I'm a single mom and needed to fix the window in the driver's side and thanks to your video I was able to do so successfully by myself today. THANK YOU!
Hey Bimmer Zeit, Staying thanks another time just because you deserve that. The first was with your door handle replacement. This is just as good and I have used both. You are so clear with how you do what you do. Thanks again.
It is not necessary to disconnect the battery. Remove the three airbag bolts and hang it from the bottom hole with a zip tie. You need the battery connected to move the window regulator to replace the clips and tighten the bolts.
Fantastic presentation, short, sweet, and good graphics. It might be a better idea to direct viewers to pull the appropriate Air Bag fuse as opposed to disconnecting the battery, as some vehicles require relearn for various systems when main battery is disconnected. However, if you haven't watched this video yet and need to pull the door panel, this IS the one to watch?
Ok, first thanks for video, my window wouldn’t go up and by following your video I was able to push window up from inside door, the thing I can’t figure out is how to get the door handle release clipped back in, any pointers, lol. Thanks.
I just tried to put my passenger door back together after a shop had originally taken the panel off (long story). I have this random LED light at the end of a pair of wires that looks like it clips into 'something', but I can't figure out what. Any idea? It looks like it might be an alarm status indicator or something, but there aren't any holes in the top of the door panel for it...
Two major omissions in this video. 1. The small door handle light will break unless you unplug it and 2. The door pull clip will break 99% of the time so you need to have one on hand when replacing the panel.
Do you have the plastic door removal tools? They are really nice, they glide into buttons and trim easily without marring things like a screw driver would. Highly recommended! Also, years of practice ;-)
If your switches are working, it sounds like you have a bad window regulator. Very common failure in E46, E53 and E39. I would recommend getting a genuine regulator like this: amzn.to/29HS8xP . This is one part where cheap aftermarket versions just keep failing.

+Sarah Brocksmith That is awesome! So happy to hear that, and congrats on accomplishing that repair yourself!

You legend! just bought a x5 and the window stuck 😠 showing all the hidden bolts helped make fixing it faster thanks.

Thanks Ron!
Plain and simple, excellent tutorial, thank You!
No filler, no bullshit, exactly what the video says it is. Sub.
Thank you

Thank you this helped me today fixed the electric window🙏🏼👍
Why do these things always happen when its cold, wet , dark and windy? good video well explained thanks N,E, England.
Thanks John! Yep, it does seem that way sometimes doesn't it! The frustrating reality of BMW ownership.

Thanks Bob. To my knowledge, disconnecting the battery is the safest method and is how BMW does this procedure.
Very good video, really helpful, I just fix my window thanks to your video, thanks again.

Tha KS for the video, very helpful
where can I get the bolt to unscrew the bolts?

Thanks Steven. Yep it does help to do those things. Always order extra clips, the brittle plastic will break!
that black square piece on the window buttons how the hell did you do that. you make it look so easy

FYI, no need to disconnect the battery, disconnect the negative black cable on the body itself.
Good luck putting that back on AND STAYING!
Thank you!!!!
