- Thought I might try to look at a cheaper alternative to ACF50.
Tested ACF50 against Muc-Off Motorcycle Protectant and WD40 to see if a cheaper alternative can compete with AFC50.

I was just thinking "I wonder if someone has compared these products", and then boom, you've already done it. Thank you! Just what I was after.
Thanks, glad it was helpful. Been using the ACF on the boat engine for years and it still looks like new!
@@SVTaurito that's awesome, nice one! About to use some on my new Honda Rebel today for the winter.
Excellent video
Not a fair test really. Motorcycles move through rain and spray at high speeds and the treatments can get washed off by rain and blasted off by gritty puddles.
Interesting stuff, I’ve started using Muc Off after each wash as it’s easy to apply and smells great! Looks like I should stick with ACF despite the faffage involved applying it. Thanks 👍🏻
I have been using ACF for years. Use it on my boat and it does such a great job of keeping the rust away. It is a pain but it does the job. Will be sorting the bike out this month with its winter protection! I use a detailing brush to apply it, makes it much easier.
@@SVTaurito you should do a vid of preparing the X-ADV for winter 😉🤞🏻
Might just do that, thanks for the idea!
@@SVTaurito I just wanna see more X-ADV content 😎🎉
The staples used in this test are impressive. :) Jokes aside, I'm sold. Great test without wasting our time.
Of course I see this after buying the muc off....
Cool test!
Thanks for watching Reid. I still have the test swatches in the garden and the ACF50 treated card is still rust free! Amazing stuff
What a great video. I don’t think I have ever seen such a clear review result.
Thanks Stevie, really nice to hear you enjoyed the video, was actually a pretty fun one to make as I wanted to see the results. Been using ACF on my boat for years and it always does such a great job. Just finished winterising the engine and spray ACF all over it. I know it will be corrosion free when the sailing season starts again. If it can withstand salt water on a boat then its going to have no issues on the bike!
isn't the muc-off protectant spray use to shine the plastic parts/gas tank of motorcycle?
Thanks for the comment. It does state that it guards against corrosion. But I bet it would also shine up the bike after application as it also states it leaves a sparkling finish on treated parts. I think its more of a general protectant for winter storage inside a garage etc.
I alternate between acf50 and xcp Rust Blocker. XCP is supposedly better by quite a way but attracts dirt which makes the bike look worse when ridden until you wash it.
Acf50 doesn't last as long as XCP Rust Blocker but no doubt will last long enough, a good few months I'd imagine. Acf50 also makes is easier to wash the bike because it'll be noticeable less mucky after wet weather rides compared to XCP Rust Blocker
Although XCP now has XCP Clear Coat which is designed to be less sticky and I believe still outlives Acf50. When I run out I'll give that a go.
I personally noticed that XCP the rust rust blocker version is superior to Acf50 in restoring that shine to the bike and black plastics.
That Muc off bike spray isn't too bad though I did use to use it, before I looked into what products were best, back then I was washing my bike every 2 weeks and never had any corrosion. Never covering it and using it for 80mile a day commutes.
I don't use it anymore though because I want to wash my bike once a month now and wouldn't trust it for that long.
Although I've never tried this particular version of XCP I'd recommend XCP clear coat over all because from what I hear it's the best of all worlds, that being said XCP or Acf50 you can't go wrong. Just remember with XCP Rust Blocker version be prepared for your bike to be protected but look a mess after a couple of weeks riding.
Thanks for the info.on the XCP. Haven't tried that but sounds good for marine engines. No problem with dirt sticking just much more moisture. Been using AFC on it for years and it has worked well but may try XCP to see if it offers better protection
@@SVTaurito good luck getting it in the US
Really interesting and useful experiment
Thank you! Cheers!
Seems the mic off is more like a dressing that a anticorrosiin
Yes I think so too, probably something to apply if your going to store it in a garage over winter rather than something that will stop rust etc.
