You can't get carbon monoxide leaks if your heater is 4 gtx 480s

Jos Geerink no
Jos Geerink Jos Geerink *Monoxide You can google it, it's totally acceptable to write it like BOBsmithISaPERSON wrote it.
Learn to do a science, it's monoxide. The chemical name for a compound featuring one oxygen.
Hey here's a comment that's actually relevant to the video!
Laser projectors are amazing. They're slowly being rolled out at the university I work for and they require virtually no maintenance, the image is bright and they also effectively remove the potential for timing errors between them and the control equipment that the end user will operate. Not to mention of course the instant on and off is super helpful when you're trying to troubleshoot a professors laptop connection in the middle of their class.
Damnit John! You had one job!
And he executed it perfectly. ;)
Previous company I worked for produced laser projectors, some almost the size of a small car (without about the same cost). The company I NOW work for buys these projectors and uses them for Air Force training domes.
Thanks a lot for making this video! Answering a lot of questions i ve had when i asked you to make a video about this stuff. Cheers and greedings from Germany :)
You forgot to mention that laser projectors are closed systems so the cooling doesn't suck in the same amount of dust and particles, prolonging the lifetime. However, this means that changing it will be much more expensive than the separate conventional bulbs we have today, should you need to do so. They also emit less heat and can be used in any angle. Regular projectors need to be told what direction they're hung and often switch to a portrait bulb in case you want to use them on the side.
The high end units we use in the rental business start somewhere around $20.000,- with a default lens kit. Then you want to add more lenses, brackets, flights and infrastructure. 😎
You've seen all the warning that come with laser pens about looking into the beam. This makes me wonder, do laser projectors have the same dangers. If your laser projector is set up in your living room and your kid catches a faceful of HD glory as he walks between it and the wall, are his eyes going to literally get burnt out of his sockets?
You have a better control on your colors with three seperate monochromatic light sources (unique wave lenght). lasers are also coherent sources (a simple wave, so not multiple phases at the same time), we can create inteference with two beam that come only from the same laser (it can't work with two laser, even if they produce the same wave lenght: waves are not perfect). So for laser projectors, no intefrence are created. A fun fact with interference and laser, we can do holography : recording the 3D perspective of an object by recording with a photographic plate the interference between two beam (one reflect on the object and the other come directly from the source) with one laser, and reconstruct the object with only one beam.
Cinerama in Seattle has a laser projector, and it's freakin' awesome!
simplified but concise description, good job!
Fookin laser sights
PitaJ Eyyy a Mute quote.
igotshot5 Thatcher, you mean. Mute doesn't say anything.
LifeOfASmiley Ahh yes you're right lol X D
a 6 inch blade doesn't lose reception.
Dayuuuummm i'm a day late!!!!
This was incredibly interesting. Thank you
I do see this becoming more consumer pretty soon, I have had chance to play with the Epson projectors (perks of working there) and the contrast ratio is fantastic, also yes the laser life is pretty accurate.
Hi, I'm from the future, some entry level chinese models can now be found at around 500$
Corporate was suggesting NEC 8k laser projectors for us this year. The way they were set up was basically a single chip DLP projector with a color wheel. They were still ridiculously expensive, we could have bought two halogen lamp projectors for the price of one.
2:05 As a german what was that ???? xD
a bad hitler reference/joke.
And only one
Und=,and
Those kinds of different used technology types of projectors are amezing.
I use a pair of Panasonic RZ770 7k laser projector at work. They are so much better than the lamp-based counterparts (DZ770). I absolutely love them. They use the same interchangeable lenses as all the Panasonic 1-chip projectors use. If you work in AV you should definitely check them out if you haven't already!
2:05 what the Fuck happened here?
Ralph Körner When you're German and don't understand it xD
Yup, the the bad puns are strong with this one.
Mrs Unknown I think he's actually saying "and only one" but with a german accent x)
LinusTechTips...NOW IN GERMAN!!!
Nope I am a native German speaker and I still make out the words behind the sounds he made there.
I like how your thumbnail gives a good idea about how it works. Thanks!
Here we are in 2022, now, and these things can be had for as little as $300, and they can be battery powered and portable, with bluetooth and wireless built in. Wow, what a time to be alive!
you guys should do a quickie on contrast ratio in projectors.
Wow ...
It helped me a lot....
Cleared my confusions.... Thank u Sir....
We got one in one of the classrooms at my work. My understanding is that it cost $20k. 30,000hrs of operating time may sound like a lot, but our instructors often don't turn the projector off when they're done, so we'll see how it goes.
So, how did it go in these 5 years?
@@camelCased Still running fine, to my knowledge.
Oh.... MicroVision is going to get so much attention on Monday. So glad I am already invested :p
30000 hours is 10x longer than the bulbs at the cinema I work at.
"LASER SEX DOLL" - I just lost it and rolled on the floor xD
So here's a question. Say I am pointing my laser beamer at a white wall and I have it turned on for about 3 - 4 hours every night. Will the laser have any long term effect on the paint of my wall?
Will I notice more wear when compared to a normal beamer?
How long will it take for the laser beamer to have a visible effect on the paint on my walls?
This problem would probably be avoided by using on of those projector screens, would I need a special screen for a laser projector however?
So maybe more than 1 question but still, if anyone knows the answer I'd love to know.
The majority of laser projectors (not just in the consumer space) are laser phosphor. It's not cheating.
Whether RGB laser or laser phosphor, the the primary colors are combined to make write before getting to the light engine, where they are then separated by a prism the same as in a lamp projector.
Great video as always
Now I need a rgb laser projector to put in my home. already installed my remote controlled rgb lighting thanks Linus
must say i love the sarcasm on this channel!
But arent lasers dangerous if pointed at the human eyes? Can you explain that misconception
Carlos Botero They do, but they need to be strong enough. (No, don't shine laser pointers in people's or animal's eyes .)
I believe that it's like how you can look at something the sun is shining on, but you can't look right at the sun, but I could be very wrong.
You're not supposed to stare into a projector bulb either.
Well if it's supposed to be a bit brighter than the bulb one, it will just be annoying and makes u turn your eye away, you won't damage it if you don't stear at it for an extended period, as for the bulb ones...
Carlos Botero
I have a little Sony one with only 37 lumen, but holy shit that thing hurts if you accidentally flash yourself with it.
That "gtfo" run at the end made me chuckle.
Really Enjoyed the John Part !
I am still dying from the ending
Why not put the link of additional video about the colors, into the description of this one? Thanks for the quickie
This video was both informative and... extremely funny!! One.. und wunly one!! That was epic!
That joke in the end was hilarious!
You can't separate blue light into red and green light, what's happening with the phosphorous (I assume) is that the light is being absorbed and new light is being emitted at different wavelengths.
this was done like 7 years ago by Mitsubishi. the projector failed for the consumer market. but man that image was amazing
I did a quick search and found that most laser projectors employ one laser light source and the operation is the same as LCD and DLP projectors. The laser is only better because it is potentially brighter and more efficient light source, similar to the success of LED over lamps
In fairness, I learned that lasers can be a very good all around light source if costs can be reduced, a step from LEDs, as LEDs did on lamps.
His German reference reminded me of the first Be quiet! power supply unboxing he did. Man that was a long time ago.
One of the best features wasn't even mentioned: true blacks. Just like OLEDs in comparision to regular LCDs, the black pixels are actually "off" (or in this case not lit by the lasers), and not just backlit dark pixels, which leads to insane contrasts.
If you haven't experienced it yet (and want to ruin every regular cinema forever for yourself) go see some movie in an IMAX Laser 4K theatre. It's like going to the movies for the first time in your life :D
The best mini projector that you can find in the market for this price range!
Nice Episode :) I would have liked to see a bit more info on how the image is created on a pixel level...and what about this German joke? :D
Jannes Kuhlmann I think it was a NEIN !
2:03-2:06 if you think I'm not going to snip that part and use it in a video on my channel you are quite mistaken sir.
Thatcher smiles evilly
i lost it with Jon running away xD
Already have one. It is freaking awesome.
BTW, you can get pocket version able to connect to any device (phone, pc etc...)
As i said i have the portable one which i would not recomend for gaming (havent tried tho), but the quality of picture is great!
Can you do a video on file format conversions (like with avidemux) and how they achieve that?
good Information here thanks
Does that mean looking at a laser projector directly (perhaps by accident from passing in front in a classroom) give a greater chance of causing eye harm?
You can make another episode on LTT, to investigate whether projector screen is better than white wall.
Trust me, $8,000 is a good deal for a TUE 4K projector! It means the price will go down even further! can't wait to grab one!
Let's not forget the Pico projectors that can fit in your pocket. I imagine what laser technology can do for them: bigger battery life, better brightness, smaller size... What about other applications for this technology: Less heat, more light, better image... I bet we will be seeing very creative uses for this technology.
The other benefit to laser projection is that the contrast is much better!
One note linus: Make it laser video projectors.
I use laser projectors too but these do vectors and not video!
But you clearly figured out what he was talking about, and so did everyone else
Love how he was trying to let out the German here and ended up only using a single German word in that part, "und".
Imagine looking into the projector by accident
*_OUCH_*
Please let John know he doesn't need to slam his feet on the ground while he runs. Just looking at him hurt my knees.
Sorry Linus. Austin Powers was 20 years ago, not 15 :D
Laser beams is in the first movie.
Just wondering how about safety? There was review of some pocket size laser projector with laser class 3R.
What about Casio XJ-A252? It is a Laser/led hybrid and I got one in my house (for cheap from an eBay valet seller).
Edit: Found out red is produced by LED, blue by laser, and green by blue laser from a phosphor. Still pretty quiet compared to lamp-based projector.
John knows how it is
I want to know if only laser is enough to create the picture or DLP chip is needed?
Laser eye surgery + laser things NASA uses + Laser wireless technology + IMAX Laser are the best. Other things like laser mouse are usually not good enough.
Do laser projectors also produce the rainbow effect DLP projectors show when you move your eyes?
first Luke now Jon... I'm guessing LMG is hiring new emplyoees again soon :D
Lol I did research on laser RGB Displays for my Engineering Optoelectronics course. I know all about this :P
Superior laser race represent
You're forgetting to mention that usually laser phosphor technology uses a color wheel to produce other colors.
why is the sound so low? I just watched the video about Float Plane from Luke and the difference is noticeable.
We use laser projectors at work and we love them.
Video is out of focus. Someone fucked up.
That bothered me so much.
Their main camera guy Brandon is on vacation, that's probably why.
Edit: SomePickles is probably right, I remember linus saying something like that on a WAN show
Dennis generally films Techquickie, he prolly just didn't notice
probably john
Linus is out of focus, everything else is perfect. Either bad camera focus or transcoding settings.
tks for pointed it out. i thought it was my eyes :v
Guys i love the new scripts keep the jokes flowing
Love the gold shirt Linus
@2:05 i was about to fall of my chair because i laughed so much :D
that only one joke is killing me rn
Why can't I just get some frickin' lasers with sharks attached to their heads?
have had my celluon pico pro for a year and half. great investment
Yeah I got all this from that "not all projectors are created equal" UA-cam ad.
You didn't mention 'Infinite Focus'. Laser projectors do not require a lens to focus the beams. This allows them to project onto a curved surface without any blurring. I've always wanted to see a rear projection, extremely curved, display using multiple laser projectors (even pico-projectors). One that literally gives you 180 degree field of view.
Edit: You also didn't mention that laser projectors use scanning technology. The laser beam scans left to right, and top to bottom of the image just like the electron beams of CRT's do.
What is the scanning frequency usually?
@@camelCased I would assume the same as standard projectors.
ua-cam.com/video/ltjmLIv8ir0/v-deo.html
I got lasers in my eyes.
Do you think that cinemas will adapt this technology soon?
Up to learn about Laser technology a little more? I think it would possibly improve your content production on things that operate on optical physics.
Austin Powers came out in 1997. 20 years ago, Linus. We be oldin'.
I wonder, could this guy speak if his wildly moving hands were tied behind his back?
i was wondering when they would make this tech... but would it not be even better to have a laser for more than just the 3 main colors for better color output?
I'm on time, almost precisely on time. Laser precisely on time...
When Linus said the Laser Sex Doll, I suddenly got more interested in that
"Work hard, quit hard" - John, 2017
Is the weapon of the futur a laser that kills you while displaying a pony?
That last joke wast hilarious! Hire that guy back!
2:05 is perfect
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill...
Lasers don't emit light at only 1 wavelenght, it's physically impossible (see Heisenberg's principle), they emit in a very very small range of wavelenghts
what about the new radeon duo? when are ya making a video about that
