Hong Kong: The growth accelerator for AI scale-ups

Hong Kong is a fast-growing hub of tech innovation, and this intersects with being an access point to China, and the wider Asia-Pacific region. The Hong Kong government has prioritised the development of the AI and robotics sector, establishing research centres, funding programmes and science parks, to foster innovation. The city has an increasingly vibrant start-up ecosystem, with a wide spectrum of incubators, accelerators, VCs and corporate investors dedicated to supporting AI companies to scale.
This workshop explored emerging opportunities for AI scale-ups in the Hong Kong area, with a local policy and regulation lens, a funding mechanism and AI adoption lens, and from a support for foreign investment standpoint.
These insights were delivered by InvestHK, the main government department responsible for helping overseas companies set-up and expand in Hong Kong, and Guildhawk, a Queen's Award-winning, AI-powered translation company.
