They made King Kong the star and didn't focus too much on the humans. Kong somehow conveys great emotion without ever speaking.
Him, Mothra, and Godzilla were all stars in their own right during GxK.
That whole sequence when Kong enters Skar King's domain is so well done. No dialogue, but everything is clear and impactful.
Well for once they made the humans cool and like able and not act like assholes towards each other for the first time they made a Godzilla movie rt!!! thats why this movie made a total of over 500 million by for the biggest one yet.

There is a new Monsterverse film in development, and it will be Godzilla x Kong 3. The film will be a Godzilla centered story, and the plot will be heavily influenced by Godzilla vs. Destoroyah. The film is set to be released sometime in 2027. Adam Wingard is not set to return for the next one, so we don’t know who will direct. Dave Callaham is writing the script now. He wrote Shang-Chi, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and he co-wrote Godzilla (2014)
They need to show these monsters from the point of view of the people while also having a good human story.
These last few godzilla and kong movies have been nothing but cgi fest with no heart. You couldn't even tell these creatures are more than 300 feet tall for most of the movie anyway.
The first godzilla in 2014 and kong skull island presented them a lot better than this movie.
We have no idea if it'll be Godzilla centered or if It will be influenced by Godzilla vs. Destoroyah. Adam Wingard was the one who said those things and he is not directing this one.

@@rohan1748I think you're wrong especially the fact they were able to show a conversation with the apes without a word being uttered. That ground work could be having the Monsters be more of a focus with story still being told with less human aspect. The money this movie pulled shows most people want more focus on the monsters. The scale of the Monsters is shown in every movie, 2014 did a great job of showing it but they focused to much on boring who no one cared for and didn't show Godzilla nearly enough. And also Toho Godzilla Minus One seems what you're looking for.

If you're curious about what are the creatures in this film, The Creatures that appeared in this movie are: Leafwings(the birds flying) , WartDogs(the giant dog pack) ,Kong, Doug( the giant lizard stealing kongs meal), Parrot Frog, Scylla(the giant squid crab), Godzilla, Suko (the baby Kong’s name), vertacines (the flying creatures the ship was flying with), Tiamat(the giant sea dragon serpent), hell hawks(the birds that looked like a mix of hawks and bats), Warbats(the flying serpents), DrownViper(the sea serpent that attacked Kong), Tree Mimic( the creature that ate the mercenary) , Skar King, Shimo, and Mothra.
I just call Drownviper "Leviathan", because it looks exactly like the summoned monster from Final Fantasy.
I lost it when Kong used Suko as a weapon lol

You gotta love the progression from the first Godzilla movie being "overly serious" with the story driven more by the people than the titans, to now them going "Fuck it. Play "I Was Made For Loving You" while giving Kong a mech upgrade." Give the people what they want 😂
See also the older Godzilla serieses. It's just a natural progression of how Godzilla stuff works.
I love the natural progression of the bond between Kong and Suko. Even with that "I'll beat a motherfucker with another motherfucker" moment. And the fact that Jia was prophesized as a hero who can rouse Mothra from her slumber is amazing, same with her meeting other members of her tribe. Also, I not only love the "Aw, shut up" punch on the ape annoyingly running his mouth a few seconds before Kong met Skar King, but the part where Kong lobs a rock and creams the one ape in the head.
Fun fact: Dan Stevens also played The Beast in the remake of Beauty And The Beast.
The kong suko relation definitely feels like other buddy films where the adult and kid struggle to get along at first.

The turning point was definitely Kong sharing a piece of the Drownviper with Suko.
Additional lore on the coliseum bed: Its architecture is reminiscent of Godzilla's old Lair, from before the war with Scar King. Since that lair got destroyed by the nuke, Godzilla's been wandering around, looking for a new lair. Having found the coliseum, he's found something that reminds him of his old home.

Godzilla felt super powerful until Shimo entered the picture. Goji was barely doing ANYTHING to her and just served as a distraction more than anything which was fascinating to me. I really want to see a future enemy push Shimo to her limits because she's STRONG as fuck
FYI the Strait of Gibraltar that Godzilla dove into separates 2 continents and is between 300 and 900 meters (980 and 2,950 feet) deep. So Big G diving in isn't as unbelievable as you might think

Kong for 90 years, Godzilla for 70 years and being part of this
has been so entertaining.
Movie No. 5, GxK is amazingly good.
I saw it IMAX 3D with a packed house, opening weekend.
The science, history, culture of this universe is vast.
Some people go to watch these movies for the battles, but the background of such things are interesting to me and because everything has a reason to exist.
The human characters are important (they are).
Subtle connections from us to these beasts and beyond aren't
just because of the same world, different levels.
These Titans are the showstoppers, established or newly introduced, ally or threat.
Loved the homages to the classic films with Godzilla's newer colors (Godzilla 2000 from 1999)
and Kong's Powerhouse mechanism harnessing energy (King Kong vs. Godzilla from 1962).
As for the battles, they are beyond incredible with the effects and Mo Cap, savage yet articulated.
After all the hype and success of this film, you gotta wonder
what could happen next?
So much more they can pull from the classics to add in for this universe.
Either way, we want more.

The reason why Godzilla was pissed at Kong was, in a sense, Kong broke the treaty. Two kings can’t rule one kingdom. Godzilla was to remain on the surface to rule as alpha. While Kong will rule and remain in Hollow Earth

It's funny about the ancient architecture because Godzilla is older than any man made structure on Earth. So....wouldn't that make him technically more valuable, even historically, than anything in Rome or the pyramids? Plus, he gives no shits anyway. I was told or I knew already but Skar King is a Oraguntan species like Suko who is mostly the son of Skar King but then gets adopted as the "son of Kong at the very end because this movie was supposedly titled Son Of Kong I think.
I love the call backs to the Showa Era Godzilla films in this movie.
1. The Iwi not only being the Skull Island people, but those who worshipped Mothra, like the shobajin in Mothra (1961) and Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964)
2. The call back with Bernie talking about the Gargantua Insurance Company is a call back reference to the 1966 film, "War of the Gargantuas"
3. The Hollow Earth is a stand in for Monster Island from Destroy All Monsters and Son of Godzilla
4. And the call backs to movies like Godzilla vs. Megalon with the war of the surface people and the people of seatopia for easter eggs.
Kong now has a protector girl Shimo just like Godzilla with his protector girl Mothra.
As much as we love Kong, No what he does, He would still loose to Godzilla despite their own strengths and capablities said Adam Wingard.
Until Kong gets his electric powers, I'm going to put that opinion on the backseat.

Some of the Great Apes have individual names: according to TV Tropes, according to the novel, the one with the blind right eye 👁 (and Skar King's main enforcer) is fittingly called "One-Eye" and is apparently one of Skar King's many children alongside Suko and other infants 🤔😓. The one that Kong tries to save from falling off the cliff but ends up having to kick him off the cliff for real in self-defense because he was a sorry little ingrate who still attempted to kill Kong after he had just saved his life 😠😡🙄😒🤨, his name was Stone Fist 👊 ✊️ 🤛 🤜. Another one of the initial attackers along with One-Eye and Stone Fist was called Catcher. Another one of Skar King's goons, the one crushed by Kong's giant swinging stone trap was apparently called Knob. The ape who was Suko's caretaker whom Skar King brutally murdered in front of Suko and Kong, his name was Gnarled Finger, and while "friend" might be going a bit far, the novelization reveals that, prior to meeting Kong, Gnarled Finger was the only Great Ape to treat Suko with any measure of kindness by letting him eat the scraps of his meals and shielding 🛡 him from being attacked by the other apes 🥺😣😔. And the Great Ape slave that Kong helps up and beats up the bully that was abusing him, while not named in the movie, was named "Boots" by the movie's vfx animators 🤔😉.
The reason Gozilla goes back to sleep in the coliseum is because it reminds him of his old home and helps him have a kind of peace for a little while

As someone else put it, the Military (In the US at least) is one of the biggest expenses for the national budget.
Even if the old stuff didn't work, maybe this time it will. And if not, maybe the next time.
And, to be honest, every plane destroyed by Godzilla is inventory space for a newer, high tech plane. So, its kinda a Win-Win situation.

To add to your comment about seeing it in theaters, I saw it on opening night in IMAX with my dad and it was absolutely phenomenal as well as being very immersive plus we bought the tickets a month in advance so we couldn't wait to see it.. You felt like you were next to these creatures whenever they roared and could feel the sounds of them reverberating through your body. Not to mention the roar that Scar king made when announcing himself to everyone after kong punched that lieutenant gave me literal chills. I saw this film 4 times in theaters and it never got old.
It makes me laugh at how much Godzilla hates Kong (despite Kong giving him nothing but kindness & understanding). I love how, at the end, Kong gives Godzilla this smirk of, “Thanks for the help, chum”. While Godzilla just stares at him like, “If it wasn’t for Mothra, I’d have left you for dead with a smile on my face. I had to beat on 3 women today (Scylla, Tiamat, Shimu), and being associated with you has been my lowest moment today”
I love both characters, but it’s funny how only one of them likes the other. Godzilla just actively doesn’t want to be around Kong
