4AM, reading Young's "Classic Delux," hearing the song for the first time, I'm saddened that I fell out of Neil after the Harvest album brought me to Ca. in '72; he, and Scott McKensie that is.
Get "Special Delux," it's a wonderful read. For those of a certain age anyway.

This shows someone who has truly mastered the guitar. His mind goes on

Played with a ton of emotion but also with a lot of sloppiness which ultimately adds to its overall appeal. As a old guitarist any time you played in A or E it made for some fun solos, lots of open strings and pretty much anything goes kind of tune.

When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about.

Those are very insightful comments, Angela, and in this case you're obviously talking about an emotional storm. A storm of such intensity that once you're able to find your way out of it you're changed forever. He asks us to consider the question as to whether we are the dream or the dreamer. Can we be one or the other or can we be both? And then lets us gently down at the end of this amazing composition. The musicality blows my mind. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

It's weird, I'm 44 and I've never heard this song before. It's growing on me very fast. I love how it just jumps right into the action in the first five seconds! None of these long brooding pretentious intros, just straight into the noodling and it doesn't stop pretty much for the entire 8 minutes. Plus it sounds like video game music which doesn't hurt at all in my eyes.

i never had a problem with russia; i organised a soccer match with their embassy at kensington in 1978 & went on holiday to leningrad & moscow in january 1981, & had a great time there.
do you know that if it hadn't been for russia, britain would have lost ww2? another fact is the last time we were at war with russia was in 1857.
salisbury was just an anti russian ruse by mi6 to try & make mrs may look strong & the russians look bad; anyone with a brain could see that.
ps, i know you're dying to know what happened in the match - my team won 3-1.
we may not agree about russia, but we do about neil young, who i believe has shacked up with darryl hannah; she's got an eye for men, so i don't think she will kill neil.

    • @jamesrichards3183
      @jamesrichards3183 5 років тому

putin is russia's problem not mine; hong kong is china's problem; people who say they want democracy are often criminals, like triads in hong kong, who infiltrate protest movements; they don't want their lucrative drug & prostitution trades to be outlawed by the chinese government.
i have no truck with the soviet union; twice they have bailed britain out of trouble, ie, ww2 & isis; we owe them big time - ok, so it's hard to forgive them for what happened in the crimea war in 1857!!!!!
i agree with you that the uk is divided, but it is the people on both the leave & immigration sides who are to blame for not asking enough questions from the start; remainers in the south were too cocky, complacent & happy with their lot, unlike leavers in the north who were definitely not.
only labour's proposal to leave the eu, but remain as close to them as possible, can stop the rot.
as regards america, it's not russia they should be worried about, but the zionists, who want the us to blow away palestine & iran; trump is in netanyahu's trouser pocket, not putin's.
i am not nationalistic or religious - i see the evil of the jews persecution of palestine & in britain of corbyn, perpetrated by history & maniacal religion.
if i was a politician, i would not refuse to talk with any leader of another country, be it israel, north korea, america, russia, syria, iran, france, germany, etc. at any time in history.
      all the best.

Sometime when I'm listen to that song, I can hear people crying their pain or even seagull... It's so moving.

I remember hearing it for the first time in the mid-70s when I was a teenager. Shazam! It hit me like a hurricane, pun intended. I thought it was Niel's softer side coming out. Very cool song after all these years.

Love at first then hard. Then when the guitar starts to take over the story, you know the love was lost. Even when the notes cried, distortion was not enough. I can imagine. Beautiful work. Classic.

This Neil guy must be a witness to the universe how could he transport me just whit his sound? I really was mistyfied and in awe.

Excellent video. I sang this song the other night at karaoke in Clyde, Ohio. Love it. The WELD album played in my Dad's garage all through high school. It gives me flashbacks. We saw Neil play this at Pine Knob, Michigan (maybe 1996). He played it for 15 minutes, and when he was done he drug his old black guitar off-stage - every string broken. Indeed he did. Enjoy hurricane season everyone! JfromOldFort
