This was a truly amazing vehicle for its time. Imagine where EV tech would be today if this had stayed in production. They got more range out of this in 1997 that a Nissan Leaf got in 2012 - and that was with heavy, inefficient NiMH batteries. Imagine what they could have done with the battery tech we have now.
@@positv333 It really is. We've come a long way with lithium since then, but I still wonder where we'd be now if the industry hadn't taken a decade-long break from battery development.
Watching these makes me realise that we could have gone electric way before now, if they had the basics then the range issues would hve been ironed out long ago. This is early mid 90s and all these old shows are hyping up battery power. There was me thinking it was a recent thing maybe mid to late 00s onwards with the g whizzes and this decade the teslas and the i3s . God I hate the governments of this world got us all in diesels around the time of the scrappage scheme and we flocked to them. Now its the fuel of the devil.
We love diesel and gasoline. I have Audi 100 C3 1990 , TDI 2.5 120 HP. 1600 km by 120 kmh, 2300 km by 90 kmh. Best engine efektive on world. 1600-2300 km! Ev is sucks. Garbage things. Turbo diesel direct injection , best engine efektive on a world!.

it's a shame big oil killed the production of these batteries

Also, ironically Toyota is now really behind when it comes to EVs.
nimh was in some situation a vastly superior product (done correctly can compete with lifepo4 )
What a difference 20 years can make, it boggles the mind to consider where we might be in another 20...
