- Delta Air Lines offers one of the world's longest flights! It's Boeing 777 service between Atlanta and Johannesburg. This flight, which can last nearly 16 hours is one of the world's longest!
Delta One Business Class on a Boeing 777 is a special experience and, in this video, I'll share all of the highlights while flying to Africa.
Delta Air Lines is known for its incredible meals and talented crews. Watch this video to find out whether the hype is real!
Delta Air Line's Delta One seats are due for an upgrade, so this video also provides a preview of what the new Delta One Business Class cabin will look like.
By the way, I paid for this Delta Air Lines experience in Delta One so all of my opinions are just that: Mine! But, I'm eager to hear yours so...
Do you think Delta Air Lines has stepped up the game in Business Class travel with their Delta One Business Class cabin? Leave a comment and let me know!

Whenever I watch a Jeb Brooks video:
Alright he's reviewing the headphones... When will he say it?... When will he say-"I didn't like these headphones. Instead, I like using my BOSE QC20s, which have SUPERIOR NOISE CANCELLING QUALITIES." Ah, there it is.
As a pilot in terms of delays. If it is for weather it is a good delay, I would rather have a few hour delay than risk heavy turbulence or a flight crew overburdening themselves. There is a saying, takeoffs are optional, landing are mandatory.
While I am not a big fan of flying. I can honestly say that Delta is the best I've ever flown! Pleasant crew. Flights always landed ahead of time, everytime. Great pilots!
Jeb: It's time for these seats to be replaced
Delta: okay we'll retire the 777s
It was all Jeb’s fault 😂
😂 I wonder if Delta will get the new 777X series
Best delay was when we were leavening Hawaii for a 10 hour haul to Newark... the plane had engine problems and we were delayed a day... United gave us a really nice hotel on the beach and we stayed another day which was awesome
Omg same I had a 8 hour delay on Delta from Hawaii
I fly delta a lot and I never have problems with them. The best part is always the crew including the pilots
Thanks for the shoutout Jeb! :) Loved the inflight footage out of the window! Good to see that the herringbone seats are being replaced as they're certainly ageing. I was never really a fan of them (I see that Air NZ still puts them in their new aircraft) as the seats are angled away from the window and towards other passengers.
Air NZ said they want to introduce A New Business class And are Currently testing some seats. It will (Hopefully) Be introduced in 2019
Paul kindly refer to Dennis Bunniks recent 789 review of Air NZ. Air NZ are currently investing in a new J class design too. Theres a secret hangar somewhere in Auckland with a cabin mockup. Wld love a sneek peak myself! A lot of these new J class 'suites' simply weren't designed and to market when Air NZ was launch customer for the 789 a few years back. The condition of Delta's seat and ptv looks like threve given up on maintenance prior to the refurb.A great crew can only do so much. Better to offer a consistent hard product than a hotchpotch where one experiences one type on one flight then something better -or worse- on another flight with same airline e.g. Qatars' 772 ULR to Auckland has a VERY old fashioned 2x2x2 J product but their A350 product is amazing, class leading. Same with Singapore whose 777s are in some examples astonishgly threadbare. Yet they too have a beautiful new A350 product. Lastly Qantas has very old fashioned Marc Newson designed 'egg shell' j class which was once cuttjng edge vs the new 789 and A333 refit product. Guess airlines are damned if they do and damned if they don't. Passengers have ever heightened product expectations despite the prices of tickets having plummeted in real terms over the years.
i had a 19 hour delay in hong kong and i made few friends and one of them became my best friend and we all live few blocks so new friends
Sounds boring
@@yashasingh6068 boring? all you do is comment “fly air new zealand,” now that’s boring
I enjoyed my Cathay Pacific delay, because being an AV Geek, Hong Kong airport is amazing
As an av geek myself, delays are always welcome ;)
Çrust I also enjoy delays because when sitting in economy, I get to enjoy my view of the planes and the person in front of me
Same I loved my 11 hour layover in HKG via Cathay dragon
I must say the 777-300ER is an amazing aircraft, it size is magnificent and it looks 100x better in the delta livery
I think you mean 200lr, or er. Delta doesnt have a single 300er aircraft. Honestly the 200lr looks so cool though because its shorter but it makes the engines and width of the fuselage just look absolutly massive
thats a 777-200LR
"whats more exciting then leaving for a new destination"?
landing
It’s my birthday tomorrow
Edit: WOW I GOT A HEART! THANKS!
Have a nice birthday !
In 2019 :)
Cold silverware? First-world problem, ya think?
Right. Big deal wow sitting in business class, Cold silverware for few minutes calm down Jeb. You'er flying business - some can't even afford that
The real tragedy: they didn't butter his bread for him!!!
Callie Masters or his landing!!!
@@CallieMasters5000 Maybe he doesn't like butter. *I DON'T LIKE IT*
rich peoples troubles oh how garesh!!!
I went Global for 7 years and flew Delta One. Magnificent. God bless the cabin crews.
We were flying on American Airlines on a short 45 minute flight from Oklahoma City to Dallas on a McDonnell Douglas MD-80. The flight got delayed for about 3 hours when we finally started to board. When we got to Dallas, we were supposed to grab another flight to Orlando, but since the other flight was delayed, we were too late. So American Airlines got us free flights to where we wanted and free dinner.
Renato Giusti stop flying American
Delta as you know is the best airline! Love those GE90s! I'm excited for the long flights you've got planned later this year! Nice video as always.
Though to add to that, from a customer standpoint delta is always going to be number one for me, however I really dislike their fleet.
Those seats are really tired, but am glad you know that they will be changed! I'm surprised that on a long flight like this that DL doesn't provide pajamas. The use of the chime is very cute to que a segment. I used to follow Paul but hearing him complain about being single got droll. The lounges look great but DL needs to get their act together and stop using paper plates and bowls...it's cheap and tacky as hell! Great report as always!!!
I agree
I flew the same product from LAX to SYD and was given pyjamas on that 13 hr flight. Odd there was no mention of them here, they're really nice and comfy but the zipper by the neck is a bit scratchy......
RE Ohtz I agree
4:12 - Your channel is totally legit. Appreciate the honesty!
I just discovered you on UA-cam and couldnt stop watching for the day! Instantly Subscribed! Keep these tripreports going! 😄👍
I haven’t flown since 1979...Miss traveling so ur videos take me around the world 🌎
Delta will be retiring all Boeing 777 by year's end. RIP legend.
We enjoy your great video productions, Jeb! Thank you! We also like watching takeoff in real-time rather than fast forward... it's a thrill to experience in real-time. Thanks!
I took this flight on SAA before it discontinued its alliance with Delta and became a Star Alliance member. That flight took 18 hours because the plane stopped at Ilha do Sal (Cape Verde) to change crews. It also departed in the morning and arrived in Jo'burg the following morning. Arriving at night is fine if Jo'burg is your final destination, but if you're continuing on, it's exhausting.
Service in premium class on SAA was AMAZING--lie-flat seats in a 2-2-2 configuration and 2 meals (lunch/dinner after departure; breakfast before landing).
the music around @6:20 is a bit too much I believe. skip the music or pick a more calmer tune for this part of the video. keep it up!
Jeb Brooks ofc i love the music too! But this one was a bit dramatic hehe. Keep it up and peace from sweden!!
For someone fortunate enough to fly first class, I'd definitely be grateful for getting that pleasure instead of complaining about cold silverware.
there is no first class on Delta cabins.
Great job as usual Jeb!! Your presentation, editing and narrating are the best around!!
Jeb, personally I'd recommend you to get a mic. I haven't done any videos yet but I've recorded some footage for my travel blog in the past and a mic makes a big difference. I picked one up at my local tech store for $3. It's not top quality, but it does the trick focusing the sound on my voice, especially with the roaring 777 engines behind.
As for the video, great review! I value WiFi over the IFE system, especially when there's complimentary texting, so wish you could've included that in your roundup. Otherwise, I'm glad the food and the crew on your flight were excellent!
I use the app HandyRecorder and just connect the mic to my phone (there's a time lag when using the Voice Memo app). Works like a charm!
Jeb Brooks, check out the new Sony RX100 Mark VI. It just got released and even though I haven’t used it I’ve heard only good things.
Jeb Brooks get a Rode SmartLav+. You can clip the mic to your shirt and record on the Rode app on your phone. You can then easily sync the audio when editing.
Awesome video man I loved it:-)
Haven't watched the video yet but to no surprises its going to be a great video. The 777-200LR and the Delta livery are a good combo.
Delta has always fed passengers well
I love SA. Was there numerous times in the 70's and 80's. On my way to Rhodesia. Great people.
Greatest and most underrated channel! Keep up the reviews and make sure you fly on the remodeled 777-200 business class seats that are coming soon!
Great as usual. Cool you got to spend some family time with your big brother. Interior was worn. glad they will update it later. I was laughing at you with the headphone comment. :) You are a trip :) Keep it up mon ami. I loved the puns...
Usually, I find delays quite annoying, but in some cases, they have totally saved my bacon. I'll take some extra waiting if it means at other times I won't miss my flight.
My experience with a delay was pretty good. We were flying Delta from LAX to HNL. Plane was fine upon boarding, but then suddenly something on the engine popped or whatever. They replaced it - plane still wouldn’t start. We had to deplane. Then wait 6 hours whilst they got a plane from MA flown in.
On the upside Delta gave everyone on the flight free unlimited snacks AND sandwiches! I may or may not have had 4... I was hungry okay...?
Lastly, you speak of Delta FAs being a bit worn down on the night flights. You and I have very different experiences. I’ve flown night and morning flights and have had great flight attendants on all. On one of my night flights a flight attendant was smiling and skipping down the aisle. They’ve all been upbeat morning or night (in my experience). On another night flight, the FAs constantly came around with water for everyone to keep everyone hydrated!
Solid video! Just got back from Delta’s second longest LAX-SYD. Great service the 777 does need a refresh but Delta has their new Suites rolling out more and more.
Really enjoy your trip reports, love the attention to detail and commentary through the video. Keep up the great work!
wow one of the best trip reports very detailed thankyou looking forward to whatching more :D
I only fly Delta domestic....I never fly them International....I learned my lesson...took them to London once.....business class...horrible wasn't a strong enough word. They need to take note from some of the European Airlines. Great video....damn...16 hours. That's hard core....even in Business
Once in 2009 i had a Paris-Budapest-New York flight with Malev and, as the first airplane was delayed, I got to visit for an afternoon budapest. This was one of my favorite visit to my surprise and since i look foward to coming back (didn't have the time)
I enjoyed my delay at ASE, it was snowing, I got to see a bunch of private aircraft, and United took great care of us. They offered snacks and water!
I once enjoyed a delay with Virgin Atlantic at Heathrow because I love watching planes, and Heathrow is beautiful. The pilot did his best to explain. The whole situation was quite nice
Done this one recently. They didn’t have a sky club for us in our concourse. You are a lucky man for getting business class. We are almost to the end of 2019 and the plane looks exactly the same on the inside. No updates yet.
Great video Jeb! I flew on DL's inaugural flight from LAX to SYD on a 777. I think like 15 hours or so. Unfortunately I was in coach...smack dab in the middle of the middle! It was a very looooong flight! As for the delay in ATL...I hope they kept the PD champers flowing!! 😉👍
I like delays. Lurking in my seat and watching movies is way more comfortable than standing around in the airport.
I don't think you would enjoy the delay in front of a 15+ hour flight, especially if you are in main cabin. Those seats get really small, really quick!
Just returned from Jburg this week. The experience in Main Cabin is not the same you demonstrated to us. Imagine being in a school chair for 15+ hours. The space is cramped, overhead storage is at a premium, and you are given whatever meals are left, not likely to be the choices offered, especially closer to the back of the plane. Seating is 3-3-3 in the same space that seats 4 in Delta one.
I did enjoy the crew, they were great! They were very good about making sure that drinks were available, and the pilots made every attempt to keep the flight smooth. Entertainment was good also.
The expense of the flight was about $1500.00. Delta comfort was unavailable, but is another $500.00 to upgrade. There were seats in Delta one, but the premium for a decent seat and a some comfort is $5500.00. That's right, $7000.00 for the trip, vs $1500.00 for the sardine version.
I would love to see your take on the same flight, from the economy seats. I bet you wouldn't be such a fan.
I flew the JNB-ATL segment in 2017 in Economy class. It was a decent ride for that length of flight. The fight home was a last minute purchase for me. I was in Madagascar on a mission trip when I got the word my mom had passed away. DL was able to get me to BNA and I had just enough time to get to her funeral. The food, flight and crew were amazing. Jeb, thanks for some great video's.
Love this trip report. Amazing as always, you’re the best trip reporter out there!
Dude u rock I’m your new biggest fan!!!
The longest flight I've ever been on was on January 7th and January 21st in 1966. A Varig Airlines Boeing 707 non-stop flight to Rio De Janeiro from Kennedy in NYC on the 7th, and the return flight on the 21st. You have me beat by a lot more than a country mile. Of course, I was just 10 years old at the time. I love watching videos like this. Back then, your baggage was all included in your airfare. Meals too.
and champagne ..we have almost the same age by the way thank you
claus, I was way too young to even think about drinking champagne at the time.
Very good man.....great video. You have a thumbs up from me. Peace from Miami beach
Tristan da Cunha is definitely a bucket list item. It's my first need, so I feel like I have to visit, and the bragging rights of visiting the most remote settlement on Earth would be amazing.
I was once delayed about 5 hours in the terminal on a very short flight between buffalo, NY and JFK. It was right after a college orientation, and I met a lot of people from my school that I connected closely with as we were all delayed together. Good times!
Delta's Delta One cabin is a great experience and a great way to travel and be rested. Plenty of food and quality of food makes for a great flight experience. My wife and I have flown to Amsterdam, London, Paris and Inchon. Delta does a great job!!! Next stop Italy.
Great review! The inflight meals look tasty. It seems to be a good product
Excellent! Haven’t been on Delta One/Business Elite in a few years, so it’s really nice to see!
Thanks for sharing all the details. We love it!
So, one time I was at New York's ISP airport. We flew Southwest, and were stuck there for 9 whole hours! The airline gave out food and drinks and we loved it!
Amazing tripreport, I just subscribed! Cheers from Sweden!🇸🇪 Not a real fan of american airlines due to a terrible experience flying United from O’hare to Vegas but this looked great! Thanx!
i like how there's a plane taking off in the background as you were pushing back @3:24
I have a 14 hour flight from atlanta to tokyo coming up on delta 777-200. Pretty stoked
Outstanding review! I always enjoy your reviews.
I really enjoy your humor :) great video! Tho I’ll never fly business, it’s great to see that.
Not so much a delay but rather what it resulted in I enjoyed. I was flying from nice France to new York on Norwegian initially with an overnight stopover in Stockholm. However, our initial flight to Stockholm was delayed and then cancelled causing us to be rerouted to have a day and a half in Oslo before going on to JFK. I had a great time in Oslo and Norway is one of my favourite countries to visit.
Sorry if you didn’t have a great experience, Jeb! I’m proud to be flying for Delta, and I hope have a better experience next time!
Love the video I have never gone on Delta’s 777 but I love the A350
Hi! I am a HUGE Aviation Fan! Love your channel!
You have my dream job flying is my favorite thing in the world!! Keep posting these awesome videos!!
Hey jeb your videos are awesome. I’ve been here until 5k subs! Love your channel. Keep it up.
Jeb Brooks Im also so excited for your Singapore to Newark A359ULR later this year!
Got delayed @hk international airport to Dubai few years back flying there A380 business class and absolutely loved it.
Great video Jeb and looking forward to your trip report🥂🥂👍🏼
Warm welcome to South Africa and my home city.
I hope that SA treats you well :)
Had a layover at MSP once that turned into a significant delay. Had a fun time though watching planes, riding the tram around and enjoyed a meal.
Great report. I think Delta provides the best service of any US carrier on overseas flights.
I have actually enjoyed a delay, because the pilot tried to explain all the sounds on the aircraft during takeoff and landing to all the nerves flyers, not that he was thinking it was going to make them not to be scared to fly, but to make them think on something else. So the point was that we sat and was listening to someone making weird noises. And explaining in a funny way what it was.
Great video, objective also. You have a great style!
Man, the delta 777 looks so amazing...great video!
My Family flew Shanghai To Dallas ( All my family got upgraded to business class since there were no more economy seat.Yes I’m really lucky ) the weather was really bad so we stayed in the plane for 2 Hours so we got a extra meal. And the food were fantastic.Thats my AWESOME experience. 👍🏻😀
Wow delta has improved a lot :D
I got a free business class upgrade with Emirates from Christchurch, NZ to Sydney. We had a five minute delay and i enjoyed every single minute.
Love your videos, Jeb! Atlanta is one of my fav airports! Lived up there for 17 years! Now I love my flights from Tampa to Key West to relax... You should do a short hop on Silver Airways... The view and the plane are great, flying at, 15000!!!
Very nice video. Throughly enjoyed
Good vid ,very informative, gave it 👍
Thank you for putting the music down for the takeoff so we could hear those nice GE90 engines
Yup, I enjoyed a delay, on Delta aswell. It was on a A320 flight from Orlando to Boston, in my terminal there was some great food avaible, aswell as being able to see a Emirates 777. Also the seats were comfy in the waiting area.
Hey Jeb! Great video. The only suggestion I have for you is record the engine start up and takeoff with no music. Everyone loves the ge90’s on the triple 7’s.
Great video Jeb! Recently I was on a flight from Seattle to Beijing in Delta One on a 767. Talk about a much needed upgrade!
Great trip report! Two trips in one video? Keep up the good work!
3:45 Wow! That sounds amazing :D
Hi Jeb, as always this is another flight report and amazing video! Have a nice time in South Africa! Regards , Georges
Great video Jeb, as always really like your reports.
I flew on that same seat 7A from NRT to HKG and it really was the most private seat on DL 777. Those were great times when you could fly on DL 744 from JFK to NRT and then transfer to DL 777 on to HKG.
Economy for 16 hours? I can’t do economy for 45 minutes
Looking back saying 45 minutes makes me sound snobby and entitled. I only fly economy (highest class I’ve ever flown us premium economy on United) sry about that
I did economy for 13 hours from Paris to Singapore. It was hell.
Good for you guys but some of us don’t have a choice unfortunately. I flew 17 hrs this summer from the US West Coast to China and it wasn’t all that bad but that’s just me I guess. I was counting down the entire time though. My options were either flying economy or next semester’s tuition haha
14 hours in premium economy on JAL was amazing
I did a school trip in May from SFO to Tokyo on Korean Air. As you can imagine it was in economy. The long haul from SFO to Incheon was 11 hours. The trip back was 10. Then i vowed ill never take another 6+ flight in economy ever in my life. I was tweaking on my flight back it was brutal. Luckily im Mexican and a LAX to Guadalajara flight is only 3 hours so in the even of an emergency I don’t have to suffer. But man if i had family in Asia Europe, Australia, Africa or South America, that would be absolutely painful. My new motto is if i cant afford business class for long hauls, i cant afford to travel.
Same!
I did enjoy a delay because I got to explore the airport!! It was AMAZING!!
One delay I got I had a good view of an active runway. From my gate. So I was able to watch airplanes. I also saw a 747 taxiing.
Great, can't wait to get to Johannesburg, or Cape Town, South Africa. Wow I sure it will be a fantastic safari.
I enjoyed my delay when I was traveling alone at the age of 12. I was in the minors lounge in the Dallas airport and I met some awesome people from all over the world. Because of the delay, I was able to talk to them a bit more and we all still talk till this day.
Nice tripreport, good review of Delta One. The food look so good.
We also did the Atlanta to Jo-burg run (a looooong trip indeed), and had the old interior and I agree they kept this configuration in service for a bit too long. We're going to get to try out the new Delta One configuration shortly when we travel to Australia. I like your reviews because they're pretty darn accurate, especially when compared to my like experiences...
Hi Jeb, I really enjoyed watching your in flight video with Delta. The catering looked really good, it is a shame about the dated tv screens. I looked at the price of Business Class and it is way too expensive for me! Economy costs enough for me! More than anything, my highlight of the video was listening to your American accent, I could listen to it all day long!
Awesome video! I love the 777s and I really hope I can fly on one soon! Also the service seemed really good!
