I have no issues with the torsion beam suspension. Its simplier, lighter and has less parts to replace. Even mazda has gone backwards to use torsion beams in mazda 2 and mazda 3, and u hardly feel the difference. My issues with my coolray after 3 years of ownership: 1. The drivers headrest is so steeply raked. 2. The rear signal lights are so weak for my liking. 3. The swooshing gas sound from the fuel tank. 4. Traction control switches off at 80kph. It should be at least at 120kph. 5. The hi beams has 2 bulbs only each headlamp, Kinda weak at night 6. Thirsty at gridlock traffic -5km/li.
Great to hear! Wasn’t able to hear sounds coming from the fuel tank. Maybe it’s coz I turn on my music a bit too loud. 🤣 And yeah, the 5km/l is a bit thirsty.
I'm currently using Malaysia's version of Coolray. I agree with no 1,2,5 and 6. However, some of the units had bright headlights as there are two headlamp suppliers for Malaysia version.
We are still enjoying our GCR SL after 2.5 years. Luckily, we haven't experienced any problem; fingers crossed. Only thing that's replaced so far is the battery.
Same here! I’m planning to upload an update about my ownership soon. For anyone reading this, the new Coolray is already out, and that means some current Coolray owners are looking to upgrade. So keep an eye out for Geely owners selling their Coolray to make room for the latest model. If you’ve been thinking about getting one, this could be a great opportunity-second-hand Coolrays are about to become even more accessible, making it a worthwhile option for 2nd hand car buyers!
Not yet 😞 but… I was able to try other GAC and Chery cars. They’re good also! Try doing a test drive also of the Chery Tiggo 7 if you haven’t already. 🔥 it’s a good time to shop for cars since marami nang pagpipilian. 🔥
In my opinion Emzoom is better due to its 4 Cylinder engine compared to Geeley 3 Cylinder . Or Antay mo dumating new Geeley Coolray using 4 Cylinder na din -kaso til now wala pa sa Pinas
I’m really happy with it-everything’s well put together. One of the standout features is a subtle but useful mechanism that cools the engine down after you’ve been driving for a few hours. When you turn off the engine, the fans kick in for about a minute or two, helping to dissipate the heat. Since it’s turbocharged and requires a minimum of 95 octane fuel, I’ve noticed it runs a bit hotter compared to naturally aspirated engines that only need 91 octane. This cooling feature really helps manage that extra heat efficiently hopefully prolonging the life of the engine and other components in the engine bay.
Really looking forward to owning one, ipon pa more! Also I was hoping you would talk about aftersales since isa un sa mga naririnig/nababasa ko na feedback na nega. Don't know of totoo or hindi :)
To be honest, I'm seeing a lot of concerns with regards to a faulty alternator. I personally haven't experienced this myself. Hopefully I don't have to. But I'm skeptical on the reasons why these alternators are failing. No one would of course confess if they have pressure washed their engine bay or not.
Short answer: it depends. The availability of parts based from owner feedback spans from 2 weeks to 4 months which isn’t bad at all. It’s just conventional. It doesn’t mean they don’t produce enough parts, it’s a concern with the distributor and its logistics since there are small shops out there that can get you the part you need within days if not weeks. Also, there’s news out there that Geely themselves wants to takeover the business here in the Philippines. Hopefully this means faster logistics of parts and even better after-sales support.
This is just based on my observation, first, the risk appetite of Filipino buyers for buying 2nd-hand chinese cars are high. For those looking to get one for a great deal can definitely leverage this. Second, there's a new coolray incoming. Most coolray owners would want to upgrade. :)
New but soon to be phased out na GCR Se. So second hand car must lower it para maka benta.

Nope. Hindi na po. Yun yung marketing nila dati, pero dahil yun na ang iniisip ng mga tao hindi na nila tinama na sirain na ren yung mga Japan brand kasi most there part made in china. Hi! City driving medyo malakas. Highway drive pwede na. I think okay lang yung fuel consumption niya given na 177hp and 255Nm naman yung torque. Yung Honda Civic FD ko before 6km/l yun sa City. nasa 130hp lang yun if I remember correctly.
After driving it for a year, super duper perfect! :)

To add, the Okavango uses a torsion beam but is insanely comfortable. Nasa tuning din ng suspension minsan eh.

This is called Proton X50 in Malaysia. Highly regarded and reliable. Selling like hotcakes in Malaysia*
Did the new Coolray (X50) made it already to Malaysia? Just curious. Here in the Philippines we’re still patiently waiting. 😅

How is road noise above 50kph? or in the expressway?
Hi! It’s okay naman. But there’s wind noise around 80kph and up I think dahil on how the side mirrors were designed. 😅
Sir, For long drives, how is the engine temperature?
Very good. No problem..

Cherry Tigo 7 is. More. Expensive than gcr. U may compare it to Tigo 5 pro.
Nice review Sir.
Glad you liked it!
How's the fuel consumption Sir? Sana magkaroon ng Geely Coolray - Hybrid version.
