You actually scared be, I just got an A4000 I though it had an inherent problem, and it is for running those for long time at 100% capacity, my plan was to run 2 in parallel for NLP, thing is very much like mining it will stay at 100% for hours, and you are open air, so it's not even ambient heat, that means in the summer it's going to be tough to run?
Hey buddy, nice work in guiding the tech part! I too think the price is too high and tried to negotiate for lower with the Taobao seller. I told them that there will be an influencer in America doing a review for this, but they are not generous. That doesn’t even including international shipping. If more people need this, I will try to speak with their boss, and in bulk the shipping on average would make more sense. Again, a big thank you for mentioning my channel again dude! You are the best.
Fan is due to it being limited by the original fan limits. It is limited in Voltage*Amperage meaning wattage and the new one obviously needs more power. I think it would be better to use something like a commander pro and controll the fans from somewhere else.
@@DjMines it's a fancontroller from Corsair. Pretty much just something that would make sense if someone had an entire Rig with these coolers. They are also supported in Linux and hence it is possible to implement them in HiveOS and I think mmpos even had it integrated already
Congrats on the 5K! pretty sweet you got those temps down. Nice thing about that setup is it would be super easy to try some different fans with higher CFM, check ID cooling, they have some fans that shoot out 71CFM, I have used them in my open air cases and they work great :)
End product is NOICE! 👍🏼 IF i had an A4000, the kit and an octominer, i would not care for the fan on top of the cooler, i would maybe even remove it and leave the octo do it’s thing. 🤘🏼
Hey DJ, 100% you would see better temps and performance by swapping out the fan for a Phanteks T30. Also, Kingpin X thermal paste would be better with less paste used than what was suggested to put on in the guide from the kit.
I noticed with mine that the stock thermal grease was pretty thin and largely just baked on there. Replacing that with some Arctic Silver 5 dropped temps so the GPU stays closer to high 60's/low 70's.. VRAM still hits ~80 though which isn't great. I also tested an AIO GPU kit from "Frost Flow" (I had purchased it previously for another GPU that it ended up not working well with). It worked and GPU temps were in the 50's.. but VRAM was upwards of 90+ because there was no way to properly cool the memory.
Yeh, that's a LOT of paste! I'd suggest making an X on the chip, test-installing to make sure it's enough, then cleaning and reapplying, with adjustment if needed.
I'd check where the % figure comes from. It could be the raw PWM value, but it could also be RPM based, in which case it's basing it on the top speed of the small fan, which is easily 2x higher than the big fan.
Do you think this would still overheat if using just for something like plex transcoding occasionally with a few users? I am still within my return window but haven't been able to install / test my A4000 out yet
Great how to! In-depth and helpful. I don’t have a a-4000 but maybe later on and now there’s a video .. thanks dj mines Oh and congrats on blowing up on channel I’ve been watching u since u had like 600 subs lol
FYI - card in full x16 slot takes more power than with x1 riser (maybe if you force pci-e speed in bios to x1 this will work the same as riser but I didnt test it 2x 1660ti DIRECTLY in pci-e slots with SLI board takes about 175-178W from wall, after I put them into risers i got 165-168W
Oh Hell Yes! That little magnetic screw-keeper board is awesome! I was going to suggest using a small magnet to act as a holder when taking apart GPUs. I have a dedicated piece of material that is 8"x22" or so with a soft side and a non-slip side. I have a small magnet that is taped off to one side that acts as a screw holder. Awesome Video!
Ah man, right now I would love to have 1000 subs.. lol! The video is great! It is awesome that there are solutions available for these GPUs, although I am more interested in the A2000. Have fun and be safe!
the thermal mass of the std heatsink is just so small, and the thin profile blower fan just doesnt move as much air. Realistically you want a bulk discount (without the paste and screwdrivers) to drive down the per unit cost if you have a few of them
I wish I had found this video sooner. Hey DJ, do you still have a connect that can get this exact kit for the A4000? This is exactly the solution I'm looking for for my needs as well.
@@DjMines I'm in need of this GPU mod for a custom PC build I'm working on and since I already have an A4000 this exact modification would fit perfectly for the build. I don't mind spending the money to get this so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help a fellow PC enthusiast out.
I don't know, I get a 67/98 without any mods. When it gets 67/102-104 I just turn on external desk fan. Looks like it's an additional overhead that doesn't much that much gain. If I just add thermal pads to the memory it will cool it better.
@Dj Mines My guess on the fan % is the original fan max rpm is X. The new fan is only able to spin at Y. So it's probably 52% of the original fan rpm speed. A better fan with more rpm closer to the original may increase the % reported. It could also be that the fan is getting a lower voltage and a lower RPM. Either way better cooling for you so far.
Now 1 thing I don't care about is the color of the components, after 30 years building rigs, I am happy when they work well, nobody sees them anyway, you don't spend your time watching and a stupid time making it look good when it will get dirty in 2 weeks, especially white.
Dude, you don't need that much thermal paste. You also could have just used your own paste. I have had a lot of good results with Gelid Solutions GC Extreme. I have used it on laptops, my gaming PC, and my mining cards and I typically see between 7-10 c temperature reductions.
The interesting part about the A4000's is that it is a 1-slot card. If you turn it into a 3 slot one, I'm sorry to say this BUT... doesn't make any sense. At all.
@@DjMines Okay, thanks for the reply; it helped me out a lot; you know there is a twin frozr and larger heat sink version out now for between $50 to $60 bucks, ( difference in price is if you want wait for it from China or not ); since your kit already came with a back plate, ( twin fan doesn't ); would be interesting to bench test it, ( and add a thernal pad over the back side of the gpu chip die, like all the 3070's have on the back side of the chip pcb board and back plate also. I added that and thermal pads on the back side of my RX 57 67 XT's and it made a difference, ( varys ), on the more intense algorithms; just an suggestion man.
Core 1100 mem 3200 pl 130 fans gotta be 100 bro. Will bring your temps down a bit. You can pl down to even 126 but you'll lose a bit of hash but they'll run a touch cooler 😎

Would have more success with a cover plate on the new heatsink and sucking air through the fins lengthwise, in to a single sided exit blower fan, rather then the open center version nVidia supplies.
Dude, the thermal paste is way too much. The correct amount of thermal paste is very required to get the best temp, I can confirm that, already tested.
@@DjMines ahhh okay but also all that work for not a massive change in temps, would be interesting to see if you just changed the thermal paste and pads on the stock cooler vs the full change
