Very nice playing, tone is great. I've used a PRS for P&W for some time and haven't regretted it. Mine is an '08 McCarty II (with the dreaded MVC) however used passively the 245 pickups are wonderful. Warm, buttery overdrive, like Clapton during Cream. You make some great, informative vids, Mr. Chan, very much liked over here. Many thanks.
Hi there, thank you for the kind words! Oh, just hearing the name “McCarty II” ignites GAS in me. I have heard that people gut out the active electronics and replace them with passive pickups. Seems a shame that something is unpopular with the PRS user base!
Justin, thank you for another excellent video. I have a PRS P-24 (from 2012). Last year, I replaced the pickups with Lambertone Cremas. I thought the original pickups were OK, but not quite the sound I was looking for in P&W settings. The new pickups sound excellent and have a bit more clarity. I'm looking forward to using your patches in my Helix. Thanks for your help!
Thank you for staying on the channel and checking out my patches! Oh man, I have GAS for Lambertone Crema’s but they’re really expensive to bring into Singapore! That clarity and punch from PAF-style pickups is something lacking in my collection.
I have a 2012 tremonti, and now a 2011 semi hollow body, Prs, both sound totally different but great guitars for pw they are Se so nothing special but great reliable guitars, with great tones, a great alternate to my American pro strat, all-serve a purpose. Great video. Thanks
Thanks for watching! SE’s are great! The Tremonti is a Les Paul killer, IMO! Those 3 guitars cover such a wide range of tones, that’s a great collection you have.
I’ve had several PRS’s. Everything from a McCarty 594 artist too wood library to a regular McCarty 594 to a custom 24. Honestly I vibe much more with the custom 24 though I love them all. I think the custom 24 is the most versatile and even more versatile is the custom 24-08 but I can never find one used. Can just install 2 switches and make it a 24-08 if I wanted too though.
Your history of having McCarty 594's is making me want one, LOL! Indeed, versatility is key for me. The current ability of my Custom 24 to coil split (although globally) is enough to satisfy my single coil needs if I need it to.
Thanks for the explanation. I have watched some of your videos on UA-cam. You also play Gretsch guitars. Comparing the twos: PRS vs Gretsch, what do you prefer for worship from your experience and your personal like?
Hi there, you're welcome, thanks for watching! If I were to pick one, I think I'd go with the PRS because it's that much more versatile and playable. I had to make adjustments to my technique to play the Gretsch Duo Jet properly, but the PRS feels right at home, as a predominantly Strat and Les Paul player. Also, my church plays music from much earlier eras, before the Gretsch chime was popular.
@@AllAboutWorshipGuitar @@AllAboutWorshipGuitar Thanks. I was thinking of getting a Gretsch, yet after doing a little research, now I am thinking to get PRS custom 24 (Indonesian made though, can't afford US made for now).
Philip McKnight demos that the Indo made ones are quite on par with the American ones. I believe some of the hardware is the same on both Indo and American instruments!
Hi Justin, I play in a full band worship team and been thinking to have an upgrade on my guitar. However, i still considering abt getting a PRS SE Custom 24, Fender Player Telecaster or Gretsch G5622T, can you give me some guide please
Hi John! I’d say try out all three and figure out which guitar feels the most comfortable for you, including how it sits on you, neck feel, balance, etc. I think playability and comfort is a more important factor! Then play each and hear how they interact with the spectrum of tones: clean, crunch, and lead. Go with what you feel is your favourite tone. I think the PRS is going to be the most versatile, but it won’t have the twang and grit as the tele. The Gretsch will have a very satisfying clean to moderate gain sound, but it may be too shrill with thicker overdrive.
Is it wrong that when I watch most of your videos I want to spend money on gear? 😂 Are you recommending the US made Prs ones or Prs in general? Riff inspired - From the inside out?
I’m recommending PRS in general; I’ve played SE’s and S2’s and they’re all great instruments! Of course, the US made ones have a bit more TLC in their construction, and overall just looks so good. Haha, as for the riff: nope! Actually both riffs are from non-P&W sources (I listen to a lot of non-P&W). With the pickups, I think they’re moderate output and not too hot. I especially love the 85/15’s that are on the newer models! I feel like it’s easier to tame a hot pickup than it is to grind a lower output pickup. The hotter pickups also bring out frequencies in an amp; just gotta be careful if the frequencies are harsh!
Hi! It's one of my own songs I'm working on! It's called "Come, Prodigal, Come" and it's part of an upcoming EP. Be sure to subscribe so you know when it's dropping!
@@AllAboutWorshipGuitar Thank you for sharing. I've also bought a 24 SE Custom PRS and it's served me very well as per praise and worship music. 2 years later-have you written the EP yet?

Great vid bro. My Custom 22 served me well for 16 years. So warm and smooth. More mature self would like to try a McCarty these days.
Thank you for the kind words! I'd love to get my hands one too, but that would mean significantly thinning the herd for the funds!

I have a prs custom 24. The best playing guitar I own and absolutely the best sustain!
Sweet! What year is it, and what pickups are on it?
Hillsong track " one desire "is the riff you are using from the Blessed album
Red strat has a Seymour d or prs pickup?
I think so! Droff's riffs are quite integrated into my playing style.
You're probably referring to my beat up MJT? It has Andy Timmons pickups, DiMarzio Cruiser bridges for the neck and middle, and AT-1 for the bridge.

I use the Zach Myers, mod with Seymour Duncan hot rodded, PRS SE Custom 24, mod with Seymour Duncan pearly gates
Nice choice of pickups! And that Zach Myers seems to be a popular choice!
@@AllAboutWorshipGuitar yea, I am definitely happy with the ZM, feel and playability is amazing.
Do PRS guitars with modern pups like in newer CEs with 85/15 sustain just as well and perform well for P&W ?
Hi Dino, I've tried a CE24 with the 85/15 neck pickup, indeed I think it performs well too! ua-cam.com/video/xvOMun8Wr0I/v-deo.html
I would love to get a PRS SE Custom 24-08. But, if I had the money I would get a PRS Core Custom 24-08!
Oh my, that’s a great guitar. The core line has such drool-worthy guitars!
@@AllAboutWorshipGuitar Yes Justin! Just wish I could afford a Core. I guess I would settle for the SE Custom 24-08.
