Great interview! I watched the Vai's Fire Garden Tour '97 here in Brazil… with Philip, Mike Mangini and more! He played with a bass/keyboard… very good!!!
why did vai stop working with Manglnl? Anyone know? Jeremy seems totally antithetical to Vai's brainiac-isms. (lt's a massive cognitive dissonance to see Jeremey ln Vai's band.) (Like, lmagine Cobain joining K0RN!)
Philip Bynoe is the best! I´ve been a fan since the g3 live with steve vai. First time i saw him live was in 2012 in The tour of Story of Light with Steve Vai in 11-12-2012 in Porto, Portugal and the concert started with Racing the World and i loved it! His playing and his sound is amazing. Waited for 3 years to see him again last week in Porto,Portugal at the Hard Club and i was with my girlfriend just to see him play (and he noticed that :D ), in the end of the show he offered her in hand is bass strings signed. Hope to see him again soon in Portugal!
I saw him at NAMM over 20 years ago and as a stranger said hi and Mr. Bynoe was a super nice guy and stopped and said hi and thank you for the nice praise. Great guy and bass player.
Saw the Passion & Warfare 25 anniversary tour in Kelowna, BC, Canada. Got the VIP package - got Q & A with Vai, meet & photo with him, shook Vai's Hand!!! Got to watch soundcheck, front row for the show.... And fist-bumped Philip and the end of the show bow! Great night! \m/
Great interview guys! I'm very grateful. Excellent way to prepare myself for the Passion & Warfare 25th Anniversary concert in Santiago de Chile in two weeks.... first row!!! :)
I remember seeing Phillip at a Kings X show at Slims.(he wasn't playing that night)He is an awesome bass player! Like Steve you're into yoga. Barney Miller Man!!! That is an awesome riff!
It wasn't planned to have him play anything so we we're prepared to capture his bass for this interview unfortunately but we plan to do some equipment demos with him that will absolutely have proper audio from his bass.
I like his voice...
Such a well spoken and skilled musician. Fantastic interview.
