@@antun57able veliki sam ljubitelj i poštovalac Džonijevog rada. Potpuno dvije različite muzičke filozofije. Jedan suptilniji (Džoni) drugi suroviji i iskreniji (Bora). Međutim broj hitova je daleko na strani Bore. Dok kod Azre možeš nabrajati recimo 20 hitova za sva vremena kod Bore toga imaš tonu (bezveze se gađam brojevima). Imamo i Smak koji je muzički fantastičan i bolji od obje ove grupe ali tekstualno daleko ispod njih. Sve u svemu moj izbor je R.

Čovek je preveo kako je umeo i to je odradio veoma dobro. Ne razumem zašto terate mak na konac, te zašto si napisao andjeli u množini ili zašto nisi koristio neke sinonime... 🙄
Ok, u engleskom jeziku nema 5og padeza, vokativa, u kom refren ove pesme priziva andjela. Dakle najblizi prevod bi bio "oh angel".
i am croat from vukovar, who was only 9 when the city felt and i spent 2 days after its fall and today as 42 years old i can undersand this song, for a very long time since then thru my teen years and as a young adult i boycoted everything connected to serbia, songs, news, food, anything. in my early 20ties i finaly searched professional help, discovered i suffer from complex ptsd, when i was 11 i was hit by granade and lost my fist and leg, partialy blind on one eye and partialy deaf on both ears, but when i heared this song in my early 30ties and made peace with my past and yugoslavian past wich goes way before the yugoslavia after ww2 i understood it completly, felt it with my whole being coz it is so true. lyrics in this song are very very important, without them the song is nothing... and not understanding the lyrics you cant completly enjoy this song, coz it was made to shake you, to shock you, to make you think criticaly and raise questions and even question your own values and wievs...

It was the first time in the history of Austrian railways that the train was delayed in departure, because when the song ended, they let the train leave," said Djordjevic, who revealed that they suggested that this track be the Serbian anthem.
"It's interesting that one serious song gets so much listened to. There is even a group of people who wanted to suggest that this song be the Serbian anthem. Of course, we have our anthem, but I took that as a compliment," Djordjevic said earlier.
The name of the band is "Riblja chorba". It's a play on words. In Serbian slang, a beautiful girl is said to be a "fish" or a "good fish". In this sense, since fish soup is red, the term "fish soup" represents menstruation.

To fully understand the lyrics you gotta, for one, have lived in Yugoslavia in that era (1980's). You also gotta have an extensive knowledge of Serbian language, cause there are words and verses that can't simply be translated into English words. Some have to be translated even into phrases. I.e. "bagra" means the scum of the worst kind. "skini paučinu s' očiju" would be "take off the blindfolds". "kad dođeš Bogu na istinu" means when you meet your maker. "dušmani" are plural for the person who means, does and wishes you only harm, only the worst things. And so on. In addition, Istina was their album whose release had been postponed several times and almost got banned because of that and one another song (Pacovi iz podruma - Rats from the basement) which has been removed from the original track listing and only got published years later.

Many if not all songs from Riblja Čorba are made music on frontmans lyrics. Bora the frontmen is a brilliant poet. This band is all about lyrics. He has rimes in every other verse sometimes in every verse. And his lyrics are usually wery raw not much of a double meaning and innuendos. Always telling a story. Great music too but lyrics are dominant. In western music is usually music first than lyrics on music.

Btw "Riblja čorba" literally means fishing soup, but fishing soup is not a point of bands name. These days in Yugoslavia a slang for girls was a "fishes", today's a pretty much same, and fishing soup was slang for menstrual period. So, the name of band actually means menstrual period, on slang called "Riblja čorba" :D
