  • A projector is a machine that projects an image onto a screen. LCD projectors work by shining a light through three LCD screens. When the colored light passes through these three screens, they relay three versions of the same scene. Tinted images pass through a dichroic crystal, which leads to the birth of a million colors.
There are many kinds of projectors from the past, but this video will focus on LCD and DLP projectors. LCD projectors use LCD screens to split white light into red, blue, and green beams and create a full-color image using a dichroic crystal. DLP projectors use a digital micromirror device with millions of tiny mirrors individually tilted to reflect or block light from a bright source, combined with a colored wheel to add color. Both technologies use lenses to produce the final image.
