Da Nang is a coastal city located in central Vietnam. It's one of the country's major port cities and a popular tourist destination known for its beautiful beaches, rich history, and vibrant culture. Here are some key aspects of Da Nang:
Geography and Location: Da Nang is situated along the coast of the South China Sea and is positioned between Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, and Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon), the largest city in the country. Its strategic location has historically made it an important trading and transportation hub.
Tourism: The city is famous for its stunning beaches, such as My Khe Beach and Non Nuoc Beach, which attract both domestic and international tourists. My Khe Beach, in particular, has been listed among the world's most beautiful beaches. The Marble Mountains, a cluster of limestone hills with caves and pagodas, are also a popular tourist attraction in the area.
Cultural Sites: Da Nang is home to several significant cultural sites. The Linh Ung Pagoda, known for its giant statue of the Lady Buddha, is perched atop a hill and offers panoramic views of the city and the coastline. The city is also known for its Cham Museum, which houses a remarkable collection of Cham sculptures and artifacts that reflect the ancient civilization that once thrived in the region.
Infrastructure: Da Nang is known for its modern infrastructure, including the iconic Dragon Bridge, which spans the Han River and is illuminated at night. The city has undergone substantial development in recent years, with various upscale resorts, hotels, and other facilities catering to the growing number of tourists.
Economic Importance: Due to its location and port facilities, Da Nang has a significant role in Vietnam's economy. It serves as a gateway for trade and commerce, connecting the northern and southern regions of the country. The city also houses various industrial zones and manufacturing facilities.
Cuisine: Da Nang offers a diverse range of Vietnamese cuisine, influenced by its coastal location. Seafood is a highlight, and visitors can enjoy various seafood dishes prepared in local restaurants and street food stalls.
Festivals: The city hosts several festivals throughout the year. One of the most notable is the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival, an annual event that attracts fireworks teams from around the world to compete in dazzling displays of pyrotechnics.
Transportation: Da Nang is well-connected by road, rail, and air. It has an international airport that serves both domestic and international flights. The city's transportation infrastructure makes it convenient for tourists to explore not only Da Nang but also nearby attractions such as the ancient town of Hoi An and the imperial city of Hue.
Overall, Da Nang offers a mix of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and modern amenities, making it a popular destination for travelers seeking a combination of relaxation, exploration, and adventure.

I am glad you like "Mắm Tôm" Gary. Foreigners don't know this, but you can/should add "Mắm Tôm" to "Bún bò Huế" and "Bún Riêu" to enhance flavors, in small amounts; but not to "Pho" cuz it clashes the taste. I will be in Hanoi in 9/23, HCMC in 10/23, and Da Nang in 11/23. And Bangkok and Phuket in between those dates; I will look you up Gary. You have food tours, I think...

I would spend at least 4 days there as if you go to Ba Nha Hills, that takes up the whole day and it's mostly worth it. The cable car ride up through the mountains is really peaceful and the view is nice. There are tons of museums and of course the beaches are wonderful. And if you are there on a Saturday or Sunday night, at 9pm, the Dragon Bridge breathes fire, which is fun to watch and then you can go to the night market afterwards and enjoy some delicious food.
I was there in 2019 for 4 days which was good, but in December, I am going there for 71 days, so I will really get to experience living there. I lived in Saigon for 4 years and it's just too big, too crowded and dirty for my tastes.

But to each their own, I prefer to dip my Banh Xeo in peanut sauce but nuoc mam is also good :)
