In love with Cookie.....Cookie's voice !:)
The purity of all of their voices - heaven to our ears! The whole family - talent galore! 👏👏👏
The Orangedale Whistle is one of my favourite songs. A ballad about bygone era of train travel, wonderfully song by the family. I have visited the museum site in Orangedale, NS. beautiful place.
Love it , I would love to go back in time and see them , I was only a kid and thought they would be around forever R.I.P John and Raylene The Rankins and Tragically Hip are 🇨🇦 two best bands of all times
That powerful vocal performance starting at 13:40 WOW, what a beautiful song. She has the voice of an Angel....
"Orangedale Whistle" and "Fair and Tender Ladies" are my two favourite Rankin Songs and they play them one after another.
The amount of emotion Carol Jean puts into this song just gives me goosebumps....
it’s cool that they played Waltham seeing that there are so many Maritimers living there and many before them as well..Atlantic Canada and Massachusetts have a long connection..myself having lived in Fitchburg back in the late 70’s .. love the Rankins , you made Maritimers so proud thank you❤ RIP Morris and Rayleen 🙏🏻
Raylene had the voice of an angel too! ❤️
My very favorite band. God bless and keep you!
OMG...Cookie Rankin @13:40 Beautiful!!!
Cookie singing Fair and Tender Ladies is better than the studio version. Thank you for sharing this awesome concert. I saw them live in Nashville in 96. Always a favourite group
Michael MacQuarrie definitely this live version is nicer than the studio recording.
This is great footage. Thank you for sharing this.
Thank you for sharing this after all these years. They remain an important and proud part of our story as Nova Scotians
OMG - those voices, those instruments!!!!
Thanks for finding and posting this. It is greatly appreciated.
Absolutely lost for words BUT I feel a little ashamed. 55 years old, lived here in rural Newfoundland all my life and most of the songs on Part 1 of this awesome video I dont know the songs and have never heard the Rankins sing them. I guess I'm more used the the Rankin's and their more modern music. But whether it be modern or Traditional, You do an absolutely beautiful job with all of them. I feel so proud to say they're from Eastern Canada and here they are playing in Waltham, just 10 miles from my favorite Sports team, the Boston Bruins.. The Rankin Family for years have made Canadian home and away so very proud. We love you guys and love your music so much..I play a little myself, put out a CD 3 yrs ago, big bucket list item.. I just play at fund raisers and senior homes but I love it so much.. God Bless you all!!
Right on, Ernest!
Beautiful tribute! It's fascinating to me how proud they make me feel of them as an adult person with roots in Nova Scotia. When they were at the height of their commercial popularity I was aware of them but didn't appreciate them as much as I do now. All of them are just astounding musicians in their own right, let alone as a family group. And for what it's worth the bass player is the coolest guy on stage and grooves like crazy!
Thank you Rankin family
WOW - great video! I love these guys. Great sound and close ups. Thanks very much for posting.
So beautiful...I hadn't seen this video before. It is especially sweet since some of the singers have passed and at least one of this group is still making her way in music.
Always loved the Rankin family.
Thank you very much for posting this. I thought I saw this about a year ago but it was taken down for awhile after that. I'd always hoped it would come back. Thank you uploader. Got a subscribe out me for it. Merry Christmas!
i love all the rankin family
We need that spirit now
Whiskey In The Jar - First I heard this song performed by Metallica!! Didn't know then, that it was a traditional Irish folk song. Soon found out through recordings from the Pog's, Irish Rover's, etc. I think I like this version the best!! So much energy. Gonna watch it again!!
So many memories.....love you alll!! Thank you! xo
The fiddles 👏👏👏👏
Perfection!
thank you so much, it is so good to have this on record and video !!!!!
Agreed
I can't believe that I've never heard of the Rankin Family until now!
I have listened to them for quite a long time here in Australia , being a Scot well we love our Scottish music and the Rankin's are superb at it .
Well better late than never...several have died and I know of only one who is still singing.
I love this song! God bless you!
If we get back to Cape Breton we will have to look for the Red Shoe. I'd love to see that the Rankins are still making music.
I played everything I knew...lmao...that howie
Amazing
So good, I wish they would come back to England!
Un-beatable. This band/family harmonies unlike ANY OTHER!!!
NOW,... I'm ready to do housework!!!
"Go raibh mile maith agait" Irish Gaelic meaning "Thank you very much👍"
Wish they would have new family members who could come up through the ranks and be a new Rankin Family. They were so talented. We had hoped to see them when we were in Cape Breton in 2009, but I think they were no longer performing. I know Heather is performing alone.
Preach!!
Natalie, I know no better message to anyone afflicted with a narcissist.
Wonderful! Absolutely wonderful!
Who is playing bass? Fantastic pocket!!!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Bruce Jacobs
Shit Tramp miner isn't available in any country at all not on UA-cam or Spotify or Soundcloud. Anyone got a download link to this would be very appreciative.

If a band....came on the scene...in 2023...called JCH... oh my...look out Canada...and the world!
GIVE YOURSELF A TREAT at just start at about 3:30 ... seriously folks! yeah
A song well-known in Scotland (in English) but this version is simply breathtaking. 👍
