You have to redo that one because you can win this one. Here are some tactical tips: 1) You and the C need to fire on the same target. This allows you to concentrate all firepower and will destroy enemy ships more quickly. The sooner you can diminish their volume of fire the better off you'll be later in the fight. 2) You cannot allow them to surround you. You and the C need to maintain some standoff distance and try to string the Romulans out. The D's sensors are superior and it can fire at ranges the Romulans cannot. You may also be able to evade torpedoes, or at the very least have time to face them with your strongest shield. 3) At the same time, you and the C need to maintain a good distance between the both of you, while still able to fire on the same target, hoping the Romulans will divide their forces, diminishing their volume of fire at the both of you. 4) You cannot get into a game of whack-a-mole with cloaking and decloaking ships. You have to concentrate firepower are much as possible on one target.
Finally, you might consider using a DW refit as your proxy for the Enterprise D because the Klingon War Timeline Battleship Enterprise D was undoubtedly far more tactically capable than the vanilla Galaxy. You can use the DW refit to simulate that ship, but perhaps not use the quantums to adhere to the canon representation in that episode.
I think the 4 warbirds would have ignored the Enterprise C because the Enterprise D would pose a much greater threat. Also, Picard's crew would likely have access to some useful, tactical information about those older warbirds.
maybe not if the data wasn't recorded then they might not have those details in the new altered timeline.
of course if the romulans got access to the enterprise d it would be a major problem for the federation in the future.
If you had to redo that fight, I'd suggest trying to focus fire on the same target the Ambassador does. You'll cause more damage, meaning the warbird will be more motivated in firing on you and both ships focus firing the warbirds will take them down faster.
Another thing you don't seem very prone to do is using the Q and E keys to roll your ship around. Near the end you had forward and starboard shields still in okay shape that could have helped soak a lot more abuse had to kept your prow on one attacker and rolled the ship to have the starboard side facing the other warbird.
I was not expecting the D to fold that quickly.
The Romulan's weapons seem a touch too powerful given the time period.

The Galaxy class is for intensive purposes, a glass cannon. Once the shield is overcome, it's no better off than a its sistership of the same name.

In the episode, it was implied that giving the Enterprise C some torpedoes would likely be enough to change the result. I think canonically the Galaxy class would tear these ships apart.
probably not given that it was damaged from being attacked by klingons so would not be a full capacity. the more intresting thing is what if the klingons followed them into the anomaly as well.

😲Blimey the view of the Ent D at 0:32 is amazing.. the details unreal.. Yes.. I always thought if the Ent D could come back then that would have changed everything but no, so since Ent C left the timeline, that was why war with the Klingons cause like in the show, Said, Ent C helped the Klingons and gained trust so. hard to say.. temporal and time travel.. hate to quote Janeway but just thinking about that gives me a headache ..lol. you still held off the Romulans well Captain.. the Klingons would be proud. Being a wartime, "D" I would think it would be more like the Dominion War "D" extra phasers better shields. Just my thoughts !!!!
Instead of in system warp what you need to do is tell your ship to orbit a distant planet. It'll immediately go to impulse and the other ships will only get a few attacks before you're out of range then they'll just follow you. You can go back and forth between the planet and its largest moon until you have your shields up and repairs made

This battle needs redone. Not just because of what everyone else is saying, but because after history was restored with C's destruction, you mucked up history again! Now that the D is destroyed, Tomalok and Picard won't have their banter with each other, and Tomalok won't ever get to threaten to take the broken hull of the Enterprise back to Romulus for display! Now those Romulan troops will never have anything to be inspired by!

Should do it again with the war refit galaxy but no quantum torpedoes. Remember they were at war with the Klingons for 20 years I believe; So that enterprise was definitely a war ship

That was a really amazing what if Battle
In that time, all the powers are inferior to the Galaxy but advanced enough, I should think, to make use of any availble sensor data from the battle. Any level of accelerated development for any of the powers would have to muck up the timeline.
I've always wondered what would have happened if the Enterprise-D had followed the C back. Surely it would still cause peace between the Klingons and Federation especially if they defeated the Romulans. That sucks you still lost. :(
He was too caught up in the moment and didn't use strategy. He lost from allowing himself to be overwhelmed and not targetting the same ship as the C.
also, you're forgetting the triple warhead torpedoes.
I imagine Yesterday Enterprise D will have better shield and phasers than OG Enterprise D as they are in a state of war with the Klingon Empire and should fare better against 4 Romulan warbirds.

The computer was using Wolfpack tactics aka Submarine tactics in U.S. Navy from the 1940s... cloaking and decloaking the ship is sound advice, from the computer POV... IMO.... try it again but the Galaxy class from Hell and maybe Borg Sovereign class... temporal mechanics is a headache,IMO
What would be interesting is in addition to Enterprise-D(following Enterprise-C back to Narendra III), the three Klingon warbirds follows them to the past as well. The Enterprise-D transfer all of their Star Fleet/Federation intelligence data to Enterprise-C, allowing the ship to escape to Federation space. The Enterprise-D and the three Klingnon warbirds teamup to fight the Romulans on Narendra III. The battle is 4 to 4. The Enterprise-D is the ship that gets destroyed after defeating the Romulans. The remaining Klingnons(now trapped in the past) will see this as a true sacrifice. Enterprise-C gives everything about the future to Star Fleet, who in turn gives it to Section 31. Enterprise-C could be used as a prequel to the Next Generation. Would love to see a retcon on Yesterday's Enterprise whereby Capt. Garret is alive.
If you do not have in system warp, Try launching a probe at the start of combat. You can lock on to it and pursue it away from the battlefield... And some of the enemies will Follow you out of the primary engagement.
This particular Galaxy Class was built for war, not peacetime. I am surprised it wasn't much more powerful.
The galaxy has to have farther range. No reason to get in a bar fight.
The C and the Klingon Outpost would have done quite a bit of damage before the C was blasted back to the future. Then from the Romulan perspective, a largely repaired C, with some small upgrades would have popped back into existence, along with a devastating future ship. I suspect that the damaged Romulans would not stand up against the new fresh ships and new fresh tactics.
One other factor, the future D was kitted out as a warship, not for exploration. The crew was far more battle tested. Don't get me wrong, you did the best that could be done with the software.
Question, was the simulation done with older warbirds or was it against the TNG era ships?

Galaxy class is not that strong because of its intent of Starfleet's exploration doctrine. The Enterprise E however was built for war because of wolf 359 battle against the Borg. The difference between Enterprise C to D would not be as great as Enterprise D to E.

Okay clearly the scaling here is off. As the time gap in technology should had allowed the Galaxy Class to steam roll over those warbirds.

The thing that makes me wonder a little bit is: Klingons are Worriers that are honored to d*e in Battle and they are not sending distress calls... so why suddenly for that episode in TNG?

Heard you mention that the outpost wasn't present. It never was The Klingon outpost was on the planet's surface. Not all outposts are space-borne.
Farpoint is another example of a planet-side outpost (ignoring that it was a downed alien entity)
You could argue that anything planet side should be called a colony but it's one of those sci-fi quirks
They called some planet-based facilities Starbases as well

I think you used the wrong ship. You are using TNG Stock Enterprise D. That is not the correct one to use. The Battleship Enterprise would have been a far sturdier beast and would have prevailed in that fight.
On a side note people think the Galaxy class was the pinnacle of Federation technology when it debuted but this is in error. The technology in the design took 20 years of engineering and then reengineering just to make it work. ten years of theoretical work followed by 10 years of engineering work. 20 years to get one class of ship operational. That has never happened in Starfleet history. So by the time the ship comes online the technology is already fairly dated and would become standard fleetwide within the first couple of years. Meaning the ship wasn't obsolete by the time she came out of the yards, but damn near it if you consider just how much better the Sovereign and Defiant classes which that had a far shorter design to prototype window.
You should do this with enterprise-E.
