As a big Machida fan it’s just nice to hear Jones kind to solidify just how good he is. Jones is the best ever in my opinion and that just may be because of A. Studying Machida years prior to this fight, and B. Gaining a mountain of confidence by beating him in an instant classic. @Tyler Vincent I used them correctly and had it a draw at best for Jones, and thats because he was the champ. His strikes were mainly weak leg kicks and whatever control he exerted, highly debatable, was no sooner than the last 2 rounds. All the heavy clean shots, besides an elbow, were thrown by Gustaffson and if things evened out in the end it was because he was gassed out (or because Jones was on steroids) not because Jones figured him out. Machidas reaction time to jones kicks were crazy enough, jones adjusting and knowing exactly what to do with composure made it crazier. He turned what some people would call a “God”, into a mortal. In a really dominant way. Not just a wild knockout punch. It was holding him up choking. Rear nakeds look like your life is on the line, standing up guillotine looks like the other persons life is on the line.
