- In this UConn news conference, Paige Bueckers says with all the different lineups the Huskies have had to roll out, "they're just trying to gel together as a unit." The team has received criticism for their 5-3 start but Bueckers' strategy is to turn off all social media because she feels, "people are trying to tear us apart... the best thing we can do is tune it all out and focus on ourselves individually and as a team."

No they don't and that goes with any field of sport art etc. No clue. People that never did the sport at this level have no idea what questions to ask.
I love her so much, I hope she knows how much we appreciate everything she does, including the team. I never had high expectations because it’s too early to judge. this team needs time, and as fans we should be with them through everything, specially downs. I just want them to know that there are people who care about them. Who aren’t asking so much off of them currently. they’re still working, and this itself makes me so proud

I remember the freshman year of Paige at UConn. After 5 games I was not excited about Paige’s performance. Then UConn played Arkansas. After the first 10 minutes UConn was behind by 10 points. Paige started shoting for first time and not looking to pass. UConn lost that game. Paige had 31 points. The girl from Arkansas scored 41 points. I finally saw what Paige could do, and fell in love with her. She became player of the year as a freshman. I would love to see that Paige again this year. 😢
She's trying to learn how to play the 4 spot!! Her natural spot is Point Guard.

Exactly. Div I has many more excellent teams than it had in the past, which really is a good thing.
No team will win 11 championships in - how many years was it for UConn- again.
And, yes, Uconn is still an excellent team and often an exciting team to watch
For the first time in thirty years being ranked 17 may work in their favor if they use that right. Paige said that the media has no idea what goes on during practice "mentally and physically", I would have thought that emotionally would have been part of that.

One issue seldom addressed is the need for player-to-player bonding, knowig how everyone plays, which promotes creative actions.
On the NC rosteers Geno has historically used 6 players more than 190 mpg in the critical games. With six key players delivering the wins there are only 15 player-to-player connections. Each player needs to know how the other five will act and react.
Currently UConn has a roster of eight wuality players, 4 vets and 4 Freshmen, which means there are 28 player-to-player interconnections, nearly twice as many as with six.
The team chemistry Paige speaks of flows from how well she knows the additional two and how they interact with one another.
There are 23 games before the BE tournament. It will be interesting to see how this team develops. The Alpha test will be against SC in February.
They’ll be okay. And I don’t mean they’ll be a force in the tournament but they’ll win the Big East and develop their talent.
And Paige will continue to help her teammates and delight the fans with her talent.

They didn't treat her well, but her spirit also seems to be down.
I agree, something seems off with Paige. I don't know what it is but she doesn't appear to have the same swagger she used to.
Paige was well known in high-school, a top recruit, plenty of opportunities with her " then skills"... but right now...that's all way behind and viewers see she and uconn are very average perhaps. Its dog eat dog world on the hardwood, with perhaps some bad calls by the refs at times. Uconn..is more nervous maybe then perhaps growing...much to do with today s magnifying lens and social media desires

I think it’s a sober mess , maybe- or a humility that really fits the moment. I don’t see it as being demoralized.

Paige needs to take charge more. To many passes when she can clearly shoot from where she is giving up the ball
she was 11 for 14 in 33 minutes. She also has to as she did today get her team-mates involved. it is a team game and if she does not do it now when it comes tourney time they will go down. You're right she needs to be the focal point but jacking it up all the time will not help the freshman in the long run. Pretty sure her and Geno know what they are doing. How much more does she need to take charge did you watch today's game. Just the right amount of Paige and the freshman were involved also.
