for PCOS, depression, OCD, mania, bi polar, schizophrenia, fatigue, and more. Try it. The only side effect will be loose stools at high dose. Up to 18 grams a day is safe though. We make 4 grams a day in the kidneys.

    So can Lithium Orotate be a replacement for Lithium carbonate for bipolar depression and acute mania?
    Big difference between 1200-1800mg (with lithium carbonate) vs 5mg with Li Orotate.

    • @adriennes7739
      @adriennes7739 7 років тому +4

      nystagmus it's not a good idea to replace tour prescription with a less thoroughly regulated and researched supplement.

    • @newbootgoofin__
      @newbootgoofin__ 7 років тому +8

      nystagmus you could not be more incorrect. Before you spout ignorant replies, please do your research. Lithium Orotate is an EXCELLENT healthy and more efficient, low toxic alternative to lithium carbonate prescribed by docs.

      Brandon Baney my original post is a question, not a judgment type of comment.
      I was remarking at the dosage difference between orotate vs carbonate. 5mg with a greater bioavailability can possibly equal over >1000 mg of carbonate version but I wasn't sure because I am not familiar.

      Biiiiiig differnce. The main difference being the bio-availability, you can take low doses that dont cause the same side effects with the orotate.
