Even FURTHER: it requires you to sacrifice many other upgrades to guns and survivability just to have decent secondaries. They should 100% award full xp..

Just unlocked the Zieten and have to say I am loving it so far. I slapped Hide on there with the same build I use for the Bismarck, using Von Hipper and going between Scharnhorst and Von Essen as inspirations. I currently run A Good Days Work, Porcupine, Marksmanship, Master Mechanic, and Fight Fire with Fire. Though Once I have the range upgrade unlocked I plan to experiment with Brawler and Running with Scissors. I find this build offers a good balance of good secondaries, survivability, and I have my main battery reload down to 18 seconds. Even with only 6 guns is still hilarious for having 406s.
I completely agree about the secondary rant and I saw a CM saying it in general discord. Just because you don't aim everytime you get less XP? Ridiculess! Anyway, a heads up that the stern armour of these ships is even worse than the bow, so if you go in reverse or are kitting away, do it while angling. Last thing, you can use Scheer or Geisler to make a build with fully packed. You will get one more consumable of everything, so that may help a little as well. The only ship i got in the crates so far was Zilch, btw. GGs.
That is awesome to know about secondaries. I've gotten really good scores with my secondaries in my Massa. I'm now realizing it was likely all the green defend ribbons that got those scores lol. Thanks Derka.
I am late to this but i played my nagato as a secondary ship. I enjoyed it. Just researched the Amagi. Had a blast. Guess it depends on the ship also. Or whatever feels comfortable with the player
I’m running Megatron with AL Hipper as an inspiration, along with Damage Control Mod. Everyone slings HE trying to get you to burn your limited consumables, so with this build fires last 35% less time (39 seconds total, down from 60) and I’m taking 12.5% less fire damage while they burn. My Megatron is only 12/1, mind you. Testing it out, it seems quite viable.
Same here I often finish games with 1 or 2 dcp still in stock.. With Megatron buffing a little bit your main gun range for those long range he spammers is just icing on the cake.
Honestly these ships are really good with a full shell grouping build and Hyde for pen angles. They are comparable to the French and Americans for accuracy this way. On the flip side. For a secondary build use Megatron with revocation protocol and damage control mod for 35% fire duration reduction alongside other fire related perks and you negate the fire vulnerability of these ships
I’m actually not liking the line very much. My biggest gripe with them is their speed at tier IV-VI. They’re slow so getting within brawling range is most unfeasible without taking major damage. They also seem to really like eating full pens.
@@DerkaGames I had one game were an American destroyer with a stealth build showed up. By the way you forgot to mention that the torpedo protection is excellent. The oh shit moment when secondary gun opened up at 6.5k was priceless.
Got the zieten ths past week or two, love it with hipper(12/4) and ciliax(16/3) not maxed i have 11.3km range and I also run Michel Le Tir to get my secondary dmg up a lot(the 150 mil do just under 2kdmg and the 105 mil do just under 1.4k dmg) had a 196.5dmg game half an hour ago with three secondary kills arsonist (got the ultimate arsonist achievement bte) high caliber, and dreadnought with 4 kills total.
@@DerkaGames I know many people like to throw out the hybrid commanders as not being good at anything but I think ships like battlecruises are what those commanders were specifically made for.

Personally to me I don't think you should go completely into secondaries, but invest evenly into surviveablity,secondaries and main battery I'm running Personally Hyde with Cunningham and hipper insperiations
I too have found it hard to play ? Fun at times even dealt plenty of damage but can’t carry! So many losses! It’s hard to learn so I am going to try harder because that’s fun to see if I can get a different play style to work ?
All I ask is either ability to have more damage cons or just give them a normal one. I'm not even joking when I say sometimes it really is hard sometimes no matter how well you play with so many torps and HE spammers nevermind the God class that is carriers😭
I'm glad you don't get as much as xp in secondaries than shooting your main guns, I think the point of this to secure a survivability for people that go full secondaries build to go rushing and throwing their ships away, mostly a majority of people would love to see them shoot their gun rather then rely on secondaries
I really liked the tier 4, good looking ship btw, not a big fan of Mackensen though, the guns are not good and secondaries doesn't make up for it imo, the hydro is a gift though, can't wair for tier 6, on paper at least it looks like a monster, Zieten is ugly i'm not looking forward for this thing just because of that (though lesser Champagne's gun with Burg secondaries looks nice) Can't agree more on your rant, secondaries should value more as its really hard to get a good game with these, meanwhile i managed to do a 3.7k base xp game with a full secondary Flandre not long ago, because of fire damage i'd say, had 14 fires and a witherer without firing HE the whole game, same game with Burg would be 3k, or even less, was surprised sometimes while having great games and not even being first on the leaderboard...
That's what i kept noticing, scoring extremely low on the team with a decent 100k, cap, dd kill type game. And again not being top of the team with bangers. Playing these ships will lower your avg xp earned in a hurry. Zieten is kind of ugly haha but man is she fun. Once you start getting her playstyle, it's a blast. Brawler and MBM3 I had the main gun reload around 18 seconds I think, if you ever get tired of not getting 💩 for xp
@@DerkaGames don't know what build i'm gonna use, i'mma try a full secondary and might use MBM3 later, xp doesn't really bother me, i don't have a lot xp per battle (depends what one can call a lot) at 2.3k so i don't think i'll loose a lot xp

Scharnhorst might also work, less accuracy, but access to will to rebuild or if you ever feel like it, improved range and speed on those torps.

They may be, I just refuse to run them full accuracy. I already use that on USN, RN, IJN, some French BBs, and Roma. Gets old
I will say, t4 derf has a turtleback. At least the armor belt, not including the citadel roof.

As in most ships, I try and build for balance between performance and survivability.

Use scheer with fully packed he can increase the number of damage control consumables. Plus he's base trait helps with reducing fire.

I'm struggling with these ships so far, although I have yet to reach any of the upgrades. Maybe things will change then. Oh and another great vid btw.
Upgrades are a must id say. I usually get the guns first, it's such a handicap to have such a low main battery range in a BB
4, 5, & 6, 👍👍👍. 7, not so much. Perhaps, it is its odd design. Low damage numbers is a real thing. 7 is just not competitive enough for me.
