Nice tips. I have been using the Pip method for ages, be it the stove top method in a water bath, or rice cooker. It really makes the cleanup a lot easier. Now I have been doing it in the Insta pot as well.👌👌
It's such a great method - I agree!
This was so helpful. I usually just make 1 cup of dry brown rice, and I love the PIP method for that. Had never heard of it before; thanks so much!
I'm so happy to hear that you found the PIP rice instructions helpful!
@@PainttheKitchenRed Thank you; the rice turned out great using your PIP instructions, with little clean up to do! Since I prepared only 1 cup dry rice, I shortened the pressure cook time to 20 minutes, which seemed to work well.
@@margaret2383 awesome. In general, you don't need to change cooking time in the Instant Pot if you change the quantity, but I'm glad it worked out for you.
Thank you; I appreciate knowing this.@@PainttheKitchenRed
my brown rice FINALLY came out perfect, thank you!!!!
So glad to hear it - I don't cook rice any other way :)
Success! I used long grain brown rice with equal part salted chicken broth. set it to 22 mins with 15 minutes natural release and it was perfect!
I was a little worried that the fat or salt in the chicken broth would mess it up but it didn't.
Hope you post a Hainanese chicken and rice recipe sometime because that's essentially what I made ❤️
Sounds yummy! I'll look into it :)
i like it. Not wet like when i did the 1 rice to 2 water ratio and most of all no more cleaning / washing the inner pot of the instant pot.
That’s the best part of PIP - the low maintenance! Thanks for commenting.
Every time I make brown rice, I have to use a ton of water and it takes Ann hour to cook. I’m trying it this way. Thank u!
You are so welcome, hope it works for you.
👏👏👏👏
Do you add salt?
I do not add salt but you can add salt to the water. My measurements are about 1/2 tsp salt to each cup of uncooked rice. You can also add oil or butter.
Hi Neena , I’m beginner of instant pot duo gourmet.
Just watch your UA-cam how to cook brown rice. I don’t understand how to do ( hit button) as you said pressure 22 minutes. Please explain . Thank you very much
Hi Mai, please watch my video on how to use the duo gourmet to see how to use the pressure cook button: ua-cam.com/video/6aALYVPPt68/v-deo.html (at the 7:23 mark). Press pressure cook, press + or - to go to 00:22.
Mai, did you figure out how to do it? Sorry, but I missed your comment somehow.
Yes I did everything is fine
@@PainttheKitchenRed but I still confused about this model don’t have steam buttons. For example I want steam food 10 minutes I guess I touched pressure 10 minutes then touch the pressure levels I want?
@@maiphan1470 I replied to you on the Gourmet video
Hi Nina what type of brown rice did you use?
Gillian, I used regular long grain brown rice (not basmati) in this video.
@@PainttheKitchenRed
Thanks I have basmati it's a recommended starch for diabetics type 2 has more fiber and basmati as you well know is not as starch as other rices
