  • 2 months , $800.00 and 6 recycled bikes later. The trike works as smooth as silk. Thank you ATOMIC ZOMBIE ! look for the slide show of the build so you can get an idea of the forms and jigs you need.

That is a great build! Clean and purposeful, not cobbled together with crap. I appreciate you giving the cost of your build with good components. A lot of people assume you can build a nice trike for next to nothing then they are surprised when the project looks and runs like crap.
    Cheers,

That's a pretty clean build! I would suggest breaking down and spending the money on clipless pedals; if your foot slips off the pedal at high speed you can 'run over' your own leg!

I'm surprised it was still $800. I'm glad that you told us the price because I was going to get a few sets of plans thinking the builds would only cost 2-$400 plus having to buy a welder. Thanks, J

I built mine last summer for under $250 using 4 old bicycles. I use 20 inch front wheels with a 26 inch rear. I've built 3 others since all around the same price. I bought my square tube from a scrap yard. I use the netting from dump truck covers to make the seats. Good air flow and cheap.

Hi Gerard. first off you need a 3 ring on the front . Gearing is what its all about on this bike ! You need a very great range of gears in the front because all your power is lcoming from your legs not your weight unlike a regular bike were your weight is on top of you. It would be great to have a 5 speed on the front and back infact that is a great idea. I will have to look into that. I also went with two pulleys inline and a piece of 3/4waterline worked good but I am looking into fabricating some pulleys. Top speed as is was 45 km ph. But make sure you brace the frame cause I never and it broke. Goo project for spring. Good luck !

Love your bike except for you handle bars. Seems like it wouldn’t be a very comfortably to steer and you might damage your hands if you hit something beautiful, job . I think I spent around 200 on mine

Nice job like the colour. I am in the process of building one too.
Just was wondering what are they like going up hills?
And how fast are they compared to a standard bike?

What a great trike! How do you rate the Warrior seat? Most recumbents have either a mesh seat or a contoured fiberglass one, but Atomic Zombie uses their 3-part design that looks a lot like the ones found out in the gym.

The most important is you ether being a dam good welder or you know someone that is . The having good metal . then the components . Then the engineering . Needs to be light and fast or just light .

How did you get $800 in to it if everything came from Junk useless bikes? I would say you probably spent $30-$50 all in all.

Hello, how did you connected the wheel axle to the power steering arms? I mean, without a fork suspension, I saw some black metal thing but I could not understand. I'm trygin to make my own. Could you tell me how it was done?

Hello, I saw your video of the recumbent bicycle and I bought the atomic zombie plans but I do not know the diameters of the tubes or the kind of tube in them, which is for example if it is made or aluminum and the diameter of the tubes either It is specified, it would be a lot to ask you to tell me the diameter of the fork tubes and those of the rest of the bike so that I can start assembling one, as I said, I only understand the length of the tubes and how they are placed but the diameter and the kind of iron that is not coming or I have not seen it, thanks in advance a greeting.

$800 on what? I saw someone build one for $200 out of 4 bikes and some square tube steel.

$800 - could you break that down a bit parts wise? Thanks for your time.

      Atomic Zombie design: www.atomiczombie.com/
You can get this plan on their website for next to nothing. $800 is if you buy everything new at top dollar (including the tools). You can build this trike (and other Atomic Zombie designs ) for a lot less using salvaged bike parts.
      Good luck.

Buy your own at the Atomic Zombie site, it's the least you can do for the knowledge of the designer of these fine bike plans. Pirates build boats.
