I saw Luke Kelly at Fairfield Halls in Croydon not long before he died. I still grieve and mourn that marvellous voice. RiP Luke.

I’m an Aussie with Irish heritage, this band and his voice play with such heart and feeling, I sometimes close my eyes and find myself envisioning returning to my beautiful Ireland to see out my days, I love their version of waltzing Matilda and the wild colonial boy. Forever in my heart

The dates for Luke's last performance are mixed up. Some say this was 3 months before he died but it was actually only a few weeks before his death. This was on RTE's The Music Show in December 1983 and sadly only a month later on January 30th 1984 Luke passed away 🙏

Where did you hide this stuff??!
And can you do a good word at RTE for the FULL concert of the Gaiety theatre in Dublin in may of 1979. I red that the whole first half of that concert is lost.... 😞 and even that 'second part' (of 50 minutes) is not fully available.

Yep. Sean at this point was officially part of the group as Luke was in a bad way near the end of 1983. Sean had before played with the group. He toured Scotland and England with them in 1980 when Ronnies' dad passed away. Then in 1982 when Lukes' illness was getting worse he again went on tour in Germany with them. Luke however despite his illness would still make appearances, most notably in Carre, which was I believe his final live performance with the group.
